Ed Sheeran is out with his second album of the year, "Autumn Variations." "CBS Mornings" co-host Gayle King listened to it exclusively with the singer, who discussed the inspiration behind the record and shared how he feels about being called a pop star. He also talks about why he's managing his expectations for this release.

Great interview and thank you Ed, I’ve been on my own and the road for awhile, I was a homeless 13 year old busking with my guitar in the street. Seeing you make it is what kept me songwriting and hoping for a better future. I got out of homelessness at 17 thanks to my music. I’m 21 now and my 3rd album is coming out on Spotify and other platforms which is still really surreal to me. I have over a million streams on Spotify alone and it gives me so much hope. Just a few people listening is already enough for me, but I wouldn’t be here doing what I love if it weren’t for you Ed. I’ll hit the big stages one day, I promise, I’m proud of you Ed. Hope people can say stuff like this to me one day. :)

I think this album will give me a soundtrack for what will come and what will be. American town sounds like something we can all be proud of! Each song is about a friend. 14 friends, they have to figure out if it's about them or not. None of these songs are about Ed's life. American Town, a little because obviously it's about his wife and spending time with her in New York when they started dating.

No, Gayle, I don't remember the song. I don't even know the artist. I was just curious to stop in and see who would appear on TV with such shoddy grooming. I'm an old fashioned gal who desperately misses the days when good grooming was a thing. 😢
