I'm running 6 Peltier tiles being liquid cooled using a 240mm pc radiator. After a few mins of use, the radiator can't keep up and the Peltier tiles lose effectiveness. Would this solve that problem? Wouldn't the coolant get warm like the water eventually? People pour a ton of money into their liquid cooled pc components. This would be a VERY easy, cheap solution.

I'm thinking about doing something similar to what you explained but I'm thinking of adding a small reservoir tank of water. Between the reservoir fighting to maintain ambient temps and the radiator, I'm hoping to eliminate that issue.
@damiann4734
@damiann4734 Жыл бұрын
Coolant is only used to increase boiling point of water and prevent rusting but it does not lower your temperature. The heat from radiator needs to be moved away to an environment you don't care about. Like an aircon, you move the heat outside of your house with the use of fans or leave the radiator on the outside. Better is to have a control unit, that switches current to on and off when the cold side reaches lower and upper bounds.
@realtruth2875

car coolant itself cant cool the hot side of peltier. you need radiator or heat exchanger to remove heat from hot fuild of coolant. thats how, car engine heat is removed through radiator and transfered to envoiment
@Raj-yy7xx

Maybe pipe the fluid into a closed bottle buried in the ground or lake or as you say, to a radiator with a fan to dissipate heat.
@stevemcqueen1904

Instead of coolant use mineral oil or paraffin oil which has a lower viscosity allowing for more heat to dissipate through convection.

How good cooling performance is comparing to fan based solutions?
@ryansmith2642
@ryansmith2642 9 ай бұрын
You may not care anymore, but a proper heat sink and fan is more effective at displacing the heat and will certainly achieve better results in THIS scenario. However, If this set up had a radiator for the coolant then that is a different story as it would most likely out perform the traditional heat sink set up in terms of power efficency/performance, but also would result in a higher energy consumption overall.

@@KillianTwew spot on. You can also get high grade thermal paste used for high end PC CPU's which will help with cooling the hot side of the peltier modules. Perhaps use a small loop consisting of a 240mm radiator and a reservoir from PC watercooling components to aid the cooling of the hot side :)

I read for longer life you should cycle them on and off every 1 minute. He is ruining them on 20 Amps the maximum current for 4 is 12V 75 Amps or 15V 60 Amps So he is basically running them at 26.7% maximum capacity . it is recommended to run them at 75% or 85% capacity , I cant remember so stick with the lowest until you come across that information. But the higher the wattage the hotter the hot side becomes. Manufacturers claim they will last anywhere between 2 to 5 years but I gather 5 is the max in best case scenario .

However, it hasn't even been 1 day, at around 18.30 WIB when I checked, there was already a leak in the hot temperature flow or the hot temperature exhaust radiator water... I ask for your help with information on what I need to do to continue the experiment. Kiki From Indonesia.
@THEKEPLERSTORE
@THEKEPLERSTORE 10 ай бұрын
First, you need to determine where the leak is coming from. You should check the areas where you have connected the pipes; you may need to use pipe clips there. If this is not the issue, then you will need to add 2 liters of water with the coolant. When the quantity of water and coolant exceeds 2 liters, this problem should not occur.
