EcoFlow WAVE 2 is the world's first portable AC that can both cool and heat. We've been using the Wave 2 for the last month, the hottest June on record in the UK, at home and in our Motorhome. We did find a couple of issues and needed a replacement unit. All comments held for review.
The EcoFlow WAVE 2 has been provided free for the purpose of review but I am not being paid to make this video.

Bob thanks for honest in depth review. Initial thoughts were it looked good, but way too big in size for our 6m motorhome. It would take up too much space, and as you say, it's a faff with the pipes going out the window. In principle, it's good but not for us. Again, thanks for the review.

@@BobEarnshawMoHo Thank you, Bob! I have tried using it as a heater by directing the rear exhaust hose towards the area I want to heat. LOL, it's a trick I learned from other users. Yeah, I agree, the cooling capacity is the main thing, but it works for me in 90°F. So I guess everyone just needs to sort out their priorities when choosing a portable AC.

We bought the wave 2 so we can use in the home and the van. We fashioned a bit of backerboard with a hole to fit one of the windows so it now slides in place. But, after slightly disappointing results on a hot weekend in York, we re-read the instructions and it clearly shows both pipes being used not just for the heat exchanger but also the air con function 🤷🏻‍♀️ so think we will have to try and see if this improves cooling times. Thanks for the video Bob.

It works better if you let it outside and just pump the cold air to the inside with the hose. It consums less than 200w on eco-mode, pumping ice-cold air of 6 C° which unheard of in the industry.

I think I will just stick with our roof mounted Truma Adventa Comfort, lot less fuss and no pipes and cables all over the place. Great review. We have the delta 2 / wave 2 bundle. We've used it in the house so far and it is great too cool down smallish rooms. We have an A Class and my plan is to build a piece of wood which will act as a template for the two pipes to go out the sliding window at the front. As you say it takes up space but the ability to use it when you don't have electric or take it in to the house is a real winner in my opinion.

You can adjust it down, but it may have to work harder to keep a cooler temperature. I tended to put it on 23C at night which seems a useful compromise, it's often the humidity that's the uncomfortable bit at night, so it helps with that.

Hi Bob, I just bought a Wave 2 and have been testing it out. On AC mode, mine makes a little noise other than just the blowing air. Not super loud but noticeable mostly on the lower blower setting. I have heard the same noise from window AC units before so maybe it's normal (but those could be old units with issues). From what I gather, it may be just normal sound of refrigerant passing through the evaporator. If you put your ear up to the front filter area of your unit, do you hear that sound too? I only hear air blowing in your video but maybe you can hear the other sounds when up close to the front filter. Any info is appreciated.
@BobEarnshawMoHo

No, I don't hear anything other than the fans whiring. There is an occasional noise when the drain function is working, maybe a pump or similar. The previous unit had a bit of a rattle from the front grill.

Hi Bob, We watch all of your videos on KZfaq but I didn’t know how to send you a personal message on there. We have been looking at getting the Ecoflow Wave 2 a/c unit for our MH (and home). We were going to wait until the show in October at the NEC to see if they had some offers on. However, some of the stockists are doing good prices now (c £850 for the basic unit). When I see this, I normally think suppliers are getting rid of old stock prior to the launch of a new product in the coming season. So, my question is, are you aware of a new version (maybe the Wave 3) and what additional new or improved features could it possibly have? Should we wait in case there is a new product or get one of the current stock, at a good price, before they sell out? Many thanks Wayne & Janet Smith

I don't know if you still review or comment on old videos but I figured I would give it a try... You're one of the few uk based reviews of the wave 2 that I've seen! Im looking to potentially get 1 or 2 but I plan to use them in my flat as they're smaller than standard portable air con units available but my concern is if they're powerful enough. The maths says they should be but most outdoor usage hasn't been fantastic. As you used your unit indoors could you advise on how well/poorly it worked to cool your living room? I live in a 1 bed south facing flat which has very large windows in the bedroom and living room (they're about 180x180com) which is great for light most of the year but combined with being south facing and 4 floors up, my place turns into a greenhouse whenever we get an average sunny British summer let alone a full blown heatwave! Right now (July 13th '24) its 17c outside, but 28c inside, which is fine but a few months ago when we had high 20's it reached 34c inside despite me using black out blinds and curtains and airing out the flat at night when temperatures went down. I dread to think what it would be like if we had 2022 heatwave again with potentially 40c outside what the internal temperature would get to. Many thanks! Tldr: in your opinion is the eco flow wave 2 sufficient to cool your living room during a heatwave?
@BobEarnshawMoHo

I used an EcoFlow Wave 2 last summer, my Camper Van is maybe half way in the shade, but the cooling ability of it, was just barely not enough through the summer. Hard Sell over a typical 800W single hose portable AC if you have shore power, I think it's more efficient in general though, it does have to run longer as it can't keep up with the Sun where I'm out, so it probably evens out.

@@BobEarnshawMoHo I’m still a “Maybe”. It IS expensive if the performance is so so. There are loads of reviews from influencers, making me think Ecoflow are really pushing it via Social media, but there does not appear to be any/many reviews where people have purchased the items personally. I was thinking of getting one for trips to southern France etc …for those occasions where it comes unbearably hot in the MoHo. The other option I was looking at for that would be the portable Eurom AC2401 split AC designed for a caravan/Motorhome. I'm using my W2 in our Living room. Using Top rear Vent to Exhaust hot air out with the 5 inch hose. Thru the Glass Sliding Door with board and hose attachment. All sealed tight. We are not using the Intake 6 inch hose. This makes compressor works more efficient. Chill Fan#2 or #3 works fine. Not using Max setting much.. Insulate the Hot 5inch Hose is VITAL. 55F degree cooling air is common. Often 30F degrees cooler than ambient room temp. We attach Delta 2 Max to W2. Feed about 600w Solar from Array. W2 often draws 350w to 450w. By time Sun is down. Delta 2 Max 2000w battery is charged up. We don't use the wall power charger much into Delta 2 Max
