I got to take (a couple) tours of the Edelbrock Carburetor manufacturing facility in Sanford NC earlier this year. What an amazing experience to see how these are made, machined, inspected, tested, loved and built every day! Grateful for their hospitality and opening up their facility to show me all the details and answer all my questions.

*To all the folks at Edelbrock* thanks for all the fine work you do! Makes me happy to see people proudly making great American products. And kudos to Edelbrock for making their carb manufacturing home at the old Carter plant. That's cool and as a guy who grew up on MoPars it warms my heart. This was a real treat.

Just made sense. They had all the tooling and experience making the competition series and it was a simple change over to making the Edelbrock. I hope they’ll always be able to make them here in the US.

@@MuscleCarSolutions giant corporations often determine the course that makes the most sense and then seemingly deliberately do a 180 from that so kudos to them for being sensible. i really appreciate that they do qc checks during the process. in the end it saves money and shows where edelbrock's head is at. thanks for bringing us along!

Excellent video thoroughly enjoyed every second makes me want to rebuild every Carter and Eddy I have and I have modifed thremoquads drilled passages great to see the drilling process lot of people would use nothing but a holley but I love to work on them all. Thanks for sharing this with all of us.

Just like there isn’t one camshaft profile that’s best for a 440. It’s all situational. Sometimes an AVS2 is the best choice. Other times, not. Glad you enjoyed the video! I enjoyed the visit! Gave me some ideas for some future projects this winter!

First off, thanks for putting this one together. I can't say how much I appreciate you bringing us along to show this behind-the-scenes at such a legendary facility! Another great video! Just so cool how old-school the manufacturing process is. Definitely shows why there is such consistency in the carbs over the years. That step-by-step QC is almost like the best of the cottage industry meets assembly line work. Consistency seems to be the right word!

I work in the facility where the carbs are cast. It is in Oak Ridge but the name of the company won't be said. We cast these things 20 hours a day, 5 days a week

@MuscleCarSolutions we have one die cast machine that is 95% dedicated to edlebrock. We actually have 2 brand new dies, one for air horns the other for the base. We actually make everything from car/truck parts to restaurant equipment. Not only are we dedicated to sending out the best quality castings, Edlebrock is very hands on with us as well. They definitely care what the consumer receives

I was there probably 10 years ago. I thought it was called magneti marelli at the time.

It was. That was the ownership of the manufacturing and facility at the time.

That's awesome!! I noticed on the side of my Edelbrock 1406 it says Weber. I think I got my carburetor in the early 2000's. I also sent you another email. Did you get it?

There have been a few different brands on the side depending on ownership at the time and if they had purchased new tooling. Weber, Magnetti Marelli and now Edelbrock.

@@MuscleCarSolutions have you every messed around with those blaster plates for the nozzles? The look like they would atomize the fuel better than just a stream. That would be a cool video

@BPattB it’s all subjective. Just like other snake oil products. If you properly tune a carburetor, there’s no need to spend $50 on something that might make you feel like you’re making improvements, but practically impossible to quantify.
