I like x1s, they drive like a hatchback, plenty of room for a small car. It’s fun to drive and good on gas. I drove a 2019 x1 28i, those can do 0-60 6.3s tested by caranddriver. I felt like it had a nice pick up.

I love BMW's. I have an E60 2006 BMW 530i. I have 160k miles with the original water pump. I heard horror stories about the electric water pumps, but I am glad the B48's have a mechanical water pump. I scan mine often to see if I have codes. Once it show up I will change it. Lol!

For sure, I would start with the Inline 6 if you are OK with that, Improve audio/video, etc access and plugs in the rear seating space as well as heated seats front and rear. Previous to 2017 the BMW X1 had some issues. The timing chain issue. Possible hydro lock of the engine from going through a puddle because of the positioning of the engine air filter intake tubing. Then there were some issues with oil leaks. Did 2017 restyle solve those issues? Does it have run-flat tires? Is there a temporary spare tire? Does the engine have an actual manual dipstick?

I love X1, for me one of the most beautiful SUVs ever, even though a lot of people think the opposite. I have a first-generation model (E84) 20d x-drive from 2011. It has the infamous N47 2.0 diesel engine (with 177hp), but I guess it should have been improved considerably compared to the early version of N47. Anyway, I'd love to hear your as well as other people's honest opinion on this particular X1. Btw, I was advised to preemptively replace the timing chain at 200,000 km, which I would assume is a smart idea, given the history of the N47?

Honestly thats a moderate gamble as it runs the older n20 and early generations had timing chain guide ramp issues. Not all cars or engines but numbers were a bit higher. I believe service history is important and check TSB bulletins and NHTSA reports for anything tied to this vehicle, but with decent miles, and history it could be a fun little vehicle, for the right price. Do not overpay for it. Thanks for the mention and how are you enjoying the X4?

Great Visibility, peppy enough (I have the Xdrive). A small SAV(suv), with room proportionate for a small SUV. Great sound, front LEDs on 2016 better front lighting than non-Leds. AC is okay, my older Toyota is better. Beautiful Estoril color. Get the larger display screen. I like the dial displays on the dash and not the led display. I put Alexa on Wifi and it rocks in this vehicle. Need to disable the autoclosure (dealer disconnected the sensor) on the 2016 hatch. Rate it an "8" on a scale of 10.

great vid 👍 , is this bmw more reliable than the other bmw SUV's cause I was thinking about buying a bmw X3 xdrive but then i changed my mind because of something that i found and read online , I read that the bmws could be made reliable but they choose not to make them that way because they make more money in repairs and maintenance than they do in actual vehicle sales , if that's true then that's messed up it makes me wonder if other luxury SUV are made that way too

Dealerships are in the business of sales, repairs and mainenance. Bmw is a separate entitity from dealerships. Profits from repairs and maintence go directly to dealerships, except for some parts that BMW also profits from.

Look at the Toyota Rav 4 . Big rear cargo area. Good reliability. Easy to get aftermarket parts. Not bad gas mileage for an SUV, you are never going to get great gas mileage in an SUV. This car the BMW X1 was refreshed in 2017 . It became a bit bigger. The previous BMW X1 up to 2016 had a lot of problem areas . Timing chain issues, possible engine hydro lock if you went through a puddle due to the position of the engine air intake, oil leaks and breakage of the oil filter plastic area. They are cheap to buy but there is a reason, bad reliability and are expensive to fix. It is a BMW so it will take premium gas only. Even if you are a DIY person parts are also expensive for a BMW.

ExoticCar PlayPlace Mercedes Benz grabbed up a better marketing advantage over bmw for the last 3 years, and it’s easy to understand that they’ve lost their way after bangles departure, reliability is keeping Lexus relevant, because they too don’t have the best exterior styling, they are king of being reliable, AUDI and Mercedes-Benz are reaping all the benefits, I personally know many bmw drivers that jump ship to Porsche, Mercedes Benz, and Audi, bmw only has a better conversation with their older vehicles, these newer breeds are falling short.

I want to but a 2016 BMW X1 later this year, what do you recommend? Should I get it even thought it’s 4 years old? Worried about reliability and want to keep it for maybe 5-6 years

It's a BMW,you need an extended warranty. Transmission is a reliable Japanese unit by AISIN.$1000 DME tune will give you 330hp/340 TQ. The engine in this BMW is a detuned B48, the same as in the 2.0 Supra.

@@DenisDamulira23 You are the most incorrect person in the whole discussion. The car is quite reliable, what is not is the transmission 🤣 This Aisin 8 speed in X1 is very well known for having a lot of issues. I talked with many BMW specialist in my country and they all tell me the same when I asked them about their experiences with this transmission in X1. So the transmission is a weak point, you can see many X1 which has replaced transmission in warranty, then it should be solved, but is it really or it will be again problem after 100-120tkm? Who knows. They also used different transmisiion 7 speed DCT for some models.
