Well folks, this is going to be another looong video, but considering I had over 9 hours of video clips to go through, I thought I did pretty good to get it down to just under 27 minutes. For those who are interested in the editing part, I spent almost 5 hours editing this one. Of course, when you are talking about a bee hive that is every bit of 8 feet long, it's got to bee a long video.
I could not have done the job without the assistance from a brand new bee keeper, Robert, who was with me the entire time assisting in whatever way he could. The homeowners also took part in the removal by witnessing the entire process as well as springing for lunch and drinks throughout the day. All in all, it was a GREAT day of bee wrangling, and I was blessed to bring back to the abbey some fantastic bees. I look forward to the spring when I split these girls and have their drones flying with the abbey drones blending their genetics with ours.
No sense in getting into the specifics of the video when there's already a lot to see, so let's get the show on the road. Thanks for watching. God's peace to all. Mr. Ed

The bees are very gentle and continue to be, and I just harvested 4 gallons of honey from these bees last week. I post these videos, to show just how important bees are to our very survival, and why we should not just kill them out of ignorance. I have been rescuing bees from being needlessly destroyed for over 8 years now, and hope to continue to do so for many more years to come. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my bee wrangling/ bee rescues adventures and let me know what you think of them. Jeff Horchoff Bees oh, definitely. I used to be scared of stinging insects as a kid, and I’m still afraid of wasps, but bees? They’re essentially just simple farming folk who leave you be if you show the same courtesy. Just last year, there was a huge swarm in my backyard clustering on a tree pretty low to the ground - you coulda bumped your head on it. I got pretty close to them while mowing the lawn and didn’t even notice them until I got fairly close. Not one sting. My dad called over one of his beekeeper friends to pick up the swarm, but sadly he didn’t have a free box ready to house them, and the next day, they were all gone. Hope they found a good home somewhere, we need more of em. I’ll definitely be giving your channel some more views, it’s good content.

Many honey bees are stingless, and as a collective are more intelligent than most people give them credit for. Bees are so cool, they're like a collective organism, each hive a single being with thousands to even millions of tendrils

My aunt was given gallons and gallons of crystalized honey once and it was impossible to eat it all so I used to feed it to the wild bees every morning. I've never seen so many bees before in my life. They`d be waiting on me every day. They`re very smart insects. They recognized that it was me feeding them and would even land all over me while I was trying to spread the honey crystals out on boards for them to eat. One morning I heard a roar from the screened in back porch and a huge swarm had came and was in a pine tree about 20 feet from where I fed them. Fascinating creatures.

@@JeffHorchoff Amen. I've been recently absolutely fascinated by bees, and sometimes just seeing them go from flower to flower collecting around the town is a beautiful perspective on the miracle of life. I don't think I'd ever beekeep myself, because I don't like honey like that, even though I could sell it at the farmers market. However, I absolutely abhor the killing of bees or anyone who has a stigma against them, especially when they're docile and peaceful.

When I see a hornets nest, chills go down my back. When I see a bee hive, my heart races with excitement. For me the reason is because wasp and hornet stings are way worse than a bee sting, and a wasp and hornet sting without dying and bite. Bottom line, I hate wasps and hornets, but love the honey bee. Plus, only the honey bee makes honey. I post these videos, to show just how important bees are to our very survival, and why we should not just kill them out of ignorance. Bees never cease to amaze with their diligence and wondrous natural engineering, with built-in temperature regulation and even defense systems. Truly one of God's most wondrous and amazing creatures! To think this ENTIRE HIVE comes from one queen! Just how long did it take them to get this hive to such a massive size, I wonder?
@JeffHorchoff

Because this hive was probably 2 years old, not all the bees came from the same queen, she probably had been replaced over that time which is a very normal happening. It is not out of "ignorance" that bees need to be killed, but out of sound commonsense to protect the healthy ones that we can help to be more productive... You would not take wild animals and put them with prized stock, without expecting problems, and wild bees are no different.
