ECM recommends purging the steam wand while the boiler is heating (for steam) so that there is more space in the boiler for steam to build up. I find that purging for 5 seconds, waiting 10s, and purging for another 5s is about right -- you'll get better pressure that way. Other than that, this is a very well presented tutorial.

The real thing that suprised me is how little room there is between the spouts and the drip tray. I need really tiny cups, especially if there is going to be a scale there too. I got my casa V today.

Nice video . What should i do if i follow instructions but still not getting water cone out from group head. Maybe because the machine boiler become hot hot before turn pump on ?
@Wholelattelovepage6 ай бұрын
Hi r, If you open the steam/hot water valve and push in the pump button (lower right) do you get water from the steam wand? If so, the pump is working properly and machine is drawing water but there may be a blockage in path of water to the group. If the pump does not turn on when you push the button then it's not operating for some reason. If pump comes on but no water from wand then there may be a blockage between the water reservoir and pump. If water reservoir is not fully inserted machine may not draw water. Could be foreign material in line or sticky one-way valve. If sticky valve then force priming the machine usually fixes the problem. To force prime, with the pump running slightly raise and lower the water reservoir multiple times. This helps force water into the system to free up the one-way valve.

Edited for clarity: When I’m finished brewing an espresso and follow up with using the steam wand to foam, after a brief purge of steam (to remove milk that might have come up into the wand during foaming), *if I do not wish to brew another espresso or use the steam wand anymore and want to shut off the machine*, should the steam be evacuated (by turning the steam mode button off and the brew mode button on) until a steady stream comes through the wand - is there any reason to release the steam and cool the boiler off a bit - prior to shutting the machine off? With my previous single boiler machine I always did this, but I don’t know if it’s necessary or perhaps just a good habit to get into. I just ordered an ECM Casa V from WLL, it’ll be coming tomorrow and I’m excited to try it. Thanks for a great video!

Coming from a simple la pavoni which I just had to turn on and whether push the lever or open the steam knob this machine (arrived yesterday) is still black sorcery for me. Especially milk steaming. I either just get water or there's no pressure / nothing happens. So: the pressure-display just shows up when you do something, right? Not like a la pavoni which is under constant pressure. And after you made a shot, you need to push the steam button, wait until the light turns off, open the tap, wait till the water comes off and after that you'll get the steam?

I just purchased this machine. Does anyone know what the clear hose that came with the machine is for ? It was included and packaged with the tamper and portafilter
@Wholelattelovepage6 ай бұрын
Hey carlo, clear hose is for force priming the pump. It's rather rare to need force priming. The hose would connect over the water intake nipple in the reservoir. As the machine is initially turned on and pump starts to fill the boiler water is manually pushed through the hose to force prime pump. If the boiler fills on initial startup force priming is not needed.

I have just purchased the ECM CASA V how do I know how much water is in the boiler - is it how many minutes/seconds you prime the boiler? Also why is it necessary to purge the boiler? If purging is required is this required after say 2 cappuccinos or after a few coffees. Does purging wreck the boiler. My old Breville croaked (brought in 2014) repaired once. I love my coffee so researched snd watched your videos and decided on the ECM Casa V due to the short heat up time and positive reviews. Thank you for your time.
@Wholelattelovepage2 жыл бұрын
Hi AS, Thanks for the question. The boiler fills to the appropriate level automatically. Purging does not hurt the boiler. After steaming milk, be sure to cool down the boiler. To do that, open the steam valve and turn on the hot water switch. Allow the pump to run until you get a solid stream of water out of the steam wand.

@@Wholelattelovepage thank you for explaining much appreciated. I am making coffee efficiently now. With regards to steaming milk when you say “whole milk” are you talking about full fat. I live in New Zealand we have green which is trim which is awful, blue has more fat in it then we have silver which is what I call full fat milk with the cream. Reason I’m asking is I’ve tried to make a cappuccino with (the blue milk) I get foam/froth but When I go to pour the milk it’s watery and I end up with a milky coffee which i don’t like. Trying to perfect this and have thrown out a few coffees. Many thanks for your time.

It is frustratingly close to my idea of a perfect single boiler machine. Please ECM, at least consider integrating a PID. I don’t think I’m the only one looking for a compact but capable machine.

is there a way to adjust the boiler temperature, my unit blast out steam during normal brewing
@Wholelattelovepage2 жыл бұрын
Hi Eric, It should not blast out steam during normal brewing. Any chance you have the steam switch on when doing normal brewing? Or maybe you are not cooling down and refilling the boiler after steaming?
@eatdoku2 жыл бұрын
@@Wholelattelovepage thanks, i ensure stream button was off, and I usually brew first before steaming anyways :) I confirmed with ECM that it's the problem with the temperature control or boiler. I'm sending the unit back for reparing :(

Hello, Do you have to pump water into the boiler before pulling a shot, or does the water transfer as soon as you start brewing?
@Wholelattelovepage2 жыл бұрын
Hi David, On first use out of the box you need to prime the machine and fill the boiler, using the pump switch and pulling a little water out of the steam wand. After that, no need to pump extra water into the boiler when brewing - the brew still will activate the pump and do that for you. One caveat, after steaming milk, you'll want to cool down and refill the boiler before brewing again. This process is shown in the video at 13:45. AJ
