"I don''t feel like dancing," I heard myself say. But that was the whole point. Lose the excuses! Just dance anyway. Just SHOW UP as you are. That internal struggle can be what gives your dance power. Those dark places can be a source of magic. These feelings remind us just how ALIVE we are.
This project to dance my own depths and heights was made to honor my own range of emotions. The force of emotion felt in the cave was an incredible release, and challenged my comfort zone. Afterward, the levity of joy found dancing with the sequoias felt much MORE ecstatic because the contrast of the struggle "carved out a deeper Heart Bowl to hold more joy." (in the caves and with the Sequoias of Calaveras County)
From the depths of Mercer Caverns to the heights of the Big Trees in Calaveras County, our inner landscape can have just as wide a range. This dance project demonstrates that contrast of feels in dance.
