Evocacs always say not to use cleaning solutions but I've used both white vinegar and cleaning solutions that specifically leave no residue (something like Rejuvenate floor cleaner) all without any problems and the mopping performance is greatly improved. On particularly stubborn stains then a pre-soak by spraying strong cleaning fluid onto the stain (and leaving it for 20 minutes) before my T8 does it's thing, is also recommended.

Tried it last night for the first time. I'm impressed! Did "deep scrubbing" with water settings to "high" (not max). It wiped everything!

Even a human mopping would fail if they simply pass the region one time. The point of robot mopping (at least until they can react like a human to noticing a sticky spot) is to lift fine dust and grime that a vacuum doesn't. It's not to replace heavy wet mopping and scrubbing. You can see how even your motion with Swiffer was not a single pass but you adapted, put a lot more water and went back and forth until you could not see/feel sticky. In sum, soon we will have sensors that will know when the floor is yucky so the robot could do the same.

Exactly! That’s why I always say that robot mops are not for heavy messes, but juts maintenance mopping. Although some come closer than others.

You have to tilt the thing around to get rid of air bubbles from the reservoir. The way you did it in the video didn't fill it :) I love this thing - I use it once a week and the apartment is very clean :) But I don't have birds poopin' on the floor LOL

Thank you for a nice review Mr. Roombato. Did you do any measurements on the water usage of the mopping system? I suspect mine is using very little water and I have been in contact Ecovacs, but they cannot tell me how much water the mop uses at any given settings.
@MrRoombato

Unfortunately no, I didn't. But I can tell you that the water usage is extremely small. That little container can "mop" my house twice on the highest water setting.

I'm not sure if I like these "drag a rag" type moppers. I had the 1st gen Scooba and now have the 2nd gen. Was thinking of getting a + Pro Ecovacs but not sure if the mopping abilities are a selling point for me. The Scoobas put down water, using brushes, scrubbed the floor and sucked up the water. It didn't SMEAR or drag around the gunk like these do or would do in theory. And there would be no cost advantage of just using a cheap swiffer.
@MrRoombato

I had the same thoughts, but it doesn't seem to affect things much in practice. Though of course the self-washing capabilities of newer units changes things dramatically.

"You know if I did smart home reviews, Google would be in trouble" LOL. That's so true. When I was deciding on which smart home assistant to go with, I ended up going for Alexa devices. Now, I got about 20 Alexa devices. I do, however, got 1 Google assistant for free by KZfaq when I been subscribed to them last year. And let me tell you... Google Assistant is inferior to Alexa. It always keeps telling me something went wrong when I've had no such issues with Alexa. I could say: "Hey Google... play Spotify."--Google Assistant thinks for about 10-12 seconds and then says "Sorry... something went wrong". I say the same thing on Alexa and no issues.
@MrRoombato
@MrRoombato 2 жыл бұрын
I actually had the exact opposite experience. Also, Alexa is better in some ways (some friends have it working in their home) but it's definitely dumber. I tried asking it things for several hours while visiting friends and while google assistant is dumb, alexa is several orders of magnitude dumber.

Nice review. I’m wondering what’s the performance with cleaning solution instead of water
@MrRoombato
@MrRoombato 3 жыл бұрын
I don't think it would change very much, because of my experience with the iLife Shinebot. What would change, I think, is using a LOT more water. If you want, I can make a video where I use the exact same cranberry juice stain but then spray the @!@##$ out of it with regular water just before the robot passes over it. I'm kinda curious to see what would happen, but I suspect it will clean most of it. The shinebot would definitely pick it up if I lay down a puddle just before it passes.
@MikeyTsang
@MikeyTsang 3 жыл бұрын
@@MrRoombato I see. Yeah I think it would be interesting to see if the robot succeeds at cleaning up the cranberry stain if there's alot of water on the floor beforehand. I also have a more general question about whether the pro mopping module is any better than the original T8 mop
@MrRoombato
@MrRoombato 3 жыл бұрын
Okay, I'll put that video on the list. As for is it better? Yes. A lot better. Is it 100 dollars better? Probably not. Considering that the included one doesn't really do more than if you mildly wet a paper towel and very lightly dragged it along the floor, "a lot better" isn't saying that much. Think of this one as wetting a paper towel and actually wiping the floor. It's worth doing but it won't accomplish much more than picking up dust. I highly recommend you invest in an iLife Shinebot. It's a little less than twice the price of this attachment when on sale.

I wouldn't worry too much about using something like iRobot's mopping solution. I didn't use my T8 for mopping for very long, but I did use that solution and I can't see it damaging anything. If it does wear out in a year, buy another one, and consider it part of the cost of clean floors.

The T8 and N8 come with a standard mapping pad (that does vibrate) and are-usable pad alongside some disposable pads. The pro mopping attachment is standalone and vibrates for improved mopping.

I would like to know how to have the deebot ozmo t8 mopping system release more water. It seems to hardly go through any water from the reservoir and all I see are streaks on my floor. I would like to see a continuous line of water. I thought the app would let you control how much water to release but there is nothing for an Ozmo t8.
@MrRoombato
@MrRoombato Жыл бұрын
There is, if I remember correctly, a setting in the app for water level, but I never had any luck getting it to release enough water. I ended up wetting the pad in the sink before use.

Which is better 360 S10, roborock, S6 Max VI, Ecovax T8VI, Deebot Ozmo 920, Dreeme L10? I wish I knew all of the AI vacuums. I know I robot has one that's over 1000 but don't know if any others but could you please give these a first, second third place etc of overall which is the best to least? Object avoidance, especially importany as we have a lot of dog Toys, bowls etc as well as cables as I'm chronically ill so have a ton of medical equipment on top of a lot of other plus in items such as my power chair, iv infusion equipment, smart drive, watch that controls it and more which is big reason I'm looking for AI not we have about 2/3rds carpet/1/3rd hard Flooring (tile, bamboo, fake wood etc)
@MrRoombato
@MrRoombato 3 жыл бұрын
Of the ones you mentioned, only the S6, T8, S10 and L10 have object avoidance. The S10 isn’t that good at it. The L10 is good at it but can’t identify objects so it may come into contact with pet waste. The T8 AIVI and S6 Max V are very good at it. The S6 is better but the T8 has an available auto-empty station and is better on carpets. But its app is buggy. If I didn’t care about self emptying bins, and I do, a lot, I would pick the S6. Otherwise I’d go with the T8.

@MrRoombato
@MrRoombato 3 жыл бұрын
@@sssboi2104 I may actually skip both...I've gotten reports from subscribers that the rubber brush and/or floating brush housing are scratching their floors. But if that were not true, I would skip the S7 because all hybrid robots suck at mopping (it's part of their design, they can't help it) and I don't want to pay top dollar for just another LIDAR robot. It's just not interesting to me. If you don't care about mopping, and if floor scratching was not a thing, what's the difference between the S7 and something like a Neabot N1, which costs under 500 with the auto-empty station? Now...with AI, that becomes interesting. So if it were not for scratching, I'd get an S7 AIVI, or whatever it will be called.

Can you recommend the best Vaccume robot for house!
@MrRoombato
@MrRoombato 2 жыл бұрын
It's really hard to recommend something at the moment. A lot of new stuff is just around the corner, and everything on the market has serious issues. Except the Neabot N1. It's not the best, but it's pretty good and so far, at least for me, trouble free. I would recommend the Roomba i7+, because it's reliable, robust and works really well, but the tech is so outdated at this point, you have to be the sort of person who just wants something that works and doesn't care about having the latest and greatest.

how does this mopping compare to the braava m6?
@MrRoombato
@MrRoombato 2 жыл бұрын
It doesn't really. There isn't enough weight on the scrubbing pad. That's why the M6 is so effective...its mopping pad takes the place of the caster wheel and the weight of the robot presses down on it. It's also why the m6 stinks at crossing floor dividers. Hybrid robot mops, even the best ones like this ones, are only good for keeping floors clean. They can clean light messes but that's about it.

@MrRoombato
@MrRoombato 3 жыл бұрын
None of these hybrid robot mops can deal with heavy messes. They are meant for light messes and to keep your floor clean. You can improve this thing's cleaning ability, however, by using the washable mopping pad (you can get it on there...Adam's Tech Reviews has a video on it if you have trouble). The best way to use this is to use a normal mop or a swiffer on big messes and use this for "maintenance mopping."
