The Officials in the NHL are all awful. Chris Rooney, Kelly Sutherland especially should never be allowed to set foot in an NHL Rink. They think they are the show. All these fans are here to watch us. It’s ridiculous how bad the officials are.

4:50 in your video you state that Swaymen is pushing off to the puck, I think you read the play wrong, Swaymen pushed out to the top of the crease, you can tell he was not moving to the puck before Coyle made contact. You can see he forces his left pad out to follow the puck, normal, but if you look at his body and left pad movement it does not change before contact with Coyle, you can see his left knee right after he pushed off go straight away from the net to front not a extension to his right, His body also only move forward to the top of the crease, I dont see any movement outside of his first push out with the right pad that would allow him to be in the right spot. By the rules half of the plays in the NHL could be penalties, I think this falls into the rebound thing that you brought, unfortunately pushing people around to get position falls under the incidental contact area of the rule. I can see the logic that was used, but I can also see how that should have been no goal. The NHL does a shit job explaining plays like this and the calls that come from them. My personal opinion of incidental contact does not meet how you describe saying being contact away from the play that has no effect on the play. In that case anytime and defender is pushing and moving a forward in front of the net would be a penalty but because the contact while moving yourself to a spot that helps your team develop the a screen for a shot which would be an effect on the play if the puck is shot is considered incidental contact. And to be clear I am not a fan of either team and I do not have a dog in the fight, the Wild missed the playoff completely, at this point the only thing I want to happen is Dallas does not win the cup lol

I think the Coyle one impeded Swayman's ability to play his position and it shouldn't come down to a judgement call where they say he couldn't have pulled it off, when both he and Bobrovsky have shown us feats of goaltending we would have thought impossible. On the Heinen one, I think there's a case for interference before the shot, but they didn't blow it dead there, and Bob did seem to reset and wasn't impeded from playing his position except by dropping the stick, which they judged was more caused by the Florida player, so I think they got that call right and the explanation made sense. But I think everyone is sensitive to bad calls not only because we have specious perspective on calls against our team, but because everyone played sports at a lower-than-whaleshit level and expects the officiating to be better at the pro level, but it's actually just a giant shit-happens situation, which is the way it goes in sports, tough titty to whoever gets the bad call against them. That's part of what you have to beat in order to win, and it's useful to remember that whining about it will not ever help. That said, I would support some kind of tech solution like laser grids for the blue line and goal line because video review of whether there is enough white ice between the puck and the line is dumb and imprecise...and it's a game of millimeters, not inches. And the time after contact for the goalie to reset should be a defined timeframe, like 1 second. If the contact happened within one second before the shot left the stick, he was interfered with. Or whatever time it takes for a goalie to really reset, maybe it's 250ms or 2 seconds.

The way the crease works has changed over the years and if a common sense and consistent rule were in place I'd say there might be interference. However the overhead shot shows that Bob does square himself in plenty of time and the way the rule (seems) to function, that was key. I mean, if not, then I could bump a goalie and then 10 seconds later have a goal called back, playing devil's advocate.

Omg.. every year with the REFS they got a tough job. It’s hard to please both sides and every fan.. give it up I can’t stand people saying the refs and the nhl are picking the winners… pathetic whining

I feel like the blue paint should be the goalies only, even if it’s a defender in the blue, goal is called off. Stops all this goalie interference and possible injuries and who did what, how badly. However that being said that makes the goalie out in white ice makes him eligible for anything any other hockey player can expect.

Wait they stopped play because a goalie got hit by a puck? Isn't that the whole point of being a goalie?

60 years of watching hockey, never seen play stopped for a goalie taking hard shot. As a former goalie, that was bullshit. Play on !

As a Bruins fan I’m so glad to see someone as unbiased as Eck, so many people just hate the Bruins, understandably, and they let it cloud their judgement so much. Eck doesn’t let bias get in the way of the way he interprets things.

Bruins are not down 3-2 because of refs, they also played bad in most of those 3 Ls. But especially looking at that stopage for Bob and giving the Panthers 2-2 last game is such a shame and get such stupid, important calls in back 2 back games is the worst reffing ever
@stewartcumming8742 сағат бұрын
To me that's interference... Shot is mid windup and players stick moves Bob's skate. He now has to get reset while the player is in the slot shooting the puck. Bob losing his stick was actually less important than the initial contact with his skate
@cow40942 сағат бұрын
There was nothing controversial about this goal. Our guy knocked Bobs stick out. There was a nudge. But nothing about this play would bring the goal back. I knew it when i saw the replay. If they called it a no goal, id have been stunned after the last one. But nothing messy here. Goal reviewed. Goal counted as it should. We move on. Good tight game yesterday, Boston played well enough to force 6. Can't wait for Friday and seeing what happens next.

If they had called back the goal against Boston, I could see this one being called back. I think everyone would understand that they're just being super strict on goalie contact. But then again, the NHL really sucks at consistency.

both my teams are already eliminated. I've been laughing at the referees since then. They are missing the most obvious calls and then call a tripping because a guy fell on the ice by himself.

The refs are in damage control mode, they know the calls have been going overwhelmingly in the favor of Florida. Expect to see the balance continue to shift towards Boston in game 6.

IMO this "goalie interference" WASN"T EVEN CLOSE to having Bennett cross-check Coyle into Swayman and then tap the puck in. So, I don't think that this call should be considered a make-up for that one. This is legitimately debatable. The Bennett cross-check goal wasn't hockey. All that being said, while I didn't like Bennett's cheap-shot at Marchand, it happens in the heat of the moment in playoff hockey. It wasn't so over-the-top that they league should step in. Sucks that the Bruins lost their Captain and one of their top-scorers, but that stuff happens. Panthers are physical and guys like Bennett play on the edge. Hopefully, the Bs will win in Boston and force another Game 7.

Why can ref's not be sent to the AHL just like players? Call it a conditioning stint, whatever.
@bradenpotter5003 сағат бұрын
As a fan of neither of these teams you can clearly see the bruins players stick get under bobs skate/pad and physically push it backwards. In doing that it changes bobs angle to the shooter forcing a reactionary save instead of a set goalie ready to make what would’ve been an easy glove save 🤷🏻♂️
@RensCollectibles3 сағат бұрын
Goaltender interference just needs to be reworked. You can fart in the direction of a goalie and they'll call you for it. It's soft, the way it currently is. And it's playoff hockey, give them a little more leash.
@amoyer14413 сағат бұрын
That wasn't goalie interference as almost all contact was from his own man. If they called it goalie interference then they would have also needed to call high sticking on the goalie as his stick clips the forward. The Rangers so far have been the biggest benefactor of bad officiating.
@anthonyo21903 сағат бұрын
It's fixed. League wants series to go the distance so a little help from refs goes a long way. Penalties for one team not for the other that just committed the same penalty. Like everything else follow the money. Trochek cross-checked while on the ground by burns refusing to let him up, without the puck while ref watched, is that interference, I thought so.
@edmundgonzalez87313 сағат бұрын
From a fan standpoint I think the Heinen 'interference' argument is one of those that depends on which team you root for. One of those "What game are you watching Ref?!" But it it happened to your team, you'd want a suspension...
@floydthompson93323 сағат бұрын
There was no reason to stop the play. Why? Because he lurched forward after the shot? Another curious call among several in this series. Refs should be made to speak answer post-game questions for their decisions just like coaches and players. Don't send out some statement. Get it straight from the horse's ass...mouth. 👏👏

Bruins fan here. Fully expected that 2nd goal to come off the board. I agreed with you. It’s borderline. Could have gone either way, the fact that it stood makes it seem like a makeup call. I still hate that. There were at least 5 other occurrences in this game you could point to and say, WTF game is this ref watching? Florida penalties included. It’s like a HS ref trying to find penalties to make it seem fair, but they’re not watching what’s actually happening. It’s insane. It didn’t even feel like a win last night.
