who needs another new gps when the varia are unchanged. it's a marketing trick and not taking care of Garmin's customers. you have to carry two different cables with you

My Garmin Edge Touring just died two days ago. The ON/OFF button shorted out the unit and killed it when the housing around the button caved in for no apparent reason. Totally pissed. Until that moment it worked just fine. Did I mention that I was pissed.

Unfortunately, you changed the position of the mount on the back, so if I wanted to buy the 1050, I would have to change the mounts on my 3 bikes (what I will surely not do)

And still not able to track/register multiple bikes. I don't know anybody that uses the same bike for mountain and road, or gravel, TT. We should be able to assign different bikes per activity profile, maybe based on sensors. The X40 series has an odometer, but it's not accurate when it logs all the miles of different bikes under the same number.

You can in the connect mobile app. You tell it which bike you use for what activity type. It is not done in the edge. Works just fine . Basing it on sensor is the way from years ago and it was not working

I would really love to tie profiles with different bikes and sensors configurations. For example power meters, cadence will be different on Road, MTB and Trainer.

Transmissive display instead of a transflective display is a HUGE step back for a device that operates in daylight almost exclusively. Direct sunlight will make it harder to see. It has a larger battery than the 1040 (Garmin says the weight penalty comes mostly from the battery), but has way less battery life because of the display choice. Also the change of mount placement makes it not being compatible with most aftermarket aero mounts (that were snug fit) and it is a huge kick in the nether region. All-in-all it's a very disappointing product for that hefty price tag.

I own the Edge 1030 and the OS is just clumsy. Almost all 3rd party Apps lack stability and features. Garmin have dominated this underserved market for too long. I predict that the first brand willing to opt for an Android OS will surely thrive and eat Garmin’s lunch!

I hope not. The beauty of AMOLED comes with serious battery penalties that aren't worth it for any serious fitness device. If you're reading this, Garmin, I'm still pissed about the forerunner 265.

Too expensive. Too heavy. And according to other videos, I would probably need a new holder because the mount on the device has "slipped" upwards. I have an expensive one from CloseTheGap. But we're not talking about that here. Group ride stuff - I don't need it. Longer ride 30 down to 20 (1040 - 1050)🤔🫣 How do you avoid fake hazard warnings? And it will be funny when the computers give turning instructions etc. during an Race, RTF…😂

Unfortunately I’ve had too many failed Garmin products to further invest in the company from the ears breaking off my edge 1030 to constant crashes of my 830, all problems reported back to Garmin with Zero response suggests the company doesn’t care about customers once they have sold products, plus rubbish metrics, how can I deliver my best performance of the year with a body battery of 30! and training readiness score of 1? as soon as I can get one I am investing in the new Hammerhead Karoo, goodbye Garmin
