The BBC had no imagination. Look at Eastenders now, it's a parody of the worst kind of American daytime soap. Eldorado was ahead of its time - ambitious.

It was early 1993 - the year "Eldorado" disappeared :-(

Cheers. You might be interested in the new unofficial Eldorado website. Do a google search for "unofficial eldorado".

It would be worthwhile looking at the Yahoo group (link from website)

It's the BBC's fault for putting it on very early and hyping it. Alan Yentob who cancelled the £10 million soap didn't have the slightest bit of interest in the programme at all. Since the show was improving at that stage on and off screen Eldorado DID succeed but the plug just pulled at it's peek. I'm very confident it will be back.

See also the US sitcom Sibs- hyped by ABC due to being from the same team as The Tracey Ullman Show, and featuring one of it's stars, Dan Castellaneta. It tanked so badly, it was pulled so quickly ABC never bothered to air the rest of the 22 produced episodes. Unfortunately for Castellaneta, he hasn't had a regular live action role since (Heck, even Birdsall got work after Eldorado).
