It's pretty freaking impressive that this game found a way to put classic "HOLY SHIT" anime moments into a story about two lawyers arguing back and forth.

As an avid Phoenix Wright fan myself, I have to say that I couldn't help but laugh when I got to this part of Case 3 for the first time! I don't think Edgey has ever been so awkward in the courtroom other than here!

I have a feeling that Edgeworth objected because he knew the error in the witness' testimony, and he was trying to signal Phoenix to examine the testimony once again. Even if it meant a not guilty verdict, it was the truth. That is why the placement of this "objection!" wasn't called off, or dismissed.

Kinda wish they did this a bit more in this game series. The prosecutor is always pictured as some cool and calm individual, only to trip up when we present new evidence or come up with a theory they cannot break through. It would be nice to seem them blunder due to their own causes and not ours. On a side note, kinda wish they added Edgeworth getting a penalty for his overuse of objections, or at the very least his initial objection as it held no meaning.

Judge: I would like to end the cross-examination of Ms. Vasquez- Edgeworth: *OBJECTION!* ... Judge:...yes? Edgeworth: I wanted to say something but I forgot Judge:...oka- Edgeworth: *WAIT!*

I'd say this is a very important moment in regards to Miles's character development.

Edgeworth: Good job your honor. You see, *I was just testing you.*

I really love how much he floundered here. He was struggling against 15 years of conditioning- it probably hit him what he almost did to Phoenix in the last trial, by giving the clearly guilty Redd a way out, and is starting to realize that perfection be damned, _this isn't what he wants._

Edgeworth seeks only the truth

I absolutely love this moment because I believe it's the first time we see that Edgeworth does not care about winning only, he can also be interested in finding the truth.

Makes a lot of sense y'know. As a child, he wanted to be a defense lawyer and only sought justice. That part of him's still in there and we get to see it in this very scene.

I really like this part. It shows Edgeworth trying desperately to help Phoenix, even if this means he would lose. I feel like this represents the little part of him who remembers Phoenix, as a lost friend from that part of his childhood which was still normal. He wants to help a friend in need, just as he did that time 15 years ago. I think it’s very nice.

I love those sprites in this game. They all give so much expressions.

Im guessing he got real sad about steel samurai ending-

This has to be my favorite scene in the trilogy. It really shows a turning point for Edgeworth where he starts accepting that Phoenix is back in his life and he starts reverting back to his old self. He even says himself after the trial that seeing him again has given him “unnecessary feelings.” I think its showing Edgeworth really turning from unbeatable prosecutor back to his childhood self. And (SPOILER ALERT) in the next trial he just really gets defenseless and helpless because he cant turn to anybody because even Von Karma turns on him and even prosecutes against Phoenix in Edgeworth’s trial for murder. I especially like the trial after the steel samurai one because it really goes into Miles, Phoenix and Larry’s childhood and we get to see Miles’ turning points in the story. Sorry for the essay, I just wanted to talk about how much I love this scene!

I love how edgeworth is built up to be this stone cold badass and then he does this like an absolute dork

I feel like Edgeworth helped Phoenix in part that he knew Vasquez was guilty, but also because he's a *huge* Steel Samurai fan and didn't want to see Will Powers get a guilty verdict.

In my opinion, this marks the turning point in Edgeworth's character. Where he decides to find the truth, rather than finding a guilty verdict.

edgeworth doing this fits his character really well. Ever since DL-6, he's always wanted to put criminals behind bars, he figured out Dee was the killer, and helped Phoenix. This games writing is amazing

I loved this part so much, not only did Edgeworth tried to help Phoenix but he also became a comic relief
