I visited here in 2022 when I visited NYC and DC. Interesting bus ride as the area is rough as but once you go through the gates to the Arboretum it’s like paradise. Such a massive collection of amazing trees

There's something surreal about seeing this museum through Bjorn's eyes (camera) as he prepares to leave the US. Also very cool how Little Lonely Doug was the first plants to arrive at Eisei-En, and now one of the last to leave. Full Circle Journey for both Bjorn and the garden. So sad to see him leaving but super exciting to see him on his new adventure!

Amazing tree. Incredible gift. Never been so anxious to go back to DC. Can’t say I love the placement with the writing behind Doug. I’m sure he won’t be there forever.

Great to see your tree in the collection. A few years back I was able to see our family friends tree and my uncle’s tree at the museum. Ironically, they were displayed right next to each other.

Interesting story about the bald cypress I saw on display. I think it was donated by Vaughn Banting who started bonsai at age 6 at his family’s nursery in New Orleans. Sadly the Vietnam war interrupted his life and later he developed brain cancer most likely due to agent orange. I remember a story of John Naka visiting Vaughn in New Orleans and as they sat in his back yard Vaughn commented on the noise the cicadas were making and mr naka said “aren’t they beautiful “. To me the Japanese are an interesting people, hence my Japanese wife. I hope to someday visit your nursery in Kyoto. If your ever in Okinawa visit Gold hall, you’ll be amazed at the bonsai there. Cheers.
