Elderly Homeowner gets a HUGE SURPRISE when I knocked on his door

I saw how dirty this driveway was getting and decided to knock on the door. An elderly man answered and I offered to clean his walkway and driveway up for free. This type of work is so beneficial because when all the dirt and grime is sticking to the surface, it gets slippery and dangerous to walk on. I'm so happy I was able to do this work for this man and it turned out AMAZING!

I never knew how appreciative seniors can be when they truly need help until I became one. I was always used to doing everything myself until my body began to reject that idea. You're an inspiration Spencer!

I used to help my elderly neighbor before he passed with shoveling his driveway and sidewalk and mowing his lawn. He never said he appreciated it because he was a very proud man, but I could tell he was very glad for the help.

It is definitely difficult accepting you are no longer the giver / doer but, the accepting recipient! Problem is in this new world we have devolved into, is that there are few willing to help or as they state it “we don’t want to invade your space”!…. Aaarrgh! Offer to invade, you may just enjoy the appreciation for your efforts!

Me too. I get stubborn and try to do things I used to do but shouldn't. I learned my lesson recently. I was on a foot stool and lost my balance. I fell and now the only thing I have to show for it is a broken arm, lovely purple and green bruises and bills from the ER.

I know what you mean, so sorry you fell, but you have to ask yourself each time, how important is it and you have to remember that you have to take care not to get hurt. I let lots of things go because I don't want to take a chance to get hurt. Get well soon @@chanmi1957

My grandpa is 86 and he's just like that. Any time someone goes to do some sort of job at his house he keeps watching them all the way through. He doesn't share his opinion, he doesn't give notes, he doesn't complain. He just quietly watches and I find it hilarious 😂

My dad is 86, and I know how hard it is for him to give up doing tasks he did for many years. Thank you for helping elderly folks with chores that need to be done. This video touched my heart because my father likes to stand by and “supervise” our work. It must make him feel involved.

You were not kidding about the pouring rain. I used to work for a guy just like that when I was a teen. He watched everything, offered helpful advice. He was a really nice guy, but he wanted things just so. He was never rude about it, just strongly suggested things. (Makes me laugh now.) Such dedication and perseverance you have, Spencer! This is a wonderful thing that you are doing.

Ahh, what a great job! The azaleas reminded me of my parents' house. Definitely great timing for you to make this cement safe before someone slips on it when it's wet. His "supervising" made me giggle. My dad would have sat and observed, smoking a cigarette, before inviting you to come sit and "take a load off", insisting you have a cup of coffee or something to drink before chatting you up and learning more about what it is you are doing with KZfaq, regale you with a few funny stories, and insist on tipping you/buying lunch. Even today, 15 years after he passed, I run into people that used to work for him and they reminisce on how kind he was, and such fun to talk to, even while working.
