Calgary and Edmonton weather are basically the same. For some reason, Calgarians think Edmonton is so much colder than Calgary. But I’m actually it’s so similar. The huge drawback of Calgary weather is the massive problem with hail storms that causes millions of dollars of damage to cars. So, if you move to Calgary, be sure to have some good insurance as I guarantee your car will be severely damaged at some point

Calgary is influenced more by its proximity to the Rocky Mountains - chinook wind is real! Edmonton does not have this chinook wind, which makes the winters less mild for sure! But yes, hail in Calgary can be bad!

Moved from Montreal, relatively speaking Calgary has a more metropolitan vibe than Edmonton, but in the broad picture, Albertan cities have so much suburbans at less than 15 min from downtown if you want that "family feel", the proximity to the mountains (skiing, hiking, mountain biking, etc) is a huge advantage. (1h from Kananaskis and 1h30 from Banff even with the traffic)

calgary has a more american urban layout with lots of highways cutting through the city while edmonton is a bit less american in feel with speed limits falling and highways becoming commercial roadways in the city (with a couple exceptions, the yellowhead and the whitemud). Edmonton is more affordable, blue collar, and people here generally care less about image or prestige. Edmonton is also far more liberal politically, than calgary which is far more conservative. Edmontonhas a more diverse economy with a larger service sector and some government work - while calgary is more dependent on oil industry for those office jobs.

Calgary is the only major affordable city in Canada for current and future generations Canadians and Immigrants. Calgary also has fastest growing tech, finance and film industry. Moreover, Calgary is also world’s cleanest and most livable city. I am already seeing some of my friends and family members who work from home moving to Calgary to buy home and get rid of expensive rental life in ON or BC. We will see more people moving from BC or ON to Calgary in coming years. Calgary is also sunniest ☀️ city in Canada

no offence but i find edmonton to be a dull souless city. let me say this, you can make a list of things to do and you will get it completed, but cities like Toronto you will never because so much more to offer. i find edmonton core looks sodated the rogers arena did somewhat saved it ,also that new public library that looks like the carcass of a sunken wold war 1 vessel horrible looking architect they always cheap out.photo radar,mosquitoes.-40 winters that peels your skin, big ass dated mall, soviet 80's style architect, meth head downtown core, everyone vanish from the core after 8 pm to the suburbs, lololol
