@@fgfg633 Its just the etymology of the word transgender. It was coined in the late 60s but wasn't put into mainstream use until the mid-late 90s. So when trying to describe yourself to a general comedy audience in the 80s you use transvestite and cross-dresser which are terms that they are familiar with. Even if the word doesn't match what you really feel or the word later transitions to a more separate meaning.

Same but opposite on my end. I'm a male, very strong genes, I'm plenty athletic and built well, but raised by my mother and we were just close and open. We talk a lot. I express myself freely. I don't repress. I refuse. That just leads to violence. I believe men need to be freed in society to be more expressive. The loving, silly, goofy, cuddly parts of men need to be seen. And as a result I am becoming a well rounded MALE. so same but opposite and I've come to this conclusion that there IS a balance in all of us. And the only reason we have sexes is just to propagate the species. But emotions and thought etc should be more fluid. Men can and should feel. Men can and should cry. And men that do also shows that we have positive intentions with others. To protect that which we love. My experience with psilocybin healed all the toxic childhood masculinity crap thrown at me about not crying, I get why they were doing it, to protect me, but we all have to be focused on the ways to express oursleves not to repress the emotions completely. A time and a place if you will, and being more private with someone but still being free and honest with yourself and our loved ones. Repression leads to lies and deceit sometimes as well and makes relationships fracture and fail. Never keep a man from expressing his thoughts and he will (if he's mature and in his right mind) see that and be so respected by it, he will rise to serve his loved ones even more. If you make men actual feel loved and appreciated and HEARD, that man will move mountains

If there is an agenda it is to come away with a deeper understanding of who this person is how can we find common ground underneath it all, when on the surface we seem so different. With all due respect & at the risk of sounding like an old lady, my heart is broken for this gottcha generation who only knows how to shout somebody down to brow beat them into submission & use some twisted form of peer pressure to exile them from existence if they refuse to conform. I've loved Eddie since I was... I must've been 18. I remember it was 2000, I was watching TV, flipping through the channels, saw a stand-up comedian and flipped back to see if he was funny. Turned out to be "Dress to Kill," on HBO. I had a VCR and spare tapes I would record things on so I quickly threw in a blank one and started recording. Luckily it was very near the beginning, and later it came on again and I was able to record the parts I missed for the full show. The first couple times I watched it, I was crying with laughter. I had never seen anyone that funny. I loved his style, the Britishness, the take from being an "executive transvestite," the stream-of-consciousness type of speaking. I loved it. I eventually bought "Glorious," and then when I moved up to a DVD player I got "Unrepeatable," and "Definite Article," then "Circle." I still have yet to get his more recent stuff. This interview really explained a bit more about transgenderism, as I came down to the comments to understand why he was now referring to himself as transgender after all those years of "executive transvestite," and "action transvestite." I have tried to be very understanding, accepting, and supportive of LGBTQ, and I think I'm still figuring this part out, but it seems Eddie has always been Transgender but from what I read after hearing this interview, he identifies as both male and female, which I didn't even think about but makes sense. So I guess for years he was using the best word to describe himself, either the word that he needed and found a better one with transgender, or the word the audience would understand better until we embraced the word transgender. I don't know the history of the words and politics. But yeah, so I've learned today how Eddie really identifies and honestly, even though I know better now and have learned something, and it will stick with me... I feel like nothing really changed. His identification of himself, all that, hasn't changed really how I feel about him. I've always been "ah, good on him," for his personal stuff, but mostly I just respect him as one of my favorite comedians ever and I love him for having entertained me for so many years. Thank you, Eddie. And if any of you have read this whole comment, and are curious... My absolute favorite quote from any of his specials, that I have quoted myself many times with absolutely no reactions (no one ever gets it.) is, "Holy Ghost, this is not an episode of Scooby-Doo..."

Seeing younger people take a stand resonates with older generations who had to struggle with the same things. Of course, people will make a fuss and say it's all for publicity, but I feel like the people that know these people and paid attention to them over the years will know the truth.

I remember seeing Eddie when I was super young in the late 90’s before i was even 10 on some show on Comedy Central. (I was the problem child) All i thought back then was, cool a dude who likes to wear make up. Now I see Eddie as one of the funniest yet most bad ass intelligent people who ever lived. Rock on Eddie, rock on.

@@te9591 Eddie literally just announced she uses female pronouns but as someone who is non binary with testosterone this stuff still bugs me. He watched a trans woman explain their involvement with both genders stuff and him being a cis straight dude sees a girly man just goes "so you you're more into chick stuff?" no dude just listen please so we can get along.

Thanks @Joe Rogan. This interview helped me look at Transgender People as People instead of the Label Transgender. The labels we attach to each other are constantly keeping us separated instead of seeking understanding. Great Show! ✊🏿💪🏿🙏🏿

Hey, this is awesome! I see so much negativity when it come to trans people here in the JRE comments, it's great to see some positivity. This is what the world needs, to see trans people as people, rather than the term like you said. So much negative stigma attached to the word, and most don't personally know any trans people, so it's really easy to fill those people's minds with lies and fear mongering over stuff that isn't true. Have a great day!

CTEM Coasters! Thanks. I’ve been trying to get people to see people as people instead of the Labels we attach to each other. We make the labels. The labels don’t make Us. Make it a Great day.

I see them as people too but I see 92% of them most likely confused and corrupted.

@@michaeldiamond76 I'm sorry you feel as though trans people are corrupt. I'm not sure what else to say because you didn't really provide any reasoning, but I just wanna say I hope that you do some more research on trans people and their struggles. Definitly not corrupted...maybe confused but I'm sure not about what you think they're confused about.

Sad the amount of people who probably didn't even watch this clip and instant disliked. People are ignorant to the point of being cowards (by completely dismissing anything new/challenging). Also Eddie is more "manly" than so many men lmfao. Strong physically and character
