Something to add would be a good chair. You're going to be sitting anywhere from 1 to 10+ hours, a cheap office or gaming chair will cause you so much back pain that it will be unbearable. A good office chair is something you won't notice until it's time to stand up and you're not hunched over like a 90 year old construction worker.

3 things. Never use beats by dre in the studio. Dont sit monitors on the table with the computer without isolation under the monitors. Otherwise, it will vibrate and can damage the hard drive's disks. For cheap sound isolation, moving blankets and bed topper foam works great. Have fun and be creative Champs🏆
@prodbynessuno
@prodbynessuno 2 жыл бұрын
moving blankets have worked amazing for me in my experience. and if you want some more just double up the layers. best part is theyre really cheap. also, couldnt agree more with beats by dre. the bass is turned up in them so you'll never get a good understanding of what you're mixing.

Why should we not use beats by dre
@MartyNotes
@MartyNotes Жыл бұрын
@@JadeThaRapper they are preprogrammed to sound better than the true sound of your audio. When mixing, you want a true sound, so if something doesn't sound good, you can hear it accurately and fix it. They are for the average listener, not mixing engineers. Great question though. Have fun! Be blessed 🙌🏾 🙏🏾

One highly important point to mention about condensor mics, is NEVER plug them in when the phantom power is switched on, and NEVER disconnect when this power is still on. Always plug in and then turn on the phantom power and allow a minute or two for the mic to warm up. Before disconnecting always turn off phantom power first. It only takes one bad connect/disconnect to trash your expensive microphone.

I literally went on till my laptop crashed on the CPU use and open a new studio soon in Miami but this time much bigger as my song gave me good revenue.. thanks to winning BBC xtra awards with big collaborations coming soon .so I invest in better now . To all producers and recording studio lovers high five cheers Ax .

I’ve been recording at home for a few years using a desktop and two dell monitors. Presonus USB 2x2 and relatively cheap headphones and monitors. Works ok and I’ve enjoyed it. After some experience, I’m still an old guy beginner, I’ve learned that quality gear makes a huge difference!! Next month I’m revamping my set up with a MacBook Pro, some really good headphones and monitors, condenser mic and stepping up to studio one professional. Can’t wait! Thanks for the video, gave me some ideas. The comments are great as well! I have plenty of moving blankets and the foam bed top for sound deadening the room is brilliant!! Thanks again!

Another aspect may be this one: when you're a beginner you may want to experiment with certain things before spending a lot of money on software. There (still) is a lot a freeware on the web. However, this most often is 32 bits. The quality can be very good. But when your DAW only supports 64 bits this will rob you of this change to try all kinds of software to get skilled or make up your mind about it. Sometimes/often quality of freeware may be not so good, but when you want to try out sleigh bells, tubular bells etc. it may matter.

I started making music and recording years ago via analog and tape reels. Then switched to 4 track cassettes. Next I jumped to digital / portable recording studio machines like the Boss BR-1600 which at the time were absolutely amazing! Now I'm swapping my recording production setup out again and trying to get on board with the newest technology. Music courses through my veins and dominates my thoughts, I simply can't go a day without it haha! Thanks for the simple guide on whats needed and how to set it up!

I also want to add that you can diy acoustic panels and diy perks has a great video on it, also if you already have headphones a program for windows called equaliser apo and the autoeq settings can flatten your headphones

You answered one of my questions about how a condenser microphone works. As it turns out, I work in a computer and electronics store so perhaps I can get some of the items that I don’t already have for home recording. I’ve also downloaded software such as ProTools and Ableton yet it’s hard to figure out how to use them. Thanks for doing this. I’ll be checking out more of your videos.
@prodbynessuno

just some advice: ableton is more directed to beginners rather than pro tools. pro tools is also more meant for live instrument recording rather than heavy focus on synths and plugins like ableton or fl studio is. i have a blue spark SL condenser mic and it works amazing for the price, would 100% recommend to beginners. i also would say to get closed back studio headphones if you're recording vocals as u dont want the microphone picking up the sounds from the headphones. good luck!

@@prodbynessuno Thanks for your input on ProTools and Ableton. I honestly didn’t know what the differences were. In case your DAW doesnt support video directly, you can get quality home video editing software for free - Davinci Resolve has a free edition, or you can buy the full version with a lifetime perpetual license for $300. ( I'm personally not a fan of subscription software like Adobe )

Concerning your DAW you overlooked one aspect, if I may say so. Some entry level DAWs don't offer the possibility to record audio tracks, so when you're a singer songwriter (and you want to record your singing or playing guitar) that may be a problem.

I’m not a singer but a poet who has written hundreds of poems. Lately I’ve been trying to pen song lyrics as I feel so much unheard music playing in my head however it’s very unfortunate that despite my writing abilities ain’t gifted in singing. I’ve tried writing to different celebrities by commenting on their videos hoping I’d find a vocalist who could bring my lyrics to life but sadly all my efforts have been in vain. So, I decided to buy a laptop (bought MacBook Pro 16) with the intent of creating my simple home studio to practice my hobby but now I’m yet to figure how to set up a simple home studio and record my own lyrics. Yes I’ve watched a couple videos on how to set up a home studio but I believe I still need some technical help. Do you think you can help me out bro? Much appreciation in advance.

@@kikodinhoalexandros2534 Hi. I just saw your message, and wanted to try to be of some help to you ( based on my own similar experiences ) all you need to start recording and working on your songs, and singing those songs, are: and audio interface ( to allow you to record your sounds into your computer and save those recordings to work on ) this is done through the daw ( digital audio workstation ) software that comes with the audio interface! 2- a vocal or "dynamic" microphone ( unless! you intend on recording any instruments? like a guitar or synth or bass or even acoustic drums? THAN YOU WILL NEED A "CONDENSER" MIC! which will allow you to use for instruments and voice. the "dynamic mic is mostly designed for the voice, but you can use that for instruments too. its just going to give you a different recording. which you may or may not want?! ( which will plug into the audio interface ) 3- an xlr cable to connect to the microphone, and then to connect that, into the audio interface. 4- ( and this is optional, BUT! i am suggesting a decent mid range priced synthesizer, because it will have all the instruments you need to work out your songs and music! piano, bass, acoustic and electric guitar, all kinds of drums, and built in drum presets so you can just pick a drum pattern or style, and the synth will stat playing a full drum groove for you! which will help you dramatically to develop your sense of rhythm, timing, and give your songs a starting point. ( the groove always determines the "personality" and energy of a song! ) 5- a computer, lap top, some internet device, but i am strongly suggesting a lap top or desk top, because the bigger screens will be much better for you to see what you are working on, and just alot less tedious to be working with. NOTE: when you have the computer? and the interface? just plug the interface into the computer, and the daw audio recording software that comes with new interfaces, can be loaded right onto the computer, and you will have to save that, and study it, to learn and understand it, and practice with it, to know what you are working with and how to use it correctly, to then be able to start working on your music and songs.. I also want to encourage to you work on your own singing! I know you said you dont think you can sing. But EVERYONE can sing! we all have our own unique voices, we just all need to be able to sing in pitch! and there are several pitch's/octaves! so no matter what vocal range you may have? you can still develop your singing abilities.. many of us are our own worst critics!!!!! : / dont focus on yourself! just focus on learning to use your voice to sound the way you want it to sound.. Then share that voice with your music and songs with other people! they will either like you or not.. No one is liked by everyone! its not about that anyway! its all about YOU GETTING OUT THE MUSICAL MESSAGES YOU HAVE TO GET OUT TO OTHERS! AND DOING THAT IN YOUR OWN SPECIAL AND UNIQUE WAYS! THATS WHAT ITS ALL ABOUT! FOCUS ON THAT! ...... If you and your messages and your music and your singing voice are all genuine and sincere? coming from your heart and soul??? and all of that is positive and loving???? THAN YOU WILL BE FINE! Ok... All the best to you! ( and dont forget to go to JESUS for help in becoming aware of yourself and the musical work God our father intended for you! ) MUSIC IS A GIFT! AND THE ABILITIES TO MAKE MUSIC IS ALSO A GIFT! ( and a responsibility for those who have that gift ) to share with the world!
