I personally feel that a super cosmic evil Batman shouldve had a good Batman to end him. I've always loved the idea that a normal powerless man, could kill superpowered brings, with his wits alone. I also don't think that an insane joker-batman, would beg for his life. But whatever

Batman who laughs just feels like someone's power trip wet dream

The Batman Who Laughs is one of those villains who becomes boring. "I knew you were going to do that!" It gets to the point where you aren't cheering for his eventually defeat by the heroes, but you're instead left wondering how in the Hell he didn't see that one coming. What was supposed to be his blind spot? Superboy Prime killing him, sacrificing himself to make the world right, after he spent so long fighting the wrong enemy, would have been more symbolic.

You know when an antagonist was written way too powerful for the story to have a satisfying conclusion when the move that allows the heroes to turn the tide in their favor is called the Retcon Punch.

Gotta say, pretty anticlimactic method of ending the story. A Deus Ex Machina machine responsible for his powers wouldn’t be left vulnerable for Team Friendship to take advantage of, regardless of how godly BWL’s improv and strategic skills are. Feels very shoehorned in, and didn’t even have a Batman v Batman fight to the death, being the one person Batman would be willing to kill: himself.

See, the eyes are often called the window into the soul, and this applies doubly so in the DC universe. I wonder if for the longest time the spike mask was placed there to hide the horror and terror that was fighting to reach out from deep within Bruce's soul. If he only existed out of the fear Bruce has from becoming like the joker, was as easy as to go to therapy. I know is a comic but gosh it was as easy as fro Bruce to stop fearing and start embracing his morality

I like how the ending is a bit realistic where there are two normal men, who did very accomplishing things separately in there life, up to a point in time and then they sort of combined, making an even powerful being who was supposed to be among the best because in all these years no one could kill Batman or Joker. And then the BWL(Batman who laughs) did some things like finishing the just league on his first day and then went on killing gods, successful upto this point. But now some girl comes who was born in a strong household just uses a rope, that was built by someone else, to bind the universes using a forge, that was built by someone else, and just defeats BWL. BWL obtained the power after years of planning(Batman and Joker combined), killing gods, killing himself and transferring his brain and much more. What did the girl had to do -- nothing, she just had to be born, even which she couldn't have done herself, her parents did. It just shows that, no matter how much you try, no matter how much you much beat your ass, someone else is gonna take it from you, who was just born strong or genius. It doesn't matter what you do or how you do you're gonna lose bcuz there was someone who was born with talent.

Well that sucked. This is exactly why I don't bother with comics or comic IPs that much, especially DC. I knew about The Batman Who Laughs and thought it was a cool concept, so hearing that The Darkest Knight has something to do with it, I was genuinely intrigued. And then you said he was a cosmic being and I almost gagged on my own rapidly solidifying spit. Half a minute into the video and I knew it was just gonna be 15 minutes of you reading a list of characters Deus Ex Machina-ing each other until the problem got destroyed by a bigger Deus Ex or just the straight up end of everything, sure enough, took God Mode Wonder Woman dragging The Darkest Knight through to the literal end of existence. This was an interesting concept in the character of TBWL, then rapidly devolved into a fan fiction self insert vs another fan fiction self insert until one out bullshitted the other, except this is official media that the writers expect to be taken seriously and turn a profit from.

Honestly the authors could have easily let him win and go on to fight Lucifer or some other archangel and lose. At least then it would make sense.

It started out great then end up disappointing. His power just all over the place and it's incredible underwhelming to have WW finish him instead of normal Batman or SuperBoy Prime.

Interesting but everything went to insanity pretty fast. Imagine if he was stuck as a normal villain in Batman's world, imagine the personal problems he wouldve gave Prima Batman.

The "Batman Who Laughs" was a pretty good twist for a story and character. But the "Crisis" stuff that DC can't seem to avoid doing all the time, I think leads to just the weakest storytelling, the most juvenile and clumsy storytelling. "But then he got more powerful" is essentially the one story that just get done again and again and again and it becomes artless. The people drawing and coloring stuff are doing great work, but the story... bleh. Is it a problem that originates with DC's editorial staff? Seems like it. The smaller stories are usually better. I think that's why _basic_ Batman tends to sell well and steadily, because it's _usually_ stripped down to just human stories. Until things get stupid and exaggerated and out of hand and it's "fixed" by just throwing together another silly crisis story as cover for yet another big editorial change to try to reset stuff. But there's never any real effort to avoid the power-creep bloat and power-centric stories that always have to one-up one another.

At first The Batman Who Laughs sounded like an incredibly interesting story. But then it just becomes everything I hate about comic books. It's becomes blown out of proportion, and stops making any sense. It loses any interest I had once multiverses, time travel, and all that convoluted bs appears. I mean seriously, how is a reader supposed to comprehend that a character became so strong, that he's above gods of gods and can create multiverses in his palm, yet somehow gets beaten by heroes with attacks like "Retcon Punch" and whatever Wonder Woman was using.

The Batman Who Laughs is one of my least favourite concenpts in DC, it's fun for like a oneshot. However the concept isn't that interesting, it's extremely reliant on Batman and Joker circlejerking. I didn't like the DC metal events, it focuses so much on Batman while making the real Batman fairly uselessin the story.
