Rajendra Soni Omg Edith Piaf was loved by almost all of France. She started out as impoverished street singer, but once she was discovered by Louis Leplée, she rose to fame. Her debut album would be acclaimed by a famous French actor, Maurice Chevalier, who was in the audience of her first singing appearance in a night club. She would expander her career into theatrics that same year (1935) and she began singing in music halls in Paris regularly. She would even go onto work in a film called Étoile sans lumière. Most of the songs she sang were about loss, love, and heart ache. It reflected her personal life, being abandoned by her mother, her poor childhood in a brothel, and her scandalous and tragic love life. She always sang with great passion and was able to move any audience to tears. After her death, their was a large funeral attended by thousands of people. Several movies, plays, and biographies would go on to be written about her. Oh how I envy to sit in a cabaret listening to Piaf like my great grandmother did. If angels are real, Édith Piaf was truly a blessed angel sent down from Heaven.

I don't need to "look up" the history, I saw her at Carnegie Hall in 1956 and again in Paris shortly before she died. I was more interested in complimenting her than "insulting" the audience. The Carnegie Hall audience (the most sophisticated I've ever experienced) acted like they were in the presence of God.

Eyes which make me lower mine a laugh that gets lost on his lips this is the image without retouching of the man to whom I belong when he takes me in his arms he speaks to me softly and I see life through rose-coloured glasses he tells me love words everyday words and that makes me shiver he came into my heart a piece of happiness whose cause I know he’s mine and I’m his in this life he told me it, he swore it for his life and since I spotted him I can feel inside me my heart beating nights of love without end a great happiness has settled replacing boredom, sorrow, phases happy immensely happy when he takes me in his arms he speaks to me softly and I see life through rose-coloured glasses he tells me love words everyday words and that makes me shiver he came into my heart a piece of happiness whose cause I know he’s mine and I’m his in this life he told me it, he swore it for his life and since I spotted him I can feel inside me my heart beating

This song can only be sung in French because there is no rolling of the R's in English (also it loses something in the translation) and the only person who can sing this song and do it well is Piaf. 🇦🇺😷😷😷

Edith Piaf sang through pain. She had *rheumatoid arthritis* and at that time there was no real treatment so even with an opioid addiction she was still self-medicating with alcohol. She succumbed to liver disease so it's safe to say she was always singing whilst in pain. That voice! Such a volume of emotion and ascending tonality! *Bravo Edith, bravo!*

Just because someone doesn't like this doesn't mean they like Justin Bieber. That's a very ignorant comment. It's just different sounds. Don't act like you're better because you think this is "real music". Not everyone will like this. And that's okay.
