Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced that the BJP plans to reintroduce electoral bonds, in some other form, after wider consultation, if they secure victory in the Lok Sabha elections. The Supreme Court had previously deemed the scheme unconstitutional, citing concerns over transparency and the potential for quid pro quo transactions. Sitharaman noted that the government has yet to decide on pursuing a review petition against the court's decision. She emphasized the need for extensive consultations with various stakeholders to develop a framework that ensures transparency and prevents the infiltration of illicit funds.

Serious illegality in the scam is taking money through bonds from loss making co's and newly floated co's. These are clear cases of shell co's being started to launder black money stashed abroad which can be very serious as those money's could be drugs related or terrorism related etc apart from the fact these electoral bonds were used as extortion money through threats of ED, CBI ,IT raids or through sweet deals through quid-pro-quo arrangements as in the case of Megha Infrastructure being granted projects in Maharashtra & tunnel contracts in Uttarkhand etc.

Their is a very basic principle, that is being violated through the introduction of electoral funding schemes. Can a recognized political party use any organ of the Indian State to collect money from private citizens. As elected representatives, members of a party are under a solemn oath to the Constitution. They can use party offices/ platforms to appeal for funds. So the electoral bond scheme introduced through Parliament has rightly been declared as unconstitutional/illegal by the Apex court. In a way the Finance Minister, when she endorses the scheme, with a promise to bring it back, is automatically in contempt of the apex court.

I feel that the SC went half way. If a scheme is unconstitutional, it means that it is not covered by any law in force. It is unlawful. Funds obtained by the unlawful scheme are illegal acquisition and must be frozen in the recipient account or moved to the Govt treasury. The SC allowed the political parties to retain the sums so collected. It has given an unnatural advantage to the ruling combine. There is also the news that even after the bonds were declared unconstitutional, an inventory of bonds of about 10000 crs still existed for purchases. This is blatant. We have added a huge number of young voters in the last ten years. All of them in the age group of 18 to 28 age group. They will decide who will rule us.

Sir, the recent move by Modi to meet young gaming streamers was such a brilliant move, everyone is praising it as a great move to promote gaming industry in India even though he did not propose anything substantial that can promote the industry. Just his presence was good enough. When I watched that I was gutted feeling it was such a huge missed opportunity for Rahul Gandhi to reach out to young first time voters. I don't understand what RG's PR team is up to but he would have been better suited than Modi at communicating with young people, talk about games, discuss ideas about promoting this industry and understand other aspects of what GenZ faces today. Bad judgement. Giving money in hard cash which has no trail is something no law enforcer can catch. To ensure the trail of cash through Banking channels the Electoral Bonds were introduced. Now as usual after 7 long years the SC has finally woken up and declared them as illegal. How ridiculous !!!

What stopped them from having wider consultations before putting this electoral bonds in place? Had they followed the constitutional norms and held discussions with all the constitutional and judicial bodies they would have come up with a better and more transparent ways of funding political parties. First indulge in dictatorial ways and then get rapped by public and judicial authorities and now they say they will discuss this.
