That's what I thought too, like he may have been considered lazy in terms of doing manual labour but he really was highly motivated to concoct these elaborate schemes and invest in these people with fake emotion. That's a lot of energy that could've been redirected into some vaguely more honest living at least. Would've been more sustainable than murder.

Yall saying "if he wanted money, he should should done this.." The money was just a part of it. You cannot murder someone, go out for lunch after drinking their blood, then come home and dissolve the body if you don't enjoy murder or get some sort of gratification from it. Money may have started this, but there was a reason he was never satisfied or more careful with his money. Because he *wanted* to do it again.

It all started in part one when Eleanor told about how his parents were so strict on him and scared him with consequences from God. He started with little sins, and nothing happened to him immediately, and because of that, he threw all notions of consequences for his actions out the window, and kept trying to get away with more and more, and more, really pushing the envelope. Remember the saying, if you can lie you'll steal, and if you'll steal you'll kill. He started doing all of those, in that order. Lying to appease his family and to keep up appearance, then committing fraud, (stealing) and then killing to cover his lies and fraud.

@ScrewgeMcF_ck
@ScrewgeMcF_ck 3 жыл бұрын
If we get technical about what is classified as “first” in the acrylic nail family: a mixture of monomer and polymer powder was first experimented with for shaping nails as early as the 1860s. The first modern nail salon was established in 1870s New York. They briefly experimented with it commercially. But it had less of an appeal, as women felt the nails hindered their productivity in everyday housework. The first commercially sold nail and glue set was perfected by a dentist in the 1950s after he badly broke a nail. He wanted something that would be durable enough to stay on during his daily work, but protected from infection until the nail fully grew back. It’s also weird to think she was working to popularize powder nails way back in the 40s, but it didn’t become popular until the 70s.

This case has a special place in my personal history of interest in true crime. When I was first getting into serial killers at around 11/12 my mum gave me a book that she had gotten from her brother in the 80s (I think the book was from the early late 70s/ early 80s when the term “serial killer” was the new hotness). The “A-Z of Serial Killers” would become the first true crime book I ever read. I would read one case each night before going to sleep and the very first case was of course “The Acid Bath Murderer”. Almost 20 years later I dont remember who else was included in the the book but I always remember how striking of a start that was to a morbidly fascinated 12 year old. It jumped out to me as saying “shit is gonna get real, so buckle up missy”. So thank you very much for covering it in the clear and compelling way you always do, especially since older cases like this dont get too much attention any more.

The one thing I learned from these murder mysteries is to never trust young charismatic white men.

The amount of effort and planning this guy put into his schemes like... he literally worked harder than he would have had to if he just got a job 😂😂😂😂😂

He could’ve actually put all this energy into making his own fortune 🤦🏼‍♀️ might’ve been less work even

@oop 99 Sarah’s not saying that becoming rich is easy. She’s saying that he had to do so much work just to make sure he kept his lies straight and make “friends” with all the people he killed. Starting up a fake business and then completely packing up is a lot more effort than settling down with a good job and living a comfortable life and not worrying about the law coming after you.

@oop 99 if you mean the psychopath part, I didn’t even mention the psychopath part because I was just clearing up the him becoming rich part.

@oop 99 Sure but I wasn’t really talking about him. I was just talking in general. But the goal doesn’t have to be become rich. It just needed to be live comfortably. That’s what got this murderer into trouble. He was looking for a rich life and would do anything to get it even though he could have done the bare minimum and had a comfortable life. I mean he originally got a job as like a mechanic I think? I forget. Pretty sure it was a mechanic. That makes decent enough money.

In those days houses cost like £2 he could of just bought a massive house that he’d have forever why would he live in a hotel. Especially after how many times he’s had to move back in with his parents 😅
