Plus Apple is really good with the updates and adding content. And free Garageband is a good gateway drug, or mobile companion for Logic.

BTW FL was not the first. Serato Studio has had Stem Splitting feature for almost two years now. Also, Waveform 13. Great content Bro!

Do you think it will be easier to mix songs now with bass, piano and drum instruments or do you still have to do magic to separate the annoying frequencies in each instrument?

I don’t think stem splitting will really help in the mixing domain too much. The sessions instruments sound pretty mixed out of the box but still need some tlc to fit

Updating the browser from a technical standpoint is a huge job… it’s probably going to take them redoing a lot of code to make it work.. the iPad version was built from scratch so they was able to do more

funny observation, after my first crash in L11 I looked through the 'crashed thread' in the crash report and it kept referring to the program as "Logic Pro X", which it def feels like, not a whole new "number update"

I would say depends on your budget. Full version of FL is much more expensive than logic

Do you have the stem splitter option? Check your plugin validation see if it’s in that list. Sometimes restarting your computer could help force logic to rescan

Make sure you're not running Logic in Rosetta mode. (Right click the Logic application in Finder, open the menu for it and see if the Rosetta option is enabled.)

Hi there, do you know if you have to run a M1 ship for the stem separation ? Cuz i m on ventura 13.6 intel i downloaded the .11 and i see the stem option but it is in grey. No way to click on it ? Cheers.

Having to buy a new computer in order to upgrade logic caused me to turn to pc once…once. Probably won’t ever do that again. I hardly use logic now since I started using studio one. It has lost its position as my go to daw. I don’t see this update changing that. We all have different wants/needs. Mine are more about convenience, mini time-savers, shortcuts, drag and drop, working with loops and samples, things like that. I’m not gonna throw a midi fit over what logic did or didn’t add. May be useful for some. My music creation wouldn’t involve stem splitting, atmos, or their “ai” stuff in the least. I’m about to start using cubase 13 pro so I don’t see myself going back to logic any time soon. I won’t wait for apple to add the features I want/need, instead I’ll just use a daw that does. Mac studio will be my next big purchase, but it won’t be because of logic, that shiny new toy is for my real friends, cubase and s1. When/If apple ever adds things I want/need, only then will I add logic to my new mac. Meanwhile, cheers to not holding my breath. Using logic has put quite a bit of money in my pocket and I’m grateful to have used it for a season. That’s all from me. Thanks for listening/reading. 🎹♥️

Echo? Did they update the sample Library manager? I love using Ableton for sample preview when play a project and looking for kick or high hat samples that play perfectly in sync with the project tempo. Logic is horrible at this.

@@EchoSoundWorks This sucks… The best way i figured out is to use Logic w/ Ableton is with link. Then use Ableton’s sample library manager/ folder to view and audition samples and it will play in-sync with Logic. I also use ADSR Sample Library manager as a plugin inside Logic. It’s the only way to be able audition samples while hearing your project and it playing in-sync. I make Trance/ Techno/ Melodic Tech , etc and auditioning samples with the project playing is so helpful and I hate that Logic still hasn’t gotten this correct. Does anyone know of another way to audition samples in-sync in Logic?

Ez keys no - it’s just a piano basically - ez bass - it’s a solid option for that.

The sound library needs a major overhaul. It’s a pain trying to open an instrument without it loading a series of plugins and busses. Having to over ride this is a pain

Yeah that’s a bit annoying that Apple hasn’t historically realized that their work flow isn’t the be all end all.

If you don't want the plugins and busses just use Enable Patch Merging. Simple. If you don't know what that is you should look it up. This feature has been around since 2013.

Um no it really hasn’t. I’ve been using logic since version 7 in 2006. It wasn’t always free like it is now. Going from 8 to 9 cost money and in 2013 when Apple went full tilt on App Store - users of logic 9 had to buy a new license for logic x.

Being in apples shoes must suck tbh. Release an update for us pro longterm users who would welcome "boring" things like better plugin search, midi preview, scale lock, being able to see the grid lines behind audio for chopping and aligning etc, or do what this update does, shiny new toys for newer users. Seeing as how updates have been free for about 8 years now Apple has to use these updates to get new customers and younger producers in the pipeline at the risk of alienating older users who could find these features in other daws. I don't envy that position.

Fl studio, not owned by a trillion dollar company, similarly priced full version compared to Ableton and image line offers free lifetime updates. I wasn’t suggesting that every full number upgrade should be free (which is why I said logic typically hasn’t been in the past) it was more a commentary on the lack of innovative new features in the last ableton update that you usually see in a full number jump. That update seemed like it should have been a 11.3 to 11.5 type of update not going to a new full numbered version.

I am an ableton user currently in 12 suite and the features they added feel more mathematical ( barely use the new ones as i had got used to its work flow and new ones feel quirky at times) than musical which i think should be key focus for creativity . with what we have those updates for quality of life but not everything cause they moved a few things here and there it should have been free . I am currently figuring which DAW to learn to accompany ableton cause i think were past realying on one DAW to be innovative all the time and meet most user base needs.
