Dr. Chris Abbott attended medical school at Texas A&M and psychiatric residency and geriatric psychiatry fellowship at the University of New Mexico. He received research training with the UNM CTSC Master of Science in Clinical Research, UNM KL2 Career Development award, and the Mind Research Network’s Center of Biomedical Research Excellence. He is the Chief of the UNM Neuromodulation and Geriatric Psychiatry Divisions and UNM ECT Medical Director. He is the PI for several NIMH projects focused on ECT, electric field modeling, and clinical outcome biomarkers.
1. List three anatomic factors associated with electric field variability associated with fixed ECT pulse amplitude.
2. Describe the relationships between electric field strength, neuroplasticity and antidepressant/cognitive outcomes.
3. Propose two solutions to individualize “ECT dose”.
