EXCLUSIVE : BEHIND-THE-SCENES Footag of EDDIE HALL doing the famous 500kg DEADLIFT WORLD RECORD.
One the most remarkable ‘FEATS OF STRENGTH' ever, but Eddie paid the price.
With the record attempt by Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson coming in May 2020 will EDDIE's Half Tonne Strongman Record Lift at The World Deadlift Championships in 2016 be beaten?
if he does it - it may or may not be an official record in the fans eyes - but be in no doubt, it will be an impressive feat of strength if he does it.
Video Includes:
Eddie HALL, World's Strongest Man 2017, Deadlift World Record Holder
Bill KAZMAIER - 3x World’s Strongest Man.
Žydrūnas ‘BIG Z’ SAVICKAS - 4x World's Strongest Man, 'Big Z Strongman'.
Colin BRYCE & Darren SADLER - Co owners of GIANTS LIVE, The Promoters that Staged the Largest EVER strongman contest in Leeds, England in 2016.

What percent chance do you guys give Hafhtor Bjornsson of doing the 501kg? The backstage footage was found only a few weeks ago - and although this is a tale told already the discovery of Eddie with the paramedic's desperately attending to him was a surprise to us. Enoy8 and - and we wish Hafthor the best of luck with his brave attempt.

Hafhtor Bjornsson is a very strong deadlifter, Eddie said that he has never lifted more in his gym than 454kg, and Hafhtor lifted 470kg without "andrenaline rush", he has a very big chance, but even if he lift it, a mother that sees her childrens under the car will be stronger!😂 (I hope that Hafhtor will lift the 501kg)

In Eddie's mind, he was doing the former and in reality, he was doing the latter. He did not care in that moment if he dropped dead as long as his kids got out from under the car. Of course, sometimes this is to a fault, but those seconds he held it up were magical and I would have done the same.

@@mercutioescalus6782 The fact that he was the first, pushed an enormous boundary for strength sports, and nearly died after completing the lift, just collapsing in front of thousands of people in a stadium. I can only imagine how he must have felt. It's one thing to play in the NFL, it's another thing to have every single fucking person within a mile radius looking down on you standing on the platform with a bar loaded with 500kg resting on it. All the spotlights shining down on him. Hands down the most epic record of all time. If Thor gets 501kg it won't be anywhere near as memorable as Eddie's 500kg. It will be identical to all of his instagram videos, just a small group of people yelling at him while people stream it to their tvs. Thor is a fucking monster and if anyone can break 500 it's him, but the 500kg deadlift was way more epic given the circumstances and events that took place.

@@sdaffhtkufgdf but if you're taller you are able to hold more muscle mass in the same areas of the body, as surface area of bone is higher

It doesn't matter who pulls more, this was the first time someone did it. Eddie STARTED the half-a-ton-club and since no-one ever thought he could do it, it just makes this lift an extraordinary moment in the sports history. There was always something magical/mythical about 500kg. If Thor lifts it too and joins the club that will be fantastic and he will have his own moment, in history but that doesn't take anything away from what Eddie did and what he risked to do it. I wonder how many men will join the half-a-ton-club over the next 10 years? I'm going to enjoy finding out :)

Eddie also has a MUCH smaller frame than Hafthor. Hafthor is just HUGE.

By your logic, the first human to ever deadlift is the greatest deadlifter of all time. "It doesn't matter who does it first, the important thing is who does it best" - B. Magnusson

Considering the fact that the 1000 lbs club is still pretty exclusive, I am guessing not many.

what means it even more fascinating is that 465kg jump to 500kg and the record is held for 3 years without anyone cming close to the number until Thor

The road to greatness is not paved with compromises, its paved with blood sweat and tears. Eddie is an absolute unit and he wrote history. I still think everything post lift could have been better though...
