Great for guys like me who sometimes need to gig electric but still want the stage presence. Did their used to be a 20” ride or have I imagined that? haha, keep up the good work 🤙🏻

What's it like using live? Can you do 4 quarter inch to xlr cables into the sound board? Also is there much difference in the USB - C vs a USB - B that some other kits have? I plan to use this for live use at my church playing straight from the module, and then I plan to use this via usb/ Steven slate drums for recording at home... At the moment I'm torn between this and a Roland VAD307.

Hi Jason, This kit uses USB 2.0 (High Speed) to micro USB to connect. Yes, you can go in 4 CH TRS 1/4" top the house. by USB you get 8 separated USB Audio individual outputs and 16 USB Midi outs simultaneously for combining both internal sounds and VST's . It's a great kit for both live and recording.

How loud are these drums in an apartment or flat situation? Does the kick drum ring out like a real small kick?
@ArtesiaProNorthAmerica
@ArtesiaProNorthAmerica Жыл бұрын
Nowhere near as loud, because what's setting of the resonant head is just a beater hitting foam behind a mesh head, so it doesn't create much sympathetic resonance. It can be treated just like an acoustic resonant head though and you can muffle it to taste. It's there for the perceived sub it sends back to the foot when you bury the beater.

Loudest parts are the cymbals - it can literally sound like someone constantly pounding thin yet dull-ish wood blocks lol - drums are not too loud even if you bash them, but put a towel over the front kick head you should be alright

Hello evypun, There are no brush sounds but at 12:35 i demo the bop kit, that feastures a wide open 60's Gretsch maple kick that has head flex in the louder dynamics and feels incredibly real. The EFNOTE 5 sizes are 16" kick, 12" snare, 10" rack, 12" floor, 18" ride, 16" cras, 14 HH and 8" splash.

Is there any adjustability on the riser for the 5 and the mini? I've watched a ton of videos for both kits and it seems like the bass drums really like to wobble. I also noticed, when looking overhead, the bass drum pedal is set much further back than normal due to the riser. I'm very strongly considering getting a 5 or a mini but this stood out to me and I don't have anywhere to play one in person.

Thanks for the question, Steven. on the EFD5, there aren't any 808, 909 of Linn Drum type sounds, as the approach on this kit is acoustic realism. The EFD3 and EFD3-X both have those sounds added the acoustic kits. Here's an example of it. Playing example at 5:40 kzfaq.info/get/bejne/m66KiJehm9XNkaM.html

Can you layer tambourine, hand claps and snaps onto the snare?
@ArtesiaProNorthAmerica
@ArtesiaProNorthAmerica 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Erik, you can add 3 sounds to the snare zones and although there are tambourines in the 5, there are no snaps. It has claves, cowbells, woodblocks and tambourines and 9 different attack sounds that can be layered, as far as "percussion". The 3/3X have same percussion plus wind chimes up/down, and e-percussion, 808 style claps, snares kicks and HH's.

How come the EFNOTE 3 kit is 1999 dollars in US and 1999 euro in europe while the EFNOTE 5 is 2499 dollars in US and 2999 in europe? Something wrong with pricing? At 2499 euro it would make total sense but at 2999 it is awfully close to the vad 503 and at par with the 27kv that have the digital snare + ride.

@7:18 "If you play a machine-y kind or roll, it'll have that kind of dynamic..." What that's basically telling us is that it doesn't have a lot of round-robin samples, so when you play a dynamic level of 106 repetitively, you get the same sound each time. Other modules like the Mimic (much more expensive though) or VSTis have a higher level of complexity such that, when you hit level 106 repetitively, it plays back subtle sonic differences with each successive hit to provide a more acoustic sound that's "all in there." Sorry, just being real. Having said that, the EFnote kits offer a lot of value for the $ and offer great features. That hi hat seems interesting in that it has multiple optical sensors, right? I'm curious how that all works and what the benefit there is to that configuration.
@482jpsquared
@482jpsquared 3 жыл бұрын
@@ArtesiaProNorthAmerica Michael, thanks for your reply. I was a little harsh. You're right. Your comment was about the dynamic range, whereas I was commenting about the tonality variation and complexity. Honestly, the EFnote is a killer value at $2,500. A Mimic Pro module itself is close to $2,000 alone. You guys have a fantastic product there. I'm really intrigued by the hi hat in particular. It seems to play extremely well with its three optical sensors. Maybe you should do a feature video on the hi hat and cymbals. I'd really like to see how the cymbals play compared to ATV and Roland, particularly the strike angle and strike force needed to play the edge sound. Keep up the great work, EFnote!

The founders are all ex-ATV employees. The kit has the same quality, design, and durability as ATV's hardware. I'd say the module is similarly built, but with more modern and organic sounds. Seems, unlike with most drum modules, they took the time to record ACTUAL great-sounding kits. Dry, crisp, vintage sounding drums and cymbals, not some tingy brilliant bullshit cymbals and cheap sounding snares. One of their kits samples meinl sand hi hats, which are some of the best sounding out there.

@@mattdrewdrums yup, that's a quite common issue with these cymbals, just read vdrums forum or atv facebook user group.
