Dope interview. Had both albums. Think I might like That's Them better. "Collaboration of Mics" is one of Lord Finesse's illest beats - and maybe Lord Jamar's best performances.

Cypha and Rosenberg need to keep this up. They have the comfort and chemistry of vets. Because they are. And they wear it well. Something so much more relaxing about this Vs other pods that seem super aggressive for no good reason

@ 43:11 I used to work with the brother El is referring to who passed from 9th Creation. Henry Anadon. We worked together in Stockton, CA, and I knew he played an instrument, so I asked him about it one day. He said he was in a group called 9th Creation. I told him, "GTFOH! Bubble Gum!?!" He was shocked and said yeah and asked how I knew about them and the song. I told him I was deep into hip hop and knew about groups sampling them. He knew about the Artifacts and liked the way they did it. I can't recall the other groups he knew about.. He asked me about others, so I put him up on game like El was doing with the brother. Said he'd give me a percentage of what he got, but it was his original material, so I wasn't tripping.. This was around 04' I believe. Oh, he was familiar with Chubb Rock sampling too. I put him up on PUTS, Madlib, and I can't remember the others. He had a full time job, so obviously their music wasn't paying the bills. Plus he had some health issues at the time.

Obviously, I'm glad the culture is being properly kept alive anywhere. But I am SO jealous of Europe and all the dope shows they get. But, I certainly can't blame be artists. I have seen so many examples of places overseas where they aren't just rap fans; they really represent every aspect of the culture of hip hop to the absolute fullest.

That's something I've been thinking about for a while. I'm from The Canary Islands, Spain. I'm 31 now and I've been in love with hip hop ever since I was a little kid. I think that embracing a culture which was born far away gives you more appreciation for it. You feel it needs to be well protected and conserved. I was in Paris in February (2023). The Hip Hop Heroes festival was held at Bataclan. Check it out, there are some videos on KZfaq. It was a three-day festival. Slum Village, Psycho Les of The Beatnuts, Billy Danze of M.O.P., EPMD, Keith Murray, Havoc & Big Noyd, Kool G Rap, Masta Ace, CL Smooth, Large Professor, AZ & DJ Statik. All hosted by Jeru The Damaja. Man, it was something beautiful. Lots of people of all ages. Evrybody enjoying and representing the real hip hop. I felt like they wouldn't get the same kind of love/support it had been held in the USA. I would have loved to have El & Tame there. I would have been so hyped for their show. Rhyme in Paradise, Tame. One Love & Hip Hop

Ok, that was amazing - you gotta have him back for a part 2 - there's gotta be more stories to tell. I can't believe you two never heard that Nas/AZ 'Serious' joint - that's a Nas mixtape staple.... The new studio looks nice - but you better go check the office though after MC EL leaves and make sure he didn't snatch the paper out of your fax machine...

Great interview but can y’all force The Notorious Billy June to compile a Spotify playlist with all of the songs you mention on all of the episodes because it’s taking me forever to get through an episode since I’m constantly starting and stopping it while I go search for the sneaky big t*ts to make my own playlist. Thanks guys.
@jimr9499
@jimr9499 Жыл бұрын
That's a great idea. However, I have two small changes that I would make, if it were me. 1.) Before they make a playlist anywhere like that, Billy June should just list all the tracks and time codes in the description of the video so no matter what streaming service one uses they can just make their own playlist of them. 2.) I, personally, am chasing after Carhartt girls as opposed to sneaky big tits'. But, hey, to each his own.
@TupacShakurTheDonMakaveli
@TupacShakurTheDonMakaveli Жыл бұрын
@@jimr9499 that’s a great idea, I was just thinking of myself because I only use Spotify but I agree with your amendment. As for Carhartt girls, I personally search high and low for Carhartt girls WITH sneaky big tits or as Cypha once referred to them, “Chimichangas,” word to Laura Stylez.

For sure bro, R.I.P. to them both. I'm just glad that, I seen an interview not too long ago (which for sure was recorded before both of their deaths) with Redman where death somehow came up. I can't tell you _exactly_ what he said, word for word, verbatim. But the general gist of it was how he has learned to be somewhat glad for people who pass in that they no longer have to suffer in the real world, they will be reunited with all of their family and friends that passed on before they did (if they/you are religious that is), and stuff like that. So, obviously, no one is _happy_ when a loved one dies. He, however, seems to be as not-depressed by such things as one can possibly be. And so, I say allllllll that to say this: I am thankful for, at the very least and absolute bottom of the barrel, bear minimum, the fact that Redman has such a healthy mind state to help him deal with the loss of both family and a friend in such quick succession. Obviously, I don't know him personally. But based solely upon hearing him say that I imagine that he is doing as well, emotionally, as one can possibly be doing after such a tragedy. R.I.P. to Tame One and Hurricane G who, hopefully, continues to pack the gat (son) in heaven.

@@Senseifromnj If I can criticize I can compliment. Salute to you brothas for even having the courage to pursue your dreams. I'm real big on 90's Hip Hop especially east coast. I can spin the first album all day. I gave the second album a listen and it seemed a lot more "freestyle-y" to me. I just didn't like it as much lyrically. Since you're responding I'd like to ask what you meant by "the west coast was here and all these wack beats appearin'" on Whayback. I'm not from the west so I'm not getting at you in that way. I was just curious if at the time it was just so different from the east coast sound you just weren't diggin' it.
