Music is a spiritual thread and this was culturally universal too. I grew up in Detroit white and 1980 I left for the military and my girlfriend who meant EVERYTHING to me her dad separated us literally in his eyes I wasn't enough and she just turned 17 living under his roof so he won. I was attempting suicide right after he physically got between us said I'd never see her again, but praise Jesus that night Jesus saved me and stopped me. I loved this song always reminded me of her and my experience. God I loved her.

I LOVE Benny! When he came back to Syracuse area we went to see his performance at a local beach town bar…. Very SMALL VENUE! He saw my straw cowboy hat while I was dancing and put it on while singing on the bar’s platform for band’s area he was so generous with his spirit and time! We met after the show a genuine loveable and appreciative of his fans kinda guy! He was humble even tho he didn’t need to be … his show included solos by Kim Fetters both knocked it out of the park that night in such a small intimate venue.. Benny has ALWAYS Been a Syracuse Utica Rome fav and is adored by many… it truly was a distinct pleasure meeting and speaking with him! I cherish my photos of our meeting and chatting with him as well as him wearing my hat backwards on stage while dining his famous Into the night song..also kept the signed new washcloth lol by him :) 🫶🏻👍🙏🙌💃😁✌️💗He is truly missed and absolutely his talent was overlooked and not promoted aptly imo or appreciated by HOLLYWEIRD and the tempestuous music industry :(
