Your explanation of the non-aligned muscles was unique to the web and the amount of time that you spent on "self massage" was just enough to help us stick to a trial. I'm a convert. As a former recreational bench presser who probably tore a few muscles, I think I've been waiting for your advice for 40 years. Tkx

This worked! I had been dealing with a sore tenderness in my upper left pectoral/armpit for about a week, nothing was helping, after watching ur video around 3pm yesterday I continued to do the massage throughout my day, really working my fingers deep, and I felt relief almost instantly, but this morning I woke up and it feels 100x better, almost like it’s gone completely away, I still feel it very very slightly, I’ll have to take it easy and continue these exercises but that’s just gonna be healing, this worked!

I just tore my left pec at the top simply by stretching my chest, with my hands behind my back. I put ice on it but then the ice was making it more painful after 15 minutes. Then came across this video and I just tried to massage it as prescribed here and it seems to have subsided a bit. I did maybe 2 chest exercises a couple days ago so I wonder if something was brewing since then and this stretch was the final straw. Worst chest muscle pain I’ve ever felt, my anxiety didn’t help either. Thank you, you gained a new follower and I hope this heals quick

Hey guys this is freaking me out. Good freaking not bad! I’m 78 years old, very active, played tennis yesterday, served a hard first serve whilst still cold and really pulled my right pectoral near the upper arm. It hurt like mad, couldn’t even touch it, very painful. In the middle of the night in bed found your video and thought I can’t lose anything if I try it. Counter-intuively I massaged the spot ACROSS the muscle fibres and well honestly, I almost cried in the morning because from the evening before where I could hardly touch the arm as it was like a knife going in, I woke up and found I could rotate my arm, no pain only a soreness like when someone punches you on the arm. I’m freaking out because this shouldn’t be happening! I told friends who play tennis with me and they can’t believe it either. A tear or a strain like I had normally takes days even 2-4 weeks to settle down, applying Arnica cream x3 a day and using the elastic kineo/athlete tape. This is nothing short of miraculous, I simply cannot believe it! I will rest the arm until a week’s time and then carefully return to playing. Thank you guys does not get anywhere near to telling you how grateful I feel for your wisdom!

I'm 65 and for the past 20 years have been inactive in exercising my upper body, even though I run 25 miles a week. So, I decided to start doing pushups and after my ripped kids were teasing me, so I tried and found I could barely do one lol.. After a couple days I could do ten and now after a month later doing 75 a day, 25, morning, 25 noon and 25 evening and my old pecs are coming back! I have about ten years of martial arts behind me 30 years ago, we use to weight train, do knuckle and fingertip pushups all the time, so this past month I've been reliving my past doing knuckle, flat, wide pushups and the other day I must of torn something in my left pectoral and the next day I forced myself to get back at it and I hurt myself more lol, it hurt coughing, sleeping and nearly everything I did, so I talked with my Chiropractor friend and he said take a month off doing anymore pushups, which didn't make my newly pumped chest very happy lol! Well, a week later I feel fine and I want to get back to new regime and I don't want to wait another 3 weeks, am I being extremely stupid!?? If you read his long post, thanks!

Cheers for the advice and explanation! After 22 years of working out I got my 1st injury last Monday and I think I have straing or slightly torn my upper pec major during my 2nd to last set of benching. No swelling, no bruise and just some pain and discomfort. Fysio appointment could not be made earlier that Thursday but I read everywhere that quick action is required so with these exercises I can star already. No pushups etc. without the fysio's appoval but the stretching and massage will help.

Hi just strained my peck 6 days ago. Feeling some what better now. Just curious how are you doing and how long did it take you to heal?
@cornpit77
@cornpit77 2 жыл бұрын
@@mbyosoyyo25 Hi, sorry to hear you have suffered a similar injury as well. I am doing fine now, thanks. The recovery took at least 8 weeks. During that periode I did go to the gym twice a week as usual yet I incorporated the advice from my physiotherapist for chest exercises: slow repitions, low weights and slowly increasing the weights. And by slow he meant really slow. My max is 100kg for the last bench press set and I start warming up for that exercise using only the barbell. Then 10kg each side with I increase each set with 5kg each side. But now I had to do smaller steps as I was explained that the percentage of weight increase was quite big. So I started with 10kg each side and took steps of 2,5kg instead. Keep doinf that for 2 weeks before increasing the load. And I had to focus on the feeling in my injured peck: a very faint and mild pain is not bad. A bit more is too much. That is very subjective yet I knew what the physiotherapist meant as over the years I had more injuries which were not fitness related such as a major back surgery to avoid becoming fully paraplegic. To recover from that requires similar process in getting confidence in your body and recognizing signals of pain and seperating them into good, warning and bad signals. So basic thing is: keep moving the injured muscle and keep exercising it yet with much slower reps and slow increase of the weights. And stretch frequently like in this video, nornals stretch after 2 sers which I still do nowadays. For bench press specifically I advice you to check the Athlean-X video about that. Jeff Cavalier is a physio himself so he knows what he's talking about. Very useful stuff to improve your movement while working out.

@@cornpit77 could I ask if your initial pain too was very minimal? I think I did the same too. I had 10days off and did the foolish thing to pick up where I left off and injured it today. I'm hoping recurrence doesn't occur too. I'm still just 26 and that would suck. I just pulled my rhomboid couple weeks ago and hence the break
@cornpit77
@cornpit77 Жыл бұрын
@@eliyadevan5301 Yes, it was very minimal. First signs were nothing out of the ordinary. But the last push that set off things I could clearly feel a more deep pain. Just take your time and slowly build up your weight as explained above. Had no issues after the recovery anymore. Just train repsonsibly, check Athlean-X for good advice on proper setup and movement during common exercises. Or ask a gym instructor with a background in physiotherapy to go through your exercises. These guys know so much about training responsibly. Personally I don't listen to bro-science anymore. Did a session with such an instructor for starting deadlifts. Never dared to do deadlifts as I have had severy back surgery 15yrs ago but learned this year that deadlifts, if done responsibly and with good technique can actually prevent back injuries. Taking a few steps back for a couple of weeks or even some months doesn't hurt your long term abilto workout. Overdoing things too quickly after injuries can permanently put you out of the gym. Good luck and take responsible steps. 👍🏻

You guys nailed it! This exactly what I have. I was so pissed when this happened a second time. I would love a regime that tells me how to rehab the pec with weights. Same here. Reinjured my left pec minor by doing pushups without warmup, not even maxing out on the bench. Good thing the injury is much less substantial then the first time. Gonna focus on the form more. A common theme I've notice on both injuries is I was fatigued from having not enough sleep the night before, wasn't properly hydrated and didn't warmup enough which led to from breakdown - all these compounded factors led to the injury I believe. From now on am gonna focus on these things more and If I'm not feeling it right might just deload or skip the session altogether. Health and longevity is more important than gains at this point. Good luck with your rehab!

Do you recommend continuous pressure up and down on the pectoral during the massage or pressure in one direction only?

Much appreciated! I bench real heavy and two weeks ago felt both sides go. Hurts to bench but I still can. Obviously shouldn’t though until healed. Hopefully heals fast

This is perfect!!! I’ve been dealing with this pain for 6 months! It has improved over the last two months with general stretching, but it’s still a big problem. I am going to get started immediately!

How was it?

@@abu_alii did not help me. I went through several more months of physical therapy, stretching, exercises, oral medication, topical cream, MRI, then most recently a Cortizone injection. A little over a year with the pain. The MRI showed I had an inflamed shoulder ACL. Everything else looked fine. There’s a lot going on in the shoulder joint. It can be hard to diagnose. I thought it was a Peck. Physical therapist thought it was a bicep tendon. turned out to be the ACL. They all tie in at pretty much the same spot.

@@alihatem1349 after the first injection, it felt amazing. I started lifting weights again full blast and living life. I thought I was in the clear. But, the pain came back after about 2 months. I know what did it. I got a second injection and it felt amazing again. I’m taking it easy this time and it’s been over two months and still feeling great. I’m hoping I finally beat it. I’m working around it with weight training and it’s going well so far.

Great video, I think just what I needed, was not sure if I was having a subscapularis issue or of it waa pectoralis tendonitis. Just a question, should I continue doing these after it heals up and Im back to benching again?
