Yeah, it's a good robot. Works without issues. Although mine did decide to divide my livingroom into two rooms which killed my schedule, but that was the only hickup so far. It may not be the best mop, but it's a good enough mop, and the rest of the robot is solid.

The mop on mine does a spectacular job! I've had it for a few weeks and have used it every other day and the dirty water bin is far dirtier than I ever would have expected. This also goes to show what a terrible job my Roomba 9 vacuum and Bravia mop did!!!

Not really...my robots mop every day and the dirty water is still black. It's impossible to keep up with dirt. Your Brava Jet did a pretty good job, it just didn't have a dirty water tank for you to look at. But yes, this is a good mop if you use it for what it was intended for.

I push the like button on every one of your videos I watch. One thing I have come across, is that all of these top tier robots only have a 1 year warranty. My N8pro+ recently broke 1 month past the warranty period. I wanted ot switch to roborock since it (the company/several products) has the best reviews on amazon. But they too only have a 1 year warranty. That is a LOT of money to spend every 1.5-2 years. The money makes sense for a 5-10 year product, but their warranty needs to make that happen. So if any company does a better warranty, it would be greatly appreciated if you meantion it!

I like your detailed video review. I have been watching your video on roborock s7 maxV and Eco X1 OMNI reviews. Even the comparison video as well. Actually, I was never interested in robot vacuum last time but since my mom passed away last month and i am working full time, I had to get something for my dad as i noticed the house floor is not the same as it was before. My house doesn't have carpet so it is marble. The only carpet is at the toilet door where you dry your feet. I actually bought Robo s7 without the dock and it lacks of something i need which is the obstacle detection. So i needed to get an upgraded one. So far, X1 Omni and s7 MaxV caught my attention. I'm not from US, so the price here is kind of different. The cost of X1 Omni is USD 1,189 and the cost of Roborock maxV is 1,270 USD over here. During the promo, Omni is priced at USD 999 with free dust bags x3 while MaxV is at USD 1080. X1 has 2 years warranty while MaxV has 1 year warranty. I am in dilemma because of all reviews i read, everyone pick roborock for better job. From what I heard the robots now can perform before than before after their firmware update.

I actually ordered the X1 Plus, that's the version that just has the self empty bin, even though I have all hard floors and no carpet, I don't use the mopping feature of my bots very much, I might send a bot out to mop once or twice a month so automatically washing the mop pads and having a spinning mop were not a big deal for me, I think the plus version has everything else. I wonder if the dock is any smaller than the dock for the omni since there are no water tanks. Ecovacs has some really good prices on their web site for the X1 series, that's why I bought one, it will be interesting to see how well the app works with speech, I had to get sighted help to place the order, there is a really nonstandard check box that you have to check to indicate that you agree to their terms and there is no way to do it with the keyboard. Of course, the app may not matter as much with this bot since it has the built in voice assistant, hopefully that can allow me to access the features I need in case the app doesn't speak very well.

Thanks very much for this comprehensive overview. With respect to the app, can you confirm that the map doesn’t periodically get lost and, when you restore it, all of the no go zones and room labels that you’ve set up have to be redone? I have this issue with my ecovacs T8 and it drives me crazy. Otherwise it’s a really good product.
@MrRoombato
@MrRoombato Жыл бұрын
Yes, I can confirm that. I also have a T8 (AIVI) and I no longer use it because of that. Drove me insane. This one doesn't do that. One time, for some reason, it stopped being able to locate itself and I had to have it do a mapping run and redo the rooms and no go zones, but that was a fluke/glitch and the process was very quick. I've had it for months and it's only done that once, and I have no reason to think it will do it again. This robot reliably completes its nightly scheduled cleanings every day unless I forget to drain/fill the water tanks.

I have teh N8 and it's neve rlsot the map. The only anoying thing is that it does not let you set room dividers except from exterior wall to exterior wall. It also will not let oyu set clean zones (savable/namable boxes in the middle of a room). I have an open floor plan and the roomba jet map is MUCH more suited for that. It appears Deebot is not keeping it's app consistent across vacuums. Like each product has a differnt mapping experience. That is not good. It sounds like they will do very little support for old products making the lifespan shorter, especially when things are not fully featured and glitch free.

I'm assuming there were a lot of changes in software/firmware between this review and now. Our Omni X1 mops much better than yours depicted (with a consistent coverage of moisture, not in deep cycle mode), and the current version of the Ecovacs app definitely lets you do a mopping-only run. It's just a switch option in settings.

Yes, that part was updated, but I haven't noticed any changes in mopping except for the mode with more overlap. That helps, but it's not a game changer. Got my X1 Plus, that one is currently selling for $849 on the Ecovacs web site, I'm not really interested in the mop feature and as far as I can tell the vacuum system is the same as the other X1 models. So far I like it, since I have a visual impairment I use my iphone with speech and I'm happy to say that the app reads really well. I had a couple of issues while setting up this bot. First, I have heard that the side brushes are color coded, I don't have enough vision to read print, I can't usually identify color but I can tell if something is light or dark. The two brushes feel the same, would something bad have happened if I put each side brush in the opposite place from where it should go? So far the bot seems to be working fine. Anyway, I could tell that one of the brushes definitely had more contrast than the other one, and I noticed the same thing on the robot, not sure what color each brush is but I attached the brush that looked a little more distinct to the port that also looked more distinct from the other one so hopefully I got it right, both brushes are definitely spinning and I think they spin in opposite directions. Would they not spin if I got them backwards? When it came time to connect the bot to my network I ran in to what I think is a design flaw. I tried connecting a couple of times and it just would not connect, it failed every time. My router is dual band so 2.4 GHZ coverage is not a problem and my other bots work fine. After thinking about settings that might cause this I figured out what the issue was. To make my network more secure I had my router set not to broadcast the network name so it was a hidden network. Of course I have a password on it too but I figured that having the network name not show up when someone searches for wireless networks would also help. Not sure about the other Ecovacs bots but this one definitely will not work unless the router broadcasts the network name, even after it was set up, I tried hiding the network again and the bot could not connect to it, so moving forward it appears that I will need to allow my router to broadcast my network name, I would rather not do that but if I want to use this bot, which I do, I don't have a choice. Every other device I have works fine with a hidden network so I'm not sure why this robot has a problem with it. It does seem to clean really well. I discovered one quirk with the Yiko assistant. If you ask for the battery level and the battery is less than 10 percent, it will ask you to charge it, even if it's already charging on the base, it should only do that if it's not already charging. Over all I'm glad I bought it, it's a good robot but I do think the Roborock S7 Max V is a little more polished if that makes sense. I might try the mopping feature but from what I can tell, there is no mop only mode similar to what the Roborock S7 Max V and 360 S10 offer, the most you can do is put the vacuum in to the quiet mode but you can't disable it while mopping.

All of the problems of the X1 OMNI have to do with mopping. Otherwise, it's a very good robot. So the one you got should work out great. Well, not ALL of them...lol...but all the serious ones.

@@MrRoombato I looked again at the two side brushes, they really do feel identical and actually there seems to be no easy way to remove them when the time comes to replace them, unless you have to pry them off. I'm just wondering if I should try to get sighted help to make sure I matched them up or if it doesn't really matter. Both brushes are definitely spinning so I'm wondering if it really makes a huge difference. I will probably never use the mop on this bot, since you can't disable the vacuum I would be afraid that some water might be sucked in to it, sometimes I wonder if it's better to just have separate robots for vacuuming and mopping, trying to combine them seems to complicate things. The navigation does seem really good, one interesting thing I've noticed, not only with this bot but other bots that have a setting to disable obstacle avoidance, when that is disabled, it takes longer, sometimes much longer to clean my place. I did email Ecovacs about the issue on their web site, when purchasing from their site, on the last page of the process, there is a check box you have to click to agree to their terms that is totally inaccessible with speech. Unless they fix that, any blind person who wants to order from their site will need sighted help to place an order. Because of that I was a little concerned about how the iphone app would work but I was pleasantly surprised at how accessible it is. I'm not sure if I will continue to use Yiko, that bot is in my bedroom and my Google home is also in there and it often responds when I call for Yiko, Yiko is one of those things that is kind of neat but not really necessary. One other thing I've noticed, and I'm not sure if the omni is the same way, the battery on the X1 Plus charges rather slowly. It takes 5 or 6 hours to charge it when it's almost dead, most bots charge in 3 or 4 hours at the most. At first I couldn't find how to turn on the robot, this is the only bot I have that has a power switch.

I have the newest app and firmware but I can't find it, I looked on the smart cleaning screen, the smart cleaning setting screen and the more settings screen. I decided to do a little test to compare the navigation of the X1 Plus and the Roborock S7 Max V, I deleted the maps on both of them and then sent each one out to clean and build a new map. I had the obstacle avoidance disabled on both of them, I don't use that feature on any of my bots since I don't have pets and I find that the robots clean better without this feature enabled, and they seem to cover everything more thoroughly with obstacle avoidance disabled. It took the X1 Plus 61 minutes to complete the job and it had 30 percent of the battery left, I run all of my bots on maximum power but I was starting to wonder if it would complete without having to return to base to recharge. The Roborock S7 Max V took 45 minutes to complete its cleaning job and it had 59 percent of the battery left. I couldn't really tell what was different but the Roborock definitely got it done faster. Yes, I am testing and will release a video. Unfortunately it doesn't make much of a difference, or at least not enough to make it competitive with Roborock or Dreame. It's better for sure, but the robot's main issue is that there insufficient contact of the mopping pads with the floor.

I bought one of these for £1300 - a complete waste of money. 3 months later it as sat in the corner of my kitchen, completely non-functional. The main brush on it is cheap plastic tat that falls to bits after a few weeks. You can’t replace the brush without spending £30 on a “buddy kit” which contains loads of other stuff which won’t have worn out yet - filters, dust bags etc - the brush supplied in the buddy kit failed after 3 days. I then spent 6 weeks trying to get a response out of their hopeless customer support team. The device then started behaving erratically, stopping 10 minutes into a program and complaining of multiple non-existent issues. The x1 Omni isn’t a bad vacuum - it’s just a brand new item, released with beta software and a support program incapable of actually providing support. Unfortunately these two issues render it useless after a couple of months and when you’ve spent over £1000 on a unit that leaves a pretty poor taste in your mouth. Avoid like the plague

I've never heard of brushes failing. What exactly is on your floors? :) As for glitches, have you tried rebooting it (turning it off with the hardware switch and turning it on)? It's always possible that you have a defective unit. The X1 OMNI if FAR from my favorite robot, but it works every other night with few issues and gets the job done.
@DominicJonesMrShed
@DominicJonesMrShed Жыл бұрын
@@MrRoombato it’s not the brushes themselves failing, but the rubberised plastic “bearing” which seats the brush in the housing. This wears away really (in a matter of days) quickly causing the brush to rattle around in the base of the unit to the point where the drive spigot becomes disengaged and simply grinds away at the drive mechanism. I have two long haired dogs whose hair gets trapped in the brush - I think the problem is that their hair also gets wrapped around the end of the brush-bar (there is no bearing in there it’s just a bit of flimsy plastic held on with a small rubber o-ring) - either way, not something that should cause a brush bar to perish in a matter of days

@@MrRoombato in respect of the software issues - oh yes I’ve turned it off and on again :-D - I’ve factory reset the device multiple times. Ecovacs (to their credit) have agreed to send me a replacement unit - I will be sure to reply here if it solves my glitchy software issues. I think the answer to the main problem however is going to lie in re-engineering the brush mount to something more suited to the job at hand. (The rubberised plastic is the sort of thing you find on cheap knife handles, that falls off in the dishwasher after a couple of cycles)

@@DominicJonesMrShed No it isn't. I have two dogs, one long haired that sheds a lot, and two teenage daughters, and I have never experienced this. Either your robot is defective or there is something unique/different about your floors. What kind of floors do you have? Any rough stone?

Well, they're all Chinese robots. :) Some of the companies are American, but the robots are made in China. But I get your point regardless. iRobot is resting on its laurels...they still outsell everyone because they have them in big box stores.

@@MrRoombato, it's not just location of manufacture: Chinese companies store the data in Chinese data centers. They do not have to obey European or US law, or at least there is no way to enforce it - not that US privacy laws are that great either. I hear irobot or neatorobotics is trying to change the manufacture to Malaysia to avoid tarrifs.

I have had this robot for several weeks and it is astounding just how dumb it is. Even with the camera, it rams into objects and keeps ramming until it just stops. And no, they aren't black objects. The camera seems to do nothing. How can this robot with object detection detect fewer things than my old Roborock S4 without the camera? Don't the bump sensors do anything? I've seen it push light tables around the room, etc. I'm considering sending this POS back.
