As a Temptation and a solo artist Eddie Kendricks rose to the occasion!! As a solo artist I really admired his sound and style. He had such gems as " Tell her love has felt the need","Thin Man", "Skipping Work", "He's a Friend","Shoeshine Boy","Girl you need a change of mind","Going up in smoke","Happy", Trust your heart ","Girl of my dreams.I'm not at all into astrology but I did like his song "Son of Sagittarius " My favorites of all his solo efforts remain to be "Tell her love has felt the need ", Shoeshine Boy", "Thin Man" and "Skipping Work". Such a great talent with a voice of velvet! Love you Eddie!! May The LORD allow your spirit to rest ❤🙏

As a solo artist he was known for that hit along with "Boogie Down" but for me he had so many other songs that were so much better than those and should of been as big as those if were given the proper promotion. Eddie didn't have a great relationship with Berry Gordy and in addition to that Berry's main focus was making Diana Ross a big solo artist.

@@timothyypearsonI believe you. Remember the reunion tour? Dennis Edward's said all of them were taking drugs, not just David. Another Temptation wrote in his autobiography that Otis was always jealous of David.

@@sandraatkins2539 It's easy to assume Oti was jealous of David because he's the only one left and David was popular but problematic but it's very likely that he wasn't jealous. With all of this being said I've never since any of the temptations or former, claim that Otis took money. Otis has said very vocally that he was using illegal substances as well, that they all dabbled and they all had their own vices. He also stayed that David wasn't a bad man just troubled from his trauma.

Eddie Kendricks was my favorite Temptation, there are countless songs that when I hear his beautiful falsetto it brings me right back to a special time in my life, when “Just My Imagination” came out I went out and bought the 45, I played it until I memorized every word and called my 7th grade crush on the phone and sang the entire song to her..needless to say after that she became my girlfriend, great music can have profound effect on your emotions and I cherish that memory. Thank you Eddie for blessing us all with your beautiful God given talent 🎙️👏🏽🙏🏾🕊️

I love Eddie so much ! When he came to Georgia, (where i moved after Motown ) I got a call telling me to get to GRC studio ( where i worked backing vocals for various artist ) When i walked in the door, Eddie stood up (and everyone with him) gave me a standing ovation..Wow !!

We saw the Broadway production 'Ain't too Proud to Beg' (great must see show). At the sad ending they had I think seven deceased members in white with their backs to the audience. The guy playing Otis said 'Just my Imagination' was his favorite song and after Eddie sang/recorded it, he never saw him again. A young lady next to me said they're still together. I said yes, but I'm a double nickel baby and it is not the same growing up with this music!

Some of your info is too repetative and inaccurate and there is not one quote from any of his children! I never knew Eddie to have a problem with David Ruffin - Otis and Berry (and Melvin for always agreeing with Otis), yes but not David. And it wasn't the "pop" or commercial direction, as you initially said, it was the move away from individuals leading to the psychedelic round house (where each member took a line) that he had a problem with. Notice that when Damon replaced Eddie, he was not given that many songs to lead! Dennis, however, much like David, was much more prevelent with the leads despite the change in direction! He did not initially leave The Tempts - he just wanted to do a solo album yet remain in the group (like Michael and Jermaine did with The J5), which was the original agreement (as evidenced by the other Tempts signatures on the back of his first solo album) but when Motown changed their mind, he decided to leave. The proof that it wasn't conscious material can be found in the fact that Eddie recorded songs like "My People Hold On", "Girl You Need A Change of Mind", "Someday We'll Have A Better World", "Goin' Up In Smoke" and "He's A Friend." The pictures are great but they do not always correspond with the members in the group as his story is being narrated. And Eddie did NOT define their sound with the hits "Ain't Too Proud to Beg" or "Beauty Is Only Skin Deep" - David did! As a background singer on those songs, he was no more significant than Paul, Melvin or Otis! Good try but you needed to check with someone with a little more experience before you released it so it would have been more accurate!

Eddie died more than 25 years ago, 1992 is more like 32 years ago and the songs he sang lead on were not "Ain't Too Proud To Beg" or "Beauty's Only Skin Deep"...those were Ruffin led...the songs that showcased Eddie's prowess would be their first R&B charter "Dream Come True" per 1962. Most notably "The Way You Do the Things You Do", their first pop charter per 1964, the title track off the first Norman Whitfield produced project "Get Ready" per 1966, "Your My Everything" circa 1967 and ultimately with the 1971 masterpiece "Just My Imagination". Other than that, great video and your appreciation for the single greatest record label of all time is deeply appreciated by the Motown community; peace(:

Eddie was one of the kindest most humble Super Stars! His humility was angelic. Can you imagine being Eddie Kendricks and never demanding or expecting preferential treatment. Anywhere! "Eddie and Dennis were both true performers and legends to the very end. What I do not understand is that Eddie and Dennis had recorded one more album before they died. This is not their last performance. They performed in Los Angeles and Palm Springs, where they recorded the album. When they finished the album, they toured out of the country for a brief time. They were supposed to return from their tour to start promoting the album. But the tour was too much for Eddie, and when he got off the plane, the operation he had on his lung had taken his life shortly after. There is a lot more to the circumstances that have never been told. But I could stake my life on it that the ending of Eddie's life is not the way the record books have recorded it. He was a gentleman, thoughtful, and one of the greatest singers this world knew. I was proud to call him my friend."

90% of your comments are inaccurate bcus you're another one who follows the rumors mill. Otis is my bro-in-law (I was married to his brother who passed). Otis at 82 years young is still an active and touring member of "The Tempts ". Otis and the Tempts were in Detroit Oct.5th,,and I was in the audience and he was here in August of last year when his stage play opened here. My youngest son tours with him. You're quoting many inaccuracies from the movie which was probably only 75% accurate. They ALL didn't run out and buy Cadillacs with their 1st checks,, those things didn't a happended. Berry had people to teach the acts with Motown to manage their,, taught them etiquette and charm. David,, Paul,, and Eddie struggled with substance abuse before they became famous.
