If you're looking to build an effortless swing it all starts with the grip and setup. This tip explains exactly what I feel in my grip and setup as I get ready to hit the ball. This is vital if you want to develop a powerful, effortless, pain-free golf swing.
So many people I teach are all locked up and gripping really tight as the setup to the ball. If this is you there is no way you will turn your arms off as you hit the ball and use your body. So it all starts here with the setup.
Make sure this tip is on your mind the next time you practice. Check your grip pressure and arms as you get ready. Yes, this will feel different and will take a while to get used to but it will be well worth it because you will now have a chance to use your body not your arms to hit the ball.
If you would like some free samples of my book and video series that takes you step-by-step through how to build a powerful, effortless, pain-free golf swing then please go here:

For anyone who is doubting, I went from hitting 220-230 total distance trying to hit as hard as I can then changed my swing to the effortless swing, distance went up to 270-280 total distance and I have a handful of times hit over 300 total distance! This swing works wonders! Thanks Paul!

Paul, I hope you are still reading these comments. I took lessons that eliminated my slice, but did noting for distance. After watching your video I realized the longest balls I ever hit were effortless. Feeling the centrifugal force of the club head and completing the rotation of my shoulders really allowed me to extend my arms. Long story short, my distance improved by 20 yards. The next time I'm in Vegas expect a visit.

After coming across your video yesterday I went to the range and had the best session for a long time. Everything seemed to just fall into place. When I over drew one I noticed I felt tension in my arms. Thankyou very much Paul, great video.

Thanks Paul, I've been watching your videos for a while now and they are superb, really starting to help me strike the ball better. The only issue I've personally found is that using your method I'm no longer able to "guide" the club and compensate for my swing flaws, consequently I'm spraying the ball around a bit but a lesson with a pro has shown me where I'm going wrong. Your "one piece takeaway" video is also helping. Keep up the good work and thanks again.

I have used Paul's tips to swing very loose and am hitting the ball consistently farther and straighter with every club. It has taken me 3 or 4 trips to the range to trust this. At first it feels like you are going to hit the ball half as far as you normally would. Yesterday was the first day that I 100% trusted this throughout the round and I averaged 272 yards with my driver vs. 254 yards prior to yesterday. I also hit 11 out of 13 fairways. The course was wet and the fairways were soft too so I was not really getting much run out. I hit a 7 iron, in the air 181 yards, that is a really solid hit for me. I cannot recommend Paul Wilson and his body swing more - try it. It works.

Nice stuff! Hit driver today with the thought my arms were loose, wet noodles (to offset the usual tightness) going along for the ride. Resulted in straight drives including consistent center face contact (had recently been in a pattern of heel shots adding to out-to-in path fades/slices). Started out trying to hit only 120 yrds to get comfortable as I initially felt fully out of control, increased to 200 yrds with about 60-70% effort. Results validate your message. Will keep this up.Thanks a million!

Very good. My average student age it at least 60 if not older. Just keep turning the arms off and power it with your legs and hips. Oh yeah, you don't need to hit any balls doing my technique. You just have to do daily practice swings. 25 per day for a month or two until you get it. Anyone can do it.

Paul I noticed in this video when you briefly showed your grip it was an overlap? If so, it makes sense because there certainly is less tension with this grip. I’ve been using this grip for about ten years. It really helps with grip pressure. Excellent videos by the way.

I have an idea. When you setup, purposefully tighten up. Grip the club very hard and feel the tension in your arms and wrists. Know what that feels like and then simply let everything relax. Sometimes you need to do something the opposite way so that you can then feel the optimal way.

I watched all your Videos today. Great advice. I like it how you go one step further and explaining what you actually mean by swinging loose. I’ve always been told to swing loose, but you explain what actually swinging loose means. Especially the video when you describe two out of 10 for your wrists and zero out of 10 for your arms, and then explain each step And what it feels like in the backswing. I used to never believe that loose actually meant farther till you showed the swing speed radar comparison. Amazing.Great work. Going to test it out today.

With loose relaxed arms I am picking up 10 yards of carry. It's absurd but so true.... I feel like I am swinging 50% and the ball absolutely rifles off of the club. Of course I hit the ball poor from time to time, sometimes more than others, but overall it's so much better. I love how the ball checks up on the green with the loose arms. With tight arms, even if you manage to connect with it, the ball doesn't spin and zonks off the back of the green.

Hi Paul! I have been practicing your "bodyswing" for a few weeks now (with your program from the website). I love the swing and feeling of powerless arms (or at least less powerful than before... haha). I have gained some distance, some really better contacts but now I do not send the ball really at target and with no real pattern. So I a feeling a loss of control. Some pull and pull-draws, some small pushes or slices... Quite uncomfortable... Is it normal and just need to go on and practice ? (By the way, when doing effortless swings horizontally, I do feel a strange extension in the left elbow - not painful but almost.... - Normal ?) Thanks for sharing here your vision and passion !

I have a swingspeed of 95-105 mph with hip rotation and arms, however i know i don't hit the middle of club face every time, I have a slow take away with this method I hit ok 220-260 yard shots depending. I want to know if this method will be even better for me, Ive tried at the range a little bit but it feels very weird.

I finally gave this a try last night with the driver - swing with loose arms and wrist. It was kinda shocking to swing "lazily" or loose and see the ball fly and fly straight. But still, this will take time to get used to. Naturally, I have tense tight shoulders (carry stress on my shoulders I guess) and mentally I want to smash the ball instead of swing through it. Right timing with this video, thanks!!

should we be swinging down at the ball or swinging to the target? I have early extension really bad
@paulwilsongolf
@paulwilsongolf 6 жыл бұрын
In no way should you be trying to hit the ball. Hitting is arms. I want no arms. I am assuming early extension of the club not body. This would be hitting. Lag means something is trailing behind something else. If you are releasing it early you are moving the club before the body. You have it backwards (most do). So turn off the arms. They are not going to stay up there forever. If you start the body the arms will follow.

@paulwilsongolf Жыл бұрын
I would be doing 3 practice swings 1 ball. You need the new to old ratio 3:1. Want it even faster do 5:1. If you hit 3 balls in a row you do 9 practice swings. So stick to that and you will make the changes. Get it then you can hit more balls if you want. I would also be doing daily practice swings at home. This is the fastest way to get it. To many people work on it once a week. This is not enough. Watch: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gtuCacZkrtjSdpc.html

Question - when setting up, where should your weight be - on your heels or ball of the feet? I apologize if you already covered this in the video. I could have missed it. Thank you.

Very welcome. You will get it back in no time if you keep it simple and try to get the arms and any hitting out of the swing. You can do it. I like the weight on the laces. So middle of feet. Not heels or balls of feet.

Hi Paul, I understand with this tightening issue. I feel like I need to keep my arms connected, certainly causing tension as well. But then without arms connected, I have not a better ball contact. Any suggestion? Do I really need this connection wıth my arms? Thanks
@paulwilsongolf
@paulwilsongolf 6 ай бұрын
You need to be connected for sure. I am not even thinking about it. If you lose connection your arms will be flopping all over the the place. So feel a little pressure under both armpits at set up. Use your coil to take the club back not your arms. Watch this: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mJmFftJ60LuuZJs.html You are not tightening the arms to be connected. They are in synch with your body not moving independently from your body.

What would be the chances of you creating a video where we see you hitting more? Both in regular and slow mo speeds. Hitting irons and drivers? You're explanations are fantastic, but seeing you 'swing your explanations' would be awesome.

I am struggling to hit my driver. I mean every shot is a shank, or goes 50 yards on the ground. I have had good shots, I usually get 2-3 good drives a round, but that’s it. I’ve been hitting my irons decent, but can not hit my driver. It is very frustrating, and hard to stay motivated.

Anytime you lose it you need to go back to the fundamentals. You can shank a driver but I get the point. So this is happening with driver. This is because you are trying to kill it which is locking your wrists. If the ball is not airborne you are taking the loft of the club. So you need to start with the grip. I get the feeling you are changing your grip as you take the club back into a strong position. Once the grip is on it is on. Don't change it: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/irx-jMSGqs2Vkac.html Then do this drill to loosen your wrists: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jtFnp5yqramzXX0.html Then use your legs and hips not your arms to hit the ball: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ort_f7CdxODRlZ8.html

Paul Wilson Golf I went to the range and it was significantly better. I had a slice on half my shots, but I got 95% off the tee at least. I could tell the slice would happen, when I tried hitting it harder instead of staying relaxed. I’m a firm believer in your swing tips. It works for me. But, I still have a lot to practice.
