[4K] Fata Morgana Ride-through at Efteling Theme Park in the Netherlands. This ride kind of remind us of Pirates of the Caribbean ride that you will find at several Disney Parks around the ride.
Efteling is a beautiful fantasy-themed amusement park located in Kaatsheuvel, Netherlands.
For more information on Efteling Theme Park & Tickets please visit their official website at www.efteling.com/en

This dark ride is inspired by A Thousand and One Nights, Sheherazade. Mechanically it is basically one giant musicbox, where everything is finely tuned to move at the exact time. Pretty amazing work in the 80's.

A Thousand and One Nights, Sheherazade, is Inspired by THIS ride, like most of Disneys rides. The Efteling is at the foundation of Disneyworld, and Disneyworld would have looked a whole lot different, if it would have existed at all, without the Efteling.

The only things you can not experience viewing a video of this ride are the various scents in the rooms... you will smell the jungle, and the city, and the dungeon, and the feast hall.

Scent is a very underrated but important part of an experience. It adds so much character and makes it much more memorable. Peope tent to remember scents very specifically and link it to something (see what happens if I talk about the scent present in Pirates of the Caribbean, almost all know what I mean XD)

Efteling doesn't use explicit storytelling in their darkrides: 'use your imagination'. It is another culture than Disney. In this case; you visit Fata Morgana, 'the forbidden city' as an uninvited guest, now apparently popping up in the middle of the jungle. In the end you wonder: was it real, did I escape, am I dead, or was it just a Fata Morgana? Was the wizard at my side? (Cause in the end he sends you to the light shooting 'snakespider'). It is al about creating an ambiance, taking inspiration from Anton Pieck's drawnings about 1001 Arabian Nights (and also the first Efteling designer).

Very cool looking dark ride! I only noticed two animatronics in disrepair [that happens even at Disney] - but on a ride with this many, it's hardly a critique. I see many comments about the storyline... But there is not one really. You are just in a city, not welcome. Most Efteling darkrides make it so you can make up a story yourself. Because you are the protagonist. Now, this is based on the Fairytales of 1001 Night, and of course there are stories in there, like Aladdin. This is also not based on Pirates of the Caribbean, it’s ride system is based on that. But that’s all.

So something about the name. Fata Morgana describes a phenomenon at sea that’s essentially a mirage on the water. So I see the ending as less of a “not happy ending” and more like the wizard leads you out of the illusion either he or the djinn has cast and you realize you’ve been in the jungle the whole time. But I can’t speak Dutch so I can only guess the actual storyline

I love Pirates of the Caribbean but can people please stop calling every dark boat ride a Pirates knock-off, cause this is really nothing like pirates. Different ride system, story, scenes, theme, and this technically doesn't even use animatronics.

Hunterbythesea that wont work, its a tow boat ride aka with a rope in the water that moves and the boats are attached to it. The ride is really awesome, it doesn’t need them(no way the would be able to add them), but you should come to the efteling, its a great park :))

@bramjeurissen5946

This ride is an Arabian version of Pirates of the Caribbean. The only difference between this ride, & POTC is that there are no drops on this ride. That poor drowning prisoner holding onto his prison bars for dear life, is more disturbing, than one of the husbands tied to a chair, as the pirates bobbed the man up & down into the well in POTC. That snake hanging above the tree, as the boat floated under that snake, made me say, “Don’t go on me!”! I hate snakes, because they’re scary AF! When the boat sailed underneath the giant’s legs when he squared down, am I the only one, who said, “Don’t make a #1 & #2 on me!”! Lol!
