In this episode, the Ingenuity helicopter discovers spacecraft wreckage before losing contact with the Perseverance rover. Meanwhile, the rover observes interesting rock formations, spots a bright object, and approaches the delta face. Perseverance's journey includes breaking records for distance traveled in one day and capturing the highest definition observation of a Martian solar eclipse. Ingenuity re-establishes communication with the rover and continues to provide valuable data for scientists. Perseverance starts its ascent of "Hawksbill Gap", the most challenging terrain yet.

Hate when a rock gets in a wheel. Makes an annoying noise. When you take it in for the scheduled rotation and balance, have them remove it. No additional charges.

Im obsessed with the images of the Mars landscape..they look somehow alien but also familiar at the same time. I adore the fact that NASA treats these robots as if they are truly alive, the letter between them is so adorable and it really hammers in how awesome these little guys are. They are billions of miles away from home, but are still connected to us through an emotional link that, even though they might not feel it as we do, it still ties us to them.

We don't have the technology to explore our deepest oceans here on earth and yet they SAY they can send a spacecraft 33.9 MILLION miles away and actually control it from earth by remote control. 33.9 Million miles is when Mars is the closest to Earth. When it's the farthest away it's 250 MILLION MILES away! People have got to start thinking for themselves. NASA is multimillion dollar a day business and have been lying to the American people for years.

What could be cooler than living on one planet and being able to watch a video of another planet in high resolution like you were there? All people reading this, need to pause for a few seconds and think about how lucky we are, to live in a time were this is now possible. We all should appreciate this and not just take it for granted. I will always love and support space exploration. This is very cool to watch.

One question is just who is going to profit from all this space exploration. Investors and billionaires? Certainly not the greater population of Earth,who most likely won't have any say,or even a look in. Nothing will change for them,except a demand for more taxes to pay for the rich man's new hobby.

I really liked the part where the little moon eclipsed the sun. You mentioned how data from that can help you learn more about the planet itself. I must salute all the engineers, mathematicians and all of you. My first time watching this- I didn’t even know what a sol was! Love having a different perspective of the red dot from our pale blue dot.

I just read in an article today about prolific lying and the kind of people who believe in lies and conspiracies. “In a survey of nearly 400 American adults the more the respondents knew about the news media, the less likely they were to believe conspiracy theories, even those that aligned with their political ideologies.” It takes work to educate yourself and be educated to be able understand and recognize the truth. There are a lot of similar places in the California/Nevada/Arizona deserts, too. Death Valley doesn't have the red tinged rocks, but the barren landscape is very similar in a lot of areas. The very south area of California near the Mexican border has some very bleak sandscapes, too. Regardless, this is some nice video to show what's going on with the rover and its associated helicopter.

When I saw the very first photos of Mars taken in the 1980s I was filled with a child like fascination of its appearance realizing that I was looking at another world at last. No other video or photos since then have caused me to feel this way until now. Amazing work! Thank you!

I's great for sure! But I don't know why they keep going heavy on the red filter because the surface of the planet doesn't look like that? Some of the photos you can actually see a more true representation... it's like dull grey and brown. And they've done that since the first color picture was taken! Sensationalising Mars for dramatic effect probably lol. All the Hollywood films that feature the red planet's surface show it the same dramatic alien red color.

Thank you for such a great program. I took screenshots of some of the footage from the Rover & there are some interesting and questionable things i found that if i didnt know i was looking at Mars? I think the "helicopter" impresses me more than anything else. I have a solar powered fountain on my garden fish pond so I know how little real power comes off a small solar panel. It will only run continually in direct mid-day sunlight. To make something that can fly, on Mars, and take pictures like those is beyond belief.

It does not fly by directly using solar power. They remain on the ground for some hours and days charging a battery and then they can fly for some minutes.

It is fascinating to see, how similar these images from a different planet look in comparison to deserts on Earth. Sure, there is no reason, why should they look different as the laws of physics and chemistry apply accross the universe, but actually seeing it is another thing.

This is all just so amazing. From the Earth Mars is but a little bright spot in the night sky and yet mankind is able to go all the way there, land a vehicle and have it drive around and send back pictures all the way back to Earth that everyone can view. Simply amazing.

This was so cool! As he described the layers of rock that may have been etched by water, we need to remember that Mars has very serious dust storm that could've carved those layers like that. Very interesting video, I must say!👍👏

Those photos look just like the mountain near where I live - one area is made up of red volcanic rocks and dust with not a single bit of vegetation growing.

Nobody will ever take a clear picture of a "UFO", because it they did, it wouldn't be a UFO anymore. Instead, we'd be able to see that it's just plane, a balloon or some other well-known object.

Weathering patterns on the rocks show that there is prevailing winds. I live in a area where the prevailing winds produce exact some patterns on rock and other geotech formation. One would think water was there many moons ago but it is actually all the work of thousands of years of wind from the same direction

What is so eerie about this spacecraft material? It is the parachute containment end cap from one of our past lander missions. Could be classified as contamination.
