This movie and songs changed my life so many years ago. When losing focus on the things that really matter in life I just try to hear these songs to get my focus back. Time to watch this movie again I guess. Thanks Eddie Vedder & Sean Penn. Peace!

I have watched the movie so many times, read the books, listened to the cd's in my car and if we all could sit back and see that we all live in this world of situations that have become us, every year is pretty much the same. Life is creating your own legacy your own story. Live life in a way that creates new experiences. I understand that instead of a society that really was created for us to live by live life the way you want to! FREE!! from our sick society!! Think about it we were conditioned from birth to be the way society has us to be. Its there way from the start we really dont have a life of our own. Now go live your life the way you want to and dont let anyone control you...

He’s a company man through and through and doesn’t give a shit about anyone or anything other than toeing the company line. @@eddievedder1443 honestly- not since “Into The Wild”, but your soundtrack makes that whole movie experience ineffable. I have watched it many many times, both because the story hits home to me, but also because I adore your soundtrack. Thank you. I am quite sure writing the music for this movie had a very deep impact on your life. The song “Society” makes me smile and cry every time I hear it. Can I ask you something? Don’t you agree that happiness is only real when shared?

2021 - Dec - haunting - this mans story is also tragic - horrendous - wondrous - and sad - to quote something else - we all die - but not everyone truly lives - I feel like all of the world should view everything in this way - we are in a race to destroy everything

One of my favorite songs bar none. I've never understood why McCandless didn't think of how that bus got there as that was the way out. I do admire him for his minimalism and he was a tough kid.

Never saw movie but the song is a tremendous vision of how so many of us want to leave materialism behind and live a natural life. Society puts too many materialist pressures on us and we've lost our soul to insanity of an ugly world. Give me the beauty of nature and freedom anytime. Make sure it's not too cold and I want my partner then we have a life of love and reality.

i think its ok for people to feel the way this young man felt sometimes but i think its important to keep things in perpective. theres a reason why our ancestor fought, died and ventured into unknown lands. Verdade! Ele foi corajoso o suficiente pra viver da forma como o coração dele desejava, mas falhou como humano. Ninguém é perfeito e ele não entendia isso, depositava muita expectativa nas pessoas. Surgiram tantas na vida dele mas sempre estava fugindo. Não ouvia ninguém. Essa paz de espírito é encontrada quando há esse equilíbrio e aceitação de que nem tudo está no nosso controle.
