I have been a parishioner at St. Anthony’s for over 35 years and over that time, it has been an honor for me to meet and make friends with many of the retired Friars. As a Secular Franciscan, they are my “older” brothers and have enriched my life in many ways. I especially like praying Morning Office with them on Tuesday and Thursday mornings every week. Thank you, Br. Bob, for taking such good care of all the Friars over the years. God Bless you and all the Friars of St. Anthony’s. Pax et Bonum!

One of the best in this series; thank you for sharing and please thank the Brother Guardian and his brood for letting us join in their day. The doctor's response makes me realise why the religious Habit is more than an overall for special occasions; it is a witness to 'who' you are called to be. Hopefully more franciscan types will come to share in that vision.

I love how Br. Bob basically described holy friendships! - from having meaningful conversations in car rides, over meals, through recreation and the overall accountability. Bless the Franciscans and their emphasis on brotherhood! Can't wait to hear of more patron saints of friendship in the future through this Order. On a side note: Br. Casey, please please (if you could!), do a series on Franciscan sisters! As a Catholic who has no access to religious immersions due to proximity, unavailability and travel restrictions, this series has been a big help in discerning the religious life. It would be great to have an insight too on how the sisters live their lives!

It'll be about ten to fifteen years before my parents are elderly and I have to take care of them. God bless this man - - he makes it look easy...

7:38 That's beautiful visually as well as very helpful to have a lamp and a chair on a landing like that. It's so poetic and peace giving! We used to have a chair on the 2-3rd floor landing where I lived years ago. at least some of the time, when some person privately left one there for people to use.

Brother, you have a very important and a much needed ministry. Us lay people also share the same ministry when we care for our elderly parents or neighbors. May God Bless You, and those you care for. I love the last song!

This looks like it is in Northern New Jersey since in Butler, NJ is St. Anthony of Paducah Church, which is a Francian run church.

This is very humane and very Christian of the Franciscan Order. I love the way they look after the Friars. Unfortunately, in our Archdiocese, this is not the case and some diocesan priests don't have a place to live in their elderly years.

It is hard to believe that the Church would not take care of elderly priests. They give their life to God and shouldn’t just be tossed aside when then age. Recently there was a special on a foundation that provides wheelchairs to the elderly and needed, and the founder stated that you would be surprised at the number of elderly priests and sisters who need wheelchairs and don’t have them. Shame on the Church for allowing this to happen. Those in charge will have to answer to God one day.

That’s really sad. The church needs to look after those who gave it long service.

Its beautiful video Father, but I have been listening to the wisdom of Fathers of the desert these days. I find them so less concerned about eating and socializing, which I see opposit in present time Monks. I find todays monks so fatty. Why it is so?
