Time isn't everything; your score must've not been high enough. Did you die? You can only get S Rank if you make it through without dying.

To get an s rank you have to make through Without Dying, Go A Little Fast To Keep Track On Time, And Try To Destroy Enemies And Get Rings And All that to Get A Good Score.
