Video Summary:
Acetylcholine released from parasympathetic nerve endings makes cells of the SA node less excitable and thereby decreases heart rate. Whereas noradrenaline released from sympathetic nerve endings makes the cells of the SA node more excitable and thereby increases heart rate.

How is Calcium entry related with increase or decrease in threshold?
@luisvargas3075
@luisvargas3075 Жыл бұрын
Calcium channels are closed so there is no intracellular flux along with sodium , so if only sodium is being pumped in without the assistance of calcium while potassium is out it will take longer for the cell to reach threshold before the rapid depolarization. Hopefully that helps.

thank you sir! but i wanna ask why does Na not contribute to decreasing threshold in sympathetic activation??

This is very very great ♥️♥️♥️ But I want to know how parasympathetic predominates sympathetic during rest?!
@NonstopNeuron
@NonstopNeuron 2 жыл бұрын
Its just how they are tuned. We don't need extra activity of heart during rest. So sympathetic system is not so active.

Sympathetic = fight or flight response. Parasympathetic = rest and digest. During times of relaxation our body will utilize acetylcholine as a transmitter to reduce heart rate. When we are startled or scared our body also naturally produces norepinephrine and epinephrine to get our heart rate up. We will only use one or the other (sympathetic or parasympathetic) and not both at the same time.

Reading this trying to find an answer why I keep getting ectopic beats. What causes them? Sympathetic or parasympathetic? Anything I can do besides meditation and no caffeine, alcohol to stop them? I have tried so much and suffered for 5 years 😢 thanks 🙏

I’ve heard that a very large quantity of the population is deficient in Magnesium: which is important for proper muscle function, including the heart. I’ve also heard that Niacin(Vit. B3) is very beneficial for the cardiovascular system: but it needs to be the niacin that causes a “flush”; which can be to strong and uncomfortable for some people: their is a “slow release” variety of Niacin as a supplement, which I believe minimizes the potential “flush”. The “flush” is more less a “tingling” sensation on your body.
