Elden Ring just got a major patch and with it came a slew of new changes! In this video I go over the patch notes and give my opinion on a few of the big changes!

Major Changes Included in the Latest Update
Additional Elements Added
Added a function to record an icon and the name of an NPC on the map when you encounter that NPC.
Added NPC Jar-Bairn.
Added new quest phases for the following NPCs: Diallos/ Nepheli Loux/ Kenneth Haight/ Gatekeeper Gostoc.
Added some summonable NPCs in multiple situations.
Increased the number of patterns of objects player can imitate when using Mimic’s Veil.
Added night background music for some open field area.
Bug Fixed
Fixed a bug that prevented summoned NPCs from taking damage in some boss battles.
Fixed a bug that sometime prevented the player from obtaining item after boss battle.
Fixed a bug that causes dialogue to be skipped when talking to NPCs and using custom key configurations.
Fixed a bug that causes the player to freeze when riding.
Fixed a bug that causes arcane to scale incorrectly for some weapons.
In situation where the player cannot obtain more than 2 talisman pouches, added talisman pouch to Twin Maiden Husks shop line up.
Fixed a bug that prevented the user from warping to sites of grace from the map at the end of the game.
Fixed a bug that prevented the player from moving to the next area after the battle with the Fire Giant.
Fixed a bug which causes some weapons to have incorrect scaling after strengthening.
Fixed a bug which causes some weapons to not use stat scaling.
Fixed hang-ups in certain occasions.
Fixed a bug which incorrectly displays multiplayer area boundary when playing online.
Fixed a bug that allows player to activate Erdtree Greatshield’s weapon skill without absorbing an attack using a special combination of item and incantation.
Fixed a bug which causes Fire’s Deadly Sin incantation to have different effect.
Fixed a bug with the Ash of War, Determination and Royal Knight's Resolve, where the damage buff will also apply to other weapons without that skill.
Adjusted the visual effect of Unseen Form spell.
Deleted the Ragged armor set from the game which was mistakenly obtainable in previous patch.
Fixed a bug that causes some hostile NPCs to drop Furlcalling Finger Remedy.
Fixed a bug that causes incorrect sound effect to play in some situations.
Fixed a bug which causes visual animation and hitboxes to not be displayed correctly on some maps.
Fixed bugs which causes incorrect visual and behavior for some enemies.
Fixed a bug that causes incorrect stat parameter for some armor.
Text fixes.
Other performance improvement and bug fixes.
Balance Changes
Increased the drop rate of Smithing Stone for some enemies.
Added Smithing Stone to some early game shop line up.
Increased shield’s effectiveness.
Increased the damage for all offensive cracked pot items.
Increased the damage for the following items: Spark Aromatic/Poison Spraymist.
Increased the effect duration for the following items: Uplifting Aromatic/ Ironjar Aromatic.
Increased HP healing for Torrent when using the following items: Rowa Raisin/ Sweet Raisin/ Frozen Raisin
Reduced FP consumption and increased the damage of the following sorceries: Glintstone Cometshard/ Comet/ Night Comet
Increased the damage of the following sorceries: Gravity Well/ Collapsing Stars/ Crystal Barrage
Decreased FP consumption of the following sorceries: Star Shower/ Rock Blaster/ Gavel of Haima/ Founding Rain of Stars/ Stars of Ruin/Greatblade Phalanx/Magic Downpour/ Loretta’s Greatbow/ Loretta’s Mastery/ Carian Greatsword/ Carian Piercer/ Shard Spiral
Raised projectile speed and range of Great Glintstone Shard
Decreased Ash of War, Hoarfrost Stomp's damage and increase cast time.
Increased Ash of War, Bloody Slash's self-inflict damage while slightly lowering the damage and increasing the cast time.
Decreased weapon skill, Sword of Night and Flame’s damage.
Increased FP consumption and lower duration of Ash of War, Barricade Shield.
Changed FP consumption timing of Ash of War, Prelate’s Charge.
Decreased the damage of spirit summoned when using the item Mimic Tear Ash and changed the spirit’s behavior pattern.
Other enemy and weapon balance changes

i was playing when the game update dropped all of a sudden. was in the blaidd invade fight and the connection got lost right as i backstabbed him. thought he raged quit for a second then i remembered its a npc

I don't know the more they nerf things the less fun I have. I haven't used any op weapons. But I've been enjoying my single player experience and I have never played a game that feels like such a real world. I loved how you have to use your brain and keep track of certain missions in your head or on a paper. I love how you used to have to mark where npcs were. I just feal so emersed in this game and hate the idea that a wepon I'm using today might become complete garbage tomorrow. Nerfs in a pve experience like this is the biggest buzz kill and Emerson killer

I've been watching these videos since the aberration guides when I was still in high-school. These elden ring videos aren't nearly getting the amount of views and love that they should. Good work man, keep it up, always helpful. Ps. Maybe rannis quest line next plz?

Thanks for going over these, honestly was not expecting them to do balancing so quickly. Not a bad thing though, just hoping they didn’t go over board with nerfs like in previous games..

I'm almost positive they nerfed things into the dirt. They have a history of just not knowing wtf they actually want their game to look like in its end state. Hence why bleed went from great to literally the most worthless stat other than poison in ds3. How tf does he keep swinging so wildly after ALL these years of fine tuning?

@@sikwitit773 it makes no sense and I'm absolutely sick of it. With all these years of testing I figured ER would start a bit closer to the "sweet" spot of balance. But no. It's literally ds3 all over again, with shit going from absolutely broken to absolutely worthless with zero in between.

Parties not over for me. Noticed the patch drop on my ps5 and went off line instantly. Will install once I gain another 407 levels to reach maximum. So for now, I'm a dual wield, great swords with hoarfrost and stomp my way to the end again.

My biggest problem with these games is why should it matter what people use to clear the game just nerf all that shit for pvp use it makes since to nerf shit like the erdtree great shield in pvp but leave it alone in pve like this game doesn’t have a easy mode players found out how to make their own easy mode and yal get rid of it I was totally fine with how broken all that stuff was in pve just not pvp

Maybe they can make it so Melania heals for damage done instead of whenever she lands a hit, regardless of whether it deals damage or not, still feel like that is a pile of dogshit in the middle of an otherwise great fight. Before anyone jumps down my throat, I've already beat her twice, I just think the way the mechanic was implemented is dumb.

@@yvettedath1510 dragon breaths aren't physical attacks so of course your shield isn't gonna fully block the dmg, if you look at your stats it shows u just how much dmg the shield Will block from the corresponding attack types. most dragon breaths attacks are fire dmg and there isn't a single shield I know of that fully negates fire dmg and most bosses are strong but they aren't completely unfair if a boss seems op to you, it's either A: you aren't strong enough yet or B: you haven't fought it long enough to understand its moveset. the bosses aren't too op, you just need to put in the time to learn them

Hoarfrost Stomp helped me deal with that godawful Godskin Duo gank fight. Figured it would be nerfed.

I’m so glad I beat the game Monday dawg. Sword of night and flame +10 and mimic +10 carried me so hard. First souls game I’ve beat so I needed those. I don’t understand why you have to nerf weapons in a single player game tho. If people wanna be op and have fun doing it, let them.

Hoarfrost nerfed... Well, I just started to like this ash of war yesterday... Killing some dragon & tree avatar with it, my panic button when surrounded by group of enemies, spammable stagger & frost status with low fp cost Damn I'm gonna miss the old hoarfrost

I'd really like it if they fixed the bugged madness build up on that one spear. Also whatever that thing is where you just roll into people and they explode from Death status or whatever it is needs to go ASAP. Really interested to see what got added to the npc quests as well.

I didn't use the Erdtree Shield in PVP because of how toxic it can be but I definitely used it against bosses and man did I enjoy it just hopped back on and I was in for a rude awakening while I was fighting Knights Calvary I was so confused lol #RIPErdreeShield

Exactly. And I only used it when cheaters entered my lobby. They could have decreased the damage a bit in pvp. Cheaters have an updated hand now and I have no defense against them except for frenzied burst. If they have a co-op though, it's near impossible

RIP Mimic tear. I’m a level 220 hybrid build playing through NG+ and the mimic +10 is absolute trash. Doesn’t take nearly as much damage as it used too, and it’s movement patterns are dumbed down which means it isn’t as good at defensive movements as it used to be.

So much magic got buffed how are you struggling. And the sword is doing like 15-20% less damage than before. That’s easily manageable and still kills things quickly

Good and bad… guess I’ll black knife tiche or clean rot soldier instead of mimic tear… and my sword of night and flame ahhh it hurts but it’s also good for me I was too reliant on it now I can focus on some ever cooler looking gear without being too weak

@@djalipage8474 Hoardfrost stomp with life sapping mist is easy mode , rivers of blood with the blood talisman will be easy mode also the black flame protection with the great dragoncrest talisman with barrier of gold cast is also easy mode every souls game a new meta is made after a patch like monster hunter games

I don't think I'll update my game tbh. I prefer offline play anyway. I like Icerind, and Sword of Night and Flame. If other games have taught me anything, it's that these 2 weapons are now unusable or at least nerfed so hard you might as well use something else. Do I primarily use them? No, rarely in fact. But they're still fun to pull out every once in a while. I'm on my 5th playthrough, so I'm fine with just playing the game offline with the current version until some other version actually improves something that interests me. I'm not a sorcery user so this sorcery-focus patch isn't going to help me much, however if they did something for incantations I'd be more inclined to update the game.

Law of regressions is 37 intelligence which means if we thought of eclipse shotel bug as a genuine strat every single build would have to invest 27 ish points into intelligence because it is the only way to win against it. This would also mean mages would dominate due to already wanting int in the first place.the meta would be so lame i dont even have the words. It was a bug and it got patched. erdtree shield was meant for reflecting projectiles. Shooting them out with the fire spell was a bug and Not intended. Fun. Yes. Intended by devs. No.

Fuck yeah! Rivers of Blood and Eleanora’s poleblade actually work now! And I’m a seppuku user, not bloody slash, so I don’t really care about that. Kinda think they shoulda left the Night and Flame special attacks the same though, they were super easy to dodge anyway, maaaybe I would’ve made the fire attack a bit slower because of its large aoe, but it was still easy to I-frame roll through it in pvp. Hoarfrost stomp definitely needed the nerf though, I had to get real good real quick at I-framing the damage, and the frostbite would still proc anyway.

Everyone, before watching video will inform you that N&F swords has been heavily nerfed... Was using it on Malenia earlier and full buff with talisman ect(40 faith/40int) was hitting 3.4K-3.7K with flames. Now 2.1k-2.3K 😭

I feel like bloody slash was nerfed too much with the increase in hp consumption. The damage decrease was fine but if you like using your weapon art often, health goes down real fast. Seemed to me the heal consumption justified the damage in the first place

Another thing is they need to get rid of the long as fuck animation where your guy slow walks shaking his magic weapon if you run out of mana. That’s gotten me killed too many times when I could have rolled away in time otherwise but it doesn’t let you leave the animation til it’s over

Mimic didn’t need to be rendered useless per say. The gimmick bleed builds are gone lol. But weapons that do bleed? Jezuz Rivers of blood hits like a truck. Elenors pole blade with armor that gives you invisible roll I frames .... nice. I just use lord of blood talisman for a buff. I’m interested in finding new noctua quests. Elden ring has some amazing quests. Have fun everyone making new broken builds! They are fun to watch

This was actually my thought, I made my friend get this weapon as he was struggling, it was just a way to make sure he stuck with the game. Now if he notices the drop I'm worried he will quit. At the point he is at Somber smithing stones are DEFINITELY not plentiful so it doesn't seem right that he can't get them back to put into something else

@@shortbreadhead If your friend is considering “quitting” the game then I don’t think this is for him tbh. I’ve raged, gotten stuck, and had to rebirth my character to fix my stats and still have absolutely no desire to quit the game. Tell your friend to try the Moonlight Greatsword, Moonveil, or the Winged Scythe. Those are worth a try.

@@universal_wisdom3416 I never said he is considering it, I said I'm worried it may make him want to after investing so much in a weapon. I actually guided him through all of the questline for Ranni so he has the Dark Moon Greatsword (not moonlight as in other souls games, that's the name of the skill for this weapon) but due to how much actual fun he was having with the weapon I guided him around the place to collect somber smithing stones for to upgrade he was rather uninterested in giving it a chance. It is my weapon of choice over moonviel as I'm not a katana user, never have been but I'm hoping I can convince him to switch to it. Look if I can get him past radahn I'm sure I can manage to make him stay but you are missing the whole point. Investing in a weapon whether "OP" or not, if you find it strong and usable then it will be "OP" regardless, so having that taken away from you in a single player setting is going to kick up shit somewhere, so at least having the option to idk.. let's call it 'unbind' upgrades to recently nerfed weapons would go a long way, even if it was a limited window. Never mind the fact that PvP doesn't interest him at all

I say a limited window because.. well maybe the nerf doesn't bother you. I've played plenty of games where a nerf has been made on something I use but it was for a reason I had no idea of, usually something being used in conjunction with something else making it OP and mostly always for PvP reasons.. as far as I remember anyway. Of course those effects didn't just change the PvP scaling. I am in two minds about this update because on one hand I fucking love that it is so soon after release so it shows they will be frequent and keeping up with things, then on the other I'm like.. it's too early to make big changes to a game that has brought in a whole new audience that previously hadn't been interested in soulslike games, so it's kind of taking away their chance to ease into it. Normally I'd say that's the way it should be, if you go into a souls game expect to have to get used to it, but as I said.. whole new audience. I hope that makes sense. I don't care either way I just don't want to lose people I've finally got to play with and just explore the world
