Two months before I retired I pointed out a security violation in my command. I did this through the chain of command. The Admiral wanted me to retract my statement. I refused. I spent the next two months feeling like a bug under a microscope. My discharge review was the worst evaluation I received in 23 years. Glad I had refused and was a happy camper when I left the base.

I hear you. The Department of Education is the same way. If a teacher or union rep criticizes the principal or files a union grievance he or she will get a bad evaluation. Luckily an arbitrator reversed my bad evaluation just as I retired.

@@Rockybalboa541 Yes, I had been paying attention, I paid so much attention *I literally mentioned that he had 6 other charges leveled against him, including killing an unarmed non-combatant* The remaining charge that he _was_ found guilty of has literal physical and inscrutable evidence associated with it.

@@KaiTenSatsuma Precisely, all other charges dropped because they lacked evidence. Whether he should get in trouble for the photo is up in the air on ethics, but the law says it's illegal, so be it. However, everyone being corrupt doesn't help.

@Kaitensatsuma The issue at this point is the Chain of Command trying to poke a stick in Chief Gallagher's eye because they didn't get their way. The man was found not guilty of the only charges that mattered and of the last, it could and should have been handled under Article 15 of the UCMJ. A letter of Reprimand would have satisfied the offense. Trying to strip him of honors is about as low as you can get.

I've been in the Navy for 20 years, and there are too many career admirals, and they don't care but their legacy. They're overly political, they're agendas are over safety and common sense. This people are very comfortable in the Pentagon and tells soldiers in a sandbox how to do their job. Also, why do we have so many admirals and high ranks, we didn't have this many in ww2.

Being in the Navy for 20 years, I can tell you, I had a Senior member lie on me, to get me NJP'd just to make a point because I didn't do something extra and outside the purview of my duties. Needless to say, I still retired with all gold on my uniform.. Leaders are vengeful in the military, they don't care who they hurt to get you when they want you.. I know this first hand!!!

He was the staff NCO in charge. You can tell who hasn't served in the military. If leadership such as SNCOs advocate for a certain behavior that is unbecoming of being a US servicemeber, it doesn't matter if all your subordinates did the action along with you, you are the one who is going to be either NJP'd or court martialed because you advocated and condoned the behavior.

Have you read the stories from multiple journalists and publications about Gallagher and Trump leading up to this? What about all the soldiers, retired or currently serving honorably, who criticize Gallagher for intimidating witnesses and Gallagher’s peers who suppressed the complaint(s)? This is shameful, Gallagher and Trump aren’t serving America’s interest nor reflecting our moral standards, they’re burning them, much like burning the national flag.

The brass was silent on Bergdahl because President Obama didn’t think it was appropriate to interfere with military justice-at least until a case had worked its way all the way through the system. Trump jumps in Halfway through the process, almost like he doesn’t trust the military to ever do the right thing. At least give the military justice system a chance; one of the nice things about being President is you can wave a magic wand and make it all go away long after the fact. No need, then, to short-circuit the process.

Ask those families about the “military justice” they received when Obama and his “top brass” allowed the anti-American deserter to return to active duty in the army with five years of back pay totaling $300K as a reward for his crime against the US military he hated so much. Trump did trust the military to do the right thing. Gallagher’s squad mates testified on his behalf. It was the misconduct by the prosecutor and mishandling by military officials that exposed their lies and ultimately doomed their case against him.

The charges that were dropped were far more significant and troubling. Members of his own unit said he murdered women, old men, and at least one young girl. He was accused of taking random shots into buildings with no enemy in sight. Now he's accusing an Admiral of insubordination for simply stating that Trump needs take the proper steps to halt a review. Twitter is not the proper venue. Looks like Trump has changed course for now and will let the review take place.

MNTribeFan well for starters your on watching a News story about how Trump reversed the unrighteousness demotion of A navy seal in the face of the navy's disregard for justice and circumstance. Couple that with what he has done for the economy, prison reform, (and personally for me, what he has done for Israel and that horrid Iran deal), I'd say quite a lot of wrongs have been righted, atleast in the eyes of many, many conservatives. You may not like it, but those are all inherently good things for the u.s, and I hope trump keeps on with this identity as someone who is willing to step in and interfere accordingly when he sees an injustice happening in his country. He stepped in when he saw the injustice of the Penal system involving Alice Marie Johnson and her sentencing, and he stepped in when he saw the injustice of maritime/admiralty law that was being persecuted against Navy Seal Eddie Gallagher for his service to the u.s.

HE PERSONALLY did not make the unemployment rate so low.... the markets did that. The positive economic trend started just after the great recession in 2008 and has continued until now. If you look at graphs, there is no significant change which is related to the Trump era. -I'm not sure I know what 'prison reform' you are referring to that Trump 'made right' -You do know that he partner in Israel, Netanyahu, was just indicted for corruption, right?

I'm at the half-way point in this video and so far no one has stated what the original charges were or what he is accused of. On another channel it was reported a man in custody was killed by Eddie Gallagher and then he posed for a picture with the corpse, I do not so far see this being reported here, when they report of the charges I'll come back with an edit, if there is no edit then there was no mention of his charges which adds up to a deliberate slant to this story being unfair to the viewer.

If you feel you have no recourse - and look at the antics pulled during his trial - you will go to the public. The whole thing is an embarrassment to the SEALs, but 1)the president wants and needs the UDT tradition to survive this. There will always be boss positions. He needs to make it possible for guys who get the job done to believe in going for the BUD/S course. So he's going to defend his warfighters over his chiefs, 2)if every action of elite forces is scrutinized, they will not be able to operate in secrecy or be used to their maximum potential. Let me tell you why I admire these guys the most - not because they have undergone ridiculous training and been deployed to very dangerous places or are extremely resourceful or get to pick any weapon to use. It is because their bosses are Congress and unelected executive branch connivers, and the sheer number of shitheads who won popularity competitions and political machine scams to get seats is downright scary. To put your life on the line at the command of pure feces political scum like that is a tremendous additional act of bravery - one I felt was a waste. Those who do it, God bless them.

It's a sad fact that the senior officers in the Navy look down on enlisted men like the European Nobility of the Middle-ages looked down on serfs. This is not as prevalent in the Marine Corps because a large number of Marine officers are "Mustangers", (officers who were once enlisted personnel).

My understanding of a Presidential pardon is that it erases what ever charges and results of the criminal proceedings and restore a person, namely Eddie Gallagher, to his full rights and privileges as if he was not guilty, to include his rank, status, benefits, pensions, etc...

Actually, it's not at all that. It's a recognition that the individual is guilty of what they were accused of and has been forgiven of the offense. Penalties and punishments are suspended and no new prosecution can be initiated on the same crime. In the military, that's a difficult tightrope, as how do you keep an honor given on someone who is still guilty of conduct unbecoming, even if "forgiven"... having the Commander and Chief personally involved even muddies the waters more.

He didn't admit that at all. He made a vague reference to using his hunting knife in a text message. But we know the ISIS fighter wasn't stabbed because a) multiple independent witnesses testified there were no stab wounds and b) another man confessed to the crime- a medic actually killed him by suffocation. That's why Gallagher was acquitted and found innocent in court. Know who isn't a good person? Someone who accuses an innocent man of a crime they have been cleared of.

Despite Trump's pardon of Gallagher, it's important to note Navy investigators found cause for concern and acted accordingly. The US Navy is no joke and their decision on Gallagher should be upheld as final.

Of course, not everything in war is forgivable but, it still is war. The optics are never the same as the situation in the heat of battle. If you're shone a snap shot photo of me or you holding a smoking gun and standing over a dead body, does that mean you or I actually did it ????? no, Not 1000% of the time nor was it done out of pure evil !

When you take his word you are saying that he has more valor than his fellow seals(some say it is upwards of 7 different seals making allegations). No, smh. I was never a seal but I did serve and I know it takes alot for your brothers to turn on you like that. A lot!
