Today I want to talk about something really cool the NHL is doing, with their hockey fights cancer initiative, and in particular Nikita Zadorov choosing to honor Rodion Amirov's fight. All that and more in tonight's NHL hockey video.

One that really got to me was when the Arizona Coyotes inducted Leighton Accordo into their ring of honor. A young girl who passed away from Cancer. The video before the ceremony is a gut punch. I'm not an Arizona fan, but it was so classy of them to do that for her, and her family.

My mom had ovarian cancer 7 years ago, and to this day we’re insanely grateful for our doctor being very particular about these things. A regular checkup where mom mentioned a lump in her pelvic area turned into an operation where both of her ovaries were removed, and luckily enough we caught it so early on that it hadn’t had a chance to spread, and she’s been cancer free since then. Luckily enough my parents are happy with just having two kids, but it’s absolutely devastating when women that want children but haven’t had any yet get diagnosed with ovarian

Had a buddy in the 11th grade who got a brain tumor and wasn't at school for the rest of the year. Luckily, he has got past it and is living what seems to be a healthy happy life. I am hoping one day, that cancer will just be a treatable illness.
@jamesbarrett3149
@jamesbarrett3149 Жыл бұрын
It is treatable. Look up that clinic in Mexico. They use nature to heal you not poison that kills you. Chemo shrinks the tumor but it strengthens the cancerous stem cell which attacks the patient and kills them yet makes it look as if they’ve been saved. Biggest scam! Well after schmovid it may take 2nd place Don’t worry AIDS may beat cancer due to schmovid… Keep trusting those rich jerk offs with their white jacket

Jet Bad thing is they are selling a death sentence. Women getting mammograms is asking to be killed. Their breast would then receive a poisonous dose of cancer causing radiation. Same for prostrate exams. Great benefits means they dose you real good. They will give you every medication (poison) that is covered. Disregard what I said, just wear that pink ribbon and go marching around dressed like a girl.

Thank You Eck ! As a single father raising three girls. about 3years into that my 2nd. daughter who was 6 at the time was found to have a Whilms tumor . Thankful being Canadian we started treatment within the week, as am on a disability pension myself and if we had to paid for it :( Now survival rate is high on this cancer but usually hits children much younger but usually returns again. Like all cancers its a long hard fight on the whole family, We did 29 weeks of chemo and 7 radiation treatments with three surgeries and more tests then any of us should take. Watched my lil girl shrink down to nothing but bones with her beautiful bald head and a smile that never stopped. She didn't just become my hero but the bravest person I had ever meet ! Thou I haven't served myself but have friends that have, they all admit to be more scared then ever during their service. That bravery is the power tp push on when your brain screams to freeze or run away but your heart lifts you up and moves you forward anyway. My princess only cried a handful of times thru hundreds of needles and tests, she actually sang thru tests where it was possible. That year of hell was harder on the rest of us and again social program's helped us by providing counseling for us all. My girls are 13, 12 and soon to be 10 and am so proud of the woman they are all becoming ! We are 3 full years clean and down to yearly screenings. My heart broke for every parent who not only went thru this hell with their child but did it during covid ...... o7

One of the things that makes Glioblastomas horrible is the fact that they are like tentacles when they grow. They can go in and remove some of them, but they never go away and the patients mortality rate is extremely high. Pretty much everyone who gets that form of cancer will succumb to it.

Watching someone you love fight cancer is rough. I lost my dad to cancer when I was 19 and we were incredibly close my whole life, so I understand that pain of doing everything possible but feeling like you failed that person because they still died. It took years to finally come to terms with it. Hockey Fights Cancer is a nice thing that the NHL does, especially letting the players drop that tough guy mask and be a positive force. I’ve been to all the HFC Dallas Stars games in honor of my dad who bled Victory Green. This was an absolute classy move that people have rightly showered praise on. It sucks to see someone that young with that much promise have to fight such a horrible thing when all he should be worrying about is what happens on the ice.

I love this sport and the fact that MOST players do not get involved in any B.S that's floating around in the media garbage ... they show class when it comes to being human . My father fought a brain tumor for 8 years , I took care of him the last 3 months of his life aside from the 1hr hospice care visits a day at my house . I took care of him the rest of the time , like he took care of me when I couldn't wipe my own ass . Except he made jokes like "don't have too much fun while you're down there" when I took care of the dressings 😆 (love you fasha!) We both laughed and that's the last one we had before he passed . Fuck cancer , love hockey and be kind to each other

FOr people in the comment section who say "I"m not a fan of such and such team but this is a classy move" You don't have to be a fan of a team to have a heart and soul about feelings for sadness. A lot of adults need to grow up mentally and mature to understand there is more to life then letting the world know the teams you root for. I can understand if you're in high school and still young and not aware of the harshness of the world but most of you are grown adults. It's time to understand it don't matter if you like a team or not it's beyond that scale of life when it comes to stuff like this. I see this on every sporting article across the board where majority of comments is about not liking the team but respecting the cause. Why not just respect the cause and have some empathy?

I am all for fighting cancer. My mother was diagnosed with breast cancer when I was two and eventually succumbed to it when I was seven. I am thinking that a more effective method of fighting cancer would be to remove all of the carcinogenic products from our shelves. Instead of doing all that is necessary after a person gets cancer this actually lowers the number of people contracting it in the first place. But this methodology is going to be an uphill battle considering that a lot of the carcinogenic products are petroleum based. And we all know how far the oil oligarchs will go to protect their assets.

O man... I am pretty close to knowing what it's like to have a brain tumor. Well a cancerous tumor. Luckily mine was not cancerous!! But for a while we didn't know. They wouldn't tell me shit unless I came in and to get in to see a brain surgeons takes some time. They r busy guys! So I'd have to sit and wait and think and think.... but I got very lucky, plus it was in a spot that wasn't too bad to get to. It's amazing how far modern medicine has gone. All in all it was a very scary thing to go threw. I really can't complain though bc it wasn't cancer. So ill take the gnarly scar and story and keep on pushing for the ones who weren't lucky enough to have a non cancerous brain tumor. Wow that sounds fucked up. But that's cancer! #fuckcancer.
