In this video I demo the brand spanking new Ripped Speaker fuzz pedal.
According to EHX this pedal is meant to emulate the first known distortion and fuzz effects - the ripped speaker. In my opinion it sounds a lot more like broken control board, but I enjoy that greatly.
Things I enjoyed about this pedal include EHX's known durable construction with a sturdy footswitch and casing. I like the variability of tone you can achieve all through a proto-rock fuzz lense. It sounds dirty, and uncontrollable in a really unique and vintage way.
The only real con I have is the tilt-shift EQ. On guitar I'm sure that cutting low end while boosting highs isn't a problem, but I would love to have active high end boost while still maintaining lows if I am running bass through this pedal.
overall I give this pedal a 7/10. Love the dirty tonal character, and the unique inspiration behind the legendary origins of fuzz tones.
