The young star organist Anna Lapwood fills the Grand Hall with her own arrangement of Ludovico Einaudi's »Experience«.

She's described as the »Taylor Swift of classical music«: Anna Lapwood. On TikTok alone, she has more than 500,000 followers and her clips are clicked millions of times. The young Brit is one of the world’s most famous faces behind the organ. She has performed on all the great organs of the world, and as Associate Artist in London’s Royal Albert Hall, she regularly plays the legendary organ known as »The Voice of Jupiter«.
So it was about time she made a visit to the Elbphilharmonie organ. In the first part of her »Elbphilharmonie Session«, she plays her own arrangement of Ludovico Einaudi's minimal hit »Experience« from one of the Italian composer's famous film music soundtracks.

Fantastisch das Zusammenspiel nicht nur der Finger, Hände, Füße - sondern auch Einaudis Klangwelt mit Anna Lapwoods Persönlichkeit auf einem beeindruckendem Instrument mit tollem Dynamikumfang! Dazu eine gut gewählte Kameraführung in einem wunderschönen Raum aus Licht und Klang!

It’s remarkable that Anna as one person can take a song done by an orchestra and play it solo on the organ. And it all blends together much more seamlessly than the original. Bravo and amazing work done by Elbphilharmonie with the lighting and camera work.

I fell in love with pipe organs in the fifties as a choirboy in Luton (UK) Parish Church and the Ritz Cinema but Anna, you just have 'it' your playing is above beautiful, thank you. I will probably go deaf listening but what a way to go.

OMG. That was incredible. That cressendo... the first one, gave me chills. The image capture was very good too, with the play of light helping the effect. This music has a very epic feel too (well, often with a bit of organ thrown in... ^^). It was masterful

I come from 8 generations of pipe organists, and I cannot even read sheet music. I have never felt more of a let down. My grandparents were dead before I was born, and my father died when I was a child. Hundreds of years worth of skill and talent down the pipes.

It would be interesting to hear Anna's impressions of driving a remote console, on that instrument, in that space. So very different from being attached to the instrument through a hole in the wall, I imagine.

Liebe Elphi, ihr habt im wahrsten Sinne die Hausorgel und die weltbeste Organistin fusioniert. Bei diesem noch nie dagewesenen Spektakel würden sich Bach, Händel und auch Beethoven aus ihren Gräbern erheben und dieser Göttlichkeit ihre Ehre erweisen! Niederknien vor Respekt und einfach Hochachtung, so wie ich es gerade tue! Hans Zimmer würde ebenso den Hut vor Anna ziehen.. mein grösster Respekt und grösste Hochachtung an euch beide!
