The guitarist at 3:50 is Jerry Weems. The guitarist at 20:40 is also Jerry Weems. The rest are Ronnie Montrose.

1972 Swing Auditorium San Bernardino I was front row. One of the first few shows with Ronnie. Everyone was calling him Derringer but I knew it was Montrose.

Jerry Weems. That's him every time you see the guitarist playing a white Gibson SG. He replaced Ronnie. Then he got replaced with Rick Derringer after it was discovered that Jerry was AWOL from military duty. With Ronnie, Jerry or Rick, the Edgar Winter Group was one of the most talented, diverse bands of that or any time. Their albums included straight rock 'n' roll, blues, country and AM radio pop. They were the perfect band. But when you have that much musical diversity on one album, it confuses radio programmers, record labels and the public who by and large prefer their artists to stick to one style of music.

That makes sense. I wondered about Jerry's haircut while filming Rock n Roll Hoochie Koo. Looks very military for a Rocker back then.

Dan Hartman, the bassist, was an amazing musician and singer. R. I. P.

He, like Edgar, could play ALL of the instruments that were on the stage, extremely well! I saw one festival show where I ended up driving Edgar, Ronnie,& their manager back to the hotel after their set. Edgar & Dan Hartman traded off instruments for most of one song during the show. Incredible how great Dan was too!

Amazing song - thanks for including some clips with Jerry Weems

Not all of this is Ronnie Montrose. The guy playing the white Gibson SG is Jerry Weems on guitar. Ronnie is playing the Les Paul Junior in the second clip & the Les Paul Standard on Tobacco Road. That's Jerry Weems on Frankenstein. Jerry Weems playing the white SG.

I saw Edgar with Ronnie playing the Hollywood Paladium in '72. Had I only known that was Ronnie at the time, I would've paid more attention to the guy on the guitar that would become MONTROSE.

When did Montrose leave and Derringer join? Or did Montrose replace Derringer? Or did Derringer leave, Montrose joined and left, and Derringer came back? What was the sequence of events in the life of the EWG?

Hi carlygtr554l, YES, I make collages on topics from the best videos I can find for entertainment (I'm 70). No insult intended (I don't sell or promote anything). I recognize your name, so I've probably used other videos you made,(dont know what)(if i used it-it's the best out there). If anybody is really upset or unhappy about it, I just delete it---NOTHING IS MINE--it's all for info and fun, truly hope you will accept my apologies, be well... Mark

On the "Frankenstein" performance, I don't think thats Ronnie Montrose on guitar. He looks like a guy that Johnny Winter has used a few times, live.

It is Rick Derringer on the live Frankenstein video.
@guitinator2 жыл бұрын
@@garyhancq7444 Do proper research. You're WRONG!!! It's Jerry Weems. Here' another video. Rick Derringer is in the front playing a black Les Paul. How can that be Rick Derringer on the same white SG as in the Frankenstein video? Because it's NOT Rick Derringer. it's Jerry Weems. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/adRmYM6Vu9jRhnk.html
