My mom had a shaker jar of nutmeg, too. But I saw someone on TV use a whole nutmeg and grate it on a microplane. I just cracked with a hammer 2 or 3 whole nutmegs and put them in my coffee grinder. It did a great job of grinding it to a fine powder. The fragrance of fresh ground nutmeg is unlike anything you buy ground in a store. I put it in a very small container with a tight lid and little air space. That seems to keep it fresh longer. When I open it to use nutmeg, it smells like I just ground it. No way would I go back to buying the powdered stuff.

"Liquor, if you like. But I prefer men." That one took me a second, and then had me belly-laughing like Saint Nick.

Dylan, I woke up this morning, popped on YT, watched this video and then went to work. Couldn’t get the pie out of my head. I work at a grocery store so after work I got the ingredients and made it tonight. HOLLLYYYYY COWWWWW! THIS IS A DIVINE PIE. I used Cool Whip and it was absolutely lovely. I will note that this recipe does in fact work fine with the smaller box of instant pudding (I may or may not have grabbed the smaller box at the store). The final result was so smooth and comforting. I think I prefer to consume egg nog this way from now on. Because it's in a pie form, I naturally slow down to consume it and can enjoy it better. I drink normal egg nog way too fast so this better for me. Thanks for sharing this! I will be adding this to the Christmas dinner menu this year ❤❤❤

It is wonderful to read that you had this happy experience, but having grown up with CoolWhip® and later having true whipped cream, I had a bit of cringe that you did that substitution. 😝

This gentleman is one of my 11 year old sons favorite people to watch. I got him his cookbook for Christmas and I highly recommend it. It has amazing recipes. My son is going to be so happy to get it and use it..... although I can't say I'm looking forward to the coming mess in the kitchen 😂😂

Yeah but so worth the memories. 😉

Kitchen messes can be easily cleaned, quite often too many mothers refuse to allow their budding adolescents access and use of THEIR kitchen, because mommy doesn't teach them to clean, or is it mommy has a service to do HER cleaning? Either way, if you repress creativity, you'll foster repression, not creativity. What goes around, comes around. Best wishes.

Absolutely. Put a little bit of it in different containers and use dye, make a nice swirl of xmas colors on top to dress it for your family party, and it'd be even more of a hit because then your aunt sandy can't complain that it doesnt look festive enough 😂
