If Eldorado had still been around it would've been massive by now. It would've clearly taken other soaps a run for their money.

Given another year this would be massive and still on today

It was meant to be called Little England. And focused upon expats. The whole thing got lost in translation and was so different in the end from the original concept. However I used 2 watch Eldorado and really enjoyed it.

The end of an era..... had they waited till the set was finished before starting filming and given the second producer a Chance I believe that by 1995 this show could’ve been very popular and still on today In 2020! What does everyone think? I say bring back eldorado in 2020!

I still, to this day, find it strange that Eldorado was made by the same people who made EastEnders.

yes, but under different circumstances. When creating EastEnders, they had the time to create a believable world with relatable characters that were well fleshed out. Eldorado was rushed into production too quickly and it shows in the early episodes- dreadful dialogue, weak acting by some cast members and some very implausible story-lines.

Scotty United Boy had they waited till the set was finished and hired decent actors then maybe it would still be on today. the viewing figures where up by the end of the show and Corinne Hollingsworth improves the showed.

Bear in mind also that Julia Smith and Tony Holland were forced to make decisions they didn't want to make by the BBC. The show was initially meant to be about Brits living abroad however the BBC forced them into introducing foreign families against their will to make the show more marketable to European audiences. In the end they were powerless and most of the dud actors were the Europeans. Corinne Hollingsworth (another EastEnders producer) came in and essentially turned the show more into the series Julia and Tony wanted to make at the beginning.

@TheTraveltube Some of the properties were just shells but the actual villas were kitted out as homes (with the exception of plumbing apparently!). However, this has obviously been added since the place has been used as accommodation in later years.

It’s such a shame it ended. Instead we get that shower that is doctors. Which in my opinion needs the axe so eldorado can come back. The set is still there so it’s possible.

They could even bring in some former Eastenders characters to boost its reputation
