The saddest part about Risk of Rains lore is that Mithrix would never get closure. He spent a very long time locked up on the moon, angry for what his brother had done. He spend so long trying to reach him, but he would never know that his brother was dead all along

i believe Mithrix was Semi-aware/had his suspicions of Providence having died, but either way, it is indeed quite sad.

@SmenDeSmen my main reason for believing he didn't know was that one of his death lines is "brother, this plane grows dark, where are you?" Which implies that he is unaware of his brother's location, or lack there of

Yeah it becomes more tragic if you truly demolish him, where he can't do anything to you. He calls out to his brother for help, in my case he called for him three times. A fleeting plea.. too bad I fucked up and head stomped into the lifts that take you up to him.. soft locked In there and got locked away with the planet

No matter how much Mithrix hates Providence, i still think deep down that he could have forgiven him, judging by how he calls out for Providence to help him when he dies.

Holy shit, this is really good. The faded Once In A Lullaby in the latter half, the way the camera pans down through the bridge of the Contact Light to reveal Providence's corpse, the voice, the imagery as a whole... And the part that hurts the most is seeing that frame of Mithrix chiseling a statue of his brother.

There is one! But the creators have yet to update it, sadly. Its called TarluxMithrix, and once it's updated, I already have all the lines re-recorded with my takes!

Perhaps Providence was defeated because he lacked the unbound power of cold, precise design. Perhaps Mithrix was defeated because he was driven mad (and weakened) from a lack of soul & love after being alone for so long. Ironically, in their time of need, both brothers needed the other.

The story of Mythrix and Providence is honestly so amazing for being hidden behind item descriptions. I love how there's a story to piece together. I read the one about how Mythrix got trapped as my last one, and seeing him being so happy because he could finally free his brother and him, while Providence is sad because he knows what's really going to happen, it's just *immaculate*

Saw this comic on reddit, didn't think someone would voice act it, so well too. I like how you made Mithrix sound more sad than angry,adds some more tragedy to their relationship,when two could perhaps live together happily,if one wasn't so selfish.

And "who" is selfish is still out to debate, if you ask me. Mithrix had idea, design, creativity, he was a higher being along with his brother, and didn't really care about humans. But Providence loved those "ants", "feeble pathetic creatures" so much, he valued them over his brother life. Selfish desire, too.

@@kovacaizek4691 neither are too selfish province wanted to save as many living things as he could and mythrix wanted to leave petricor 5 behind and continue on to new worlds they both wanted different things and wanted the other there in there dreams however when it came down to it province locked his brother on the moon and went along with what he wanted to do it's a sad story because of they just stuck together and worked something out the moon would still be there today and fbe void weaver woundt be such a huge threat

Probably not. While his motives may not be totally pure, Providence ultimately acted out of compassion and charity.

Nothing hits harder than hearing Chris's music blaring before contemplating why you had to put down someone named "Bulwark of the Weak." "..why do I feel like I made a terrible mistake?" And for part of that mistake to come full circle when you, as the player in a future taking place after RoR1 have to kill the other sibling.

An unknown entity of similar power to Mithrix and Providence, who, unlike Mithrix and Providence, could freely travel through space. I personally theorize it to be N'kuhana, but that's completely unconfirmed. Sorry that there isn't much more lore to her than that, despite being mentioned by Mithrix fairly frequently in the item logs.
