The Conlok conduit system is faster to install than the traditional steel conduit system. Does this speed and ease of installation sacrifice performance compared to threaded conduit systems.
We explore the common questions raised in our previous Conlok installation videos.
Conlok is a Demon Cato Brand - part of the Metpro group.

Is that a metal clad wall the conduit is fixed to guys? Ask only as surely that would affect the continuity test you carried out

My thoughts exactly, would like to see it laid on the floor and compared to a traditional system

I like the idea of con lock but the grumpy old spark in me can’t help preferring to do the hard work like threading and using a bending vice. But who am I to argue i’am just a humble spark who’s opinion means nothing. Fantastic video Gaz as always 👍👍👍❤️

Used conlok on alot of installations over the past 5 years and it is fantastic and definitely cuts install time down but I'm still not sure that I'd use it outside and seal it with CT1. Outside I'd still use threaded and a bit of bosswhite on the last few threads for good measure.

kewl Tip for the whole 'making life easier for electricians' thing: a 165mm Evolution Multi-Material blade from Screwfix installed in a cordless circular saw. Used with a speed square to keep the cuts square, this munches it's way through conduit, unistrut, tray, basket, whatever you put in front of it. No more messing about with a hacksaw or going overboard setting up a full on chop saw station. you're welcome 😁

And in the next video, we see Gary with two black eyes. Joking aside does this comply with the same product standards as a threaded conduit system?

Looks good, will have to give it a try, really like the rapid-fire sadles, far too many small screw dropped when up ladders in the past. informative video 👍

I have used conlok for years now on my own jobs just for ease and speed. The only time the stock and die set comes out now is when the client or company I'm subbying to specifically asks for it. In my eyes it's a thing of the past just like micc.

How do you think this would work in an industrial process plant? Would it hold together OK? I work in Australia but it's been that long since I used Conlok in the UK I can't remember what it's like. I see so much time and conduit waste from mistakes on bends and can't help think there's an easier way. The quickness of disassembly could be advantageous in some situations where plant maintenance requires them to be moved out the way.

I think I'd be interested in a lab based experiment of how both systems perform after a period of constant exposure to salt spray - it may be an unfounded concern but if that one grub screw were to fail 5/10/15 years down the line from corrosion how would the earth continuity perform?

If you had this much faith in the continuity why did you wire it with CPC?

You always stick an earth lead in as it's a stander thing to do and is required by the regs. Years ago people did used to use the conduit as the earth and the had a tester that put a big pulse through it to see if it was a good connection. A few old sparks said that when it was a loose connection, it made an aweful mess. Especially if it was berried in the ceiling and it blew it all to bit's 😂

@@TheManLab7 what reg? as far as I'm aware it's still allowed as the CPC so I'll be interested to be educated, I would personally run earth's for the sake of an extra wire but if it's getting to the point of having to much in one run there would definitely be a benefit to being able to use it as cpc
