Edinburgh Yarn Festival 2019 is the scene for Fruity Knitting Episode 74. We have some really fun and interesting vendor interviews, including Countess Ablaze and Toft, and we also have a longer interview with the wonderful yoked-sweater designer, Jenn Steingass. There's lots of background on the Festival, and we're launching an exciting new segment, and it starts off with a distinctive Scottish flavour. We'd love to have your company!

You both Andrew and Andrea are such a gift to the world, that Andrew's sudden and premature departure is only in order to emphasize his value and contribution to us all - in so many unexpected and unpredicted ways. XO

Thank you, I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed this, although I bought SIX of Jenn Steingass's patterns last week! Please do not ever worry about EYF coverage being repetitive, the people-watching (aka knitwear-watching) is STUNNING, esp to Americans who don't see Fair Isle "in the wild" as much. Finally, a personal thank you for including a wheelchair user in the knitwear-watching. Representation of disabled knitters has a long way to go in the fiber community. (Please consider turning captioning on for Deaf knitters?)

I just love watching you two dance. I am changing my knitting as I binge watch through your seasons. Fine timing on my first bottom up stranded yoke sweater. I am exactly at the point where I will add some Jenn Steingass short rows! Thank you for that, Andrea and Jenn. Also, I have been so inspired by Andrea that I have a new sewing machine and my first two projects completed. This is all so lovely. Much love to you both as you change my world from your world. Love and joy to you both in the highest.

Life is always busy but this is such a great opportunity to learn about my fav hobby. I've learned so much about yarn, designers and creators that I never even thought about. Sometimes I so get behind but because I pay I feel more inclined to catch up which is really so much fun.

@@FruityKnitting I feel particularly proud being an Australian from a wool growing family. I wonder whether you'd ever consider doing an Australian feature. There is so much exciting "yarning" going on here; designers, wool & alpaca growers, indie dyers... it is growing so fast. I only knit and increasingly I can find what I'm looking for in Australia. It is so exciting to be able to support my local industry. Anyway, enough ranting... I've got a few exciting episodes to catch up on. Thanks for your work.

Hello dear Andrea and Andrew- thanks so very much for this wonderful episode from Edinburgh- and all your episodes in fact!! From my point of view you've achieved the most wonderful outcomes with your podcast! You've brought the knitting world so close together- with a few taps on my iPad I can be magically transported to the EYF or to a beautiful sheep farm in the US - all from my home in Tasmania 😊 it wasn't until we traveled to the UK 4 years ago that we fully realised the geographical isolation of Australia- and thanks to the wonders of recent years that isolation can be "virtually " overcome- so until I make it back to the northern hemisphere many thanks for all your hard work- it's very much appreciated 🌸

I love the idea of the Makers segment. In the US, where I'm from crafting tends to make us think of traditional crafts, and for some is even considered feminine if it leans towards the fiber arts. The Maker Faires in the US tend to showcase more male oriented crafts, not that there aren't women participating. So, I like the idea of the Maker segment. It kind of says, "Hey, guys this is what we are doing."

Patreon Lisa R on husbands acct Just wanted to say this podcast was exceptionally well presented. Fruity Knitting is always time well spent and inspiring . Yet, Since I felt this particular filming included a daring ,eclectic mix of subject matter as well as styles, it must have been quite a challenge . It was cohesive, well thought out and most impressive ! It seems the Kilt will not have a difficult time becoming mainstream apparel from the popular opinion of your viewers 😊 I absolutely would agree with you Andrea , a move to the UK Andrew gets his kilt-seems like a plan !

I loved this episode, so many talented people who I am just in Awe of. I enjoyed the new feature on the "Kilt" designer and the The Grey and White Tartan kilts. Jenns Yoke sweaters were so beautifully knitted, my favourite yoke pattern were the twigs and trees and so cleverly designed by Jenn. I am only a basic knitter and enjoyed seeing all these talented people and they should be very proud of all their achievements. Thank You :-)

I wish you would cover shoulder fit and neckline fit on sweaters sometime. I have narrow sloping shoulders and I find that garments without shoulder seams don't stay in place or sit wrong on my shoulders. For example, a yoke might feel like it's pulling downward on my shoulders, restricting movement. Or if the neckline is wide, it tends to stretch with wear, I generally just choose seamed sweaters/jumpers, but would love to be able to do different styles.

I especially loved the segment on kilts--from the scenes in the intro, to the maker sharing some of his wealth of knowledge, to all the lovely men wearing kilts throughout the segment. Your podcasts were a cut above from the beginning, but they have evolved over time into something really special! By the way, Pia recently had her name legally changed to Sofia--or did she already mention that to you in Edinburgh?
