Religious trauma is something very few people take seriously. A LOT of people feel trapped by or in a religion. I have an extremely religious father who constantly shoved Christianity down my throat growing up. That's the reason I don't want to ever follow a religion. Religion, no matter the kind, makes me feel trapped. And I know a lot of people who have the same views.
@yoleniartz
@yoleniartz 3 жыл бұрын
Same for me, my mother shoved religion down my throat as a child. I went to bible school 4 days a week after regular school. Got baptized 3 times. And my mom mentaly and physically abused me from a very young age till I ran away at 11. And she would claim she'd do it because god said so. I respect all religions, I just will never get involved with it ever again.

Ppl need to really be careful with this. It's not only the extremist or cult freaks. Even seemingly open and harmless ideas can go a long way on shaping prejudices, phobias, mind disorders and wrong attitudes. It's a lot safer just not teaching any fcking religion nor philosophy to your kid. It's enough with love, politeness and common sense he will mostly follow your example anyway and behave your wayish. Then as a teenager they can explore and have all the silly phases and ideas they want, but childhood must be free of that.

My mom has been very religious since I was about ten and when I moved in with her I let her know that I wasn't religious and would not like to go to church. Of course she then enrolled me into a Christian School and sent me to the before and after school care and would bring me to church every Sunday. I once begged not to go and got beaten once she got back. She would also use any excuse to pardon her behavior whenever someone called her out on her treatment of me. I either had an awful attitude or I dressed in too tight clothes so I was obviously sleeping around or my room was a mess so I clearly needed to be disciplined. Ever since I feel physically ill being exposed to religions derived from the bible

Yeah a lot of religious people are cult like. That’s why there have been so many cults in America. Trumps own base who touts themselves as religious and god loving have also said they think he is sent by god and would do anything for him. A lot of religious people are gullible and easily turn to cult like mentality. Organized religion has created a lot of evil. Tv evangelists are also cult like and take advantage of their viewers regularly and we have EVIDENCE of their messed up deeds yet people keep believing them and Making them millionaires

Cults are groups that are led by narcissism, embodied by the isolated, emboldened by groupthink and hysteria, and eventually all fall because of sexual corruption, insatiable greed or government intervention. They are not relegated to any political realm, religious sect, or particular intellectual level in their infancy. In fact, the idealism of their independent camaraderie is what drew so many intelligent hippies to them in the '60-'90s. It is only later in their evolution that things begin to deteriorate. These parents suffered from a form of OCD that is preoccupied with contamination. Also a mitigating factor in the inception or destruction of many cults.
@ebonyloveivory

@@y-fj9hh It is always the extremists and the power / fame hungry that try to guile these folks into their cults. Religion itself is not harmful, most, if not all practice and preach peace and harmony. But humans are the ones who take it too far because of their greed and depravity even.

He was told he'd be punished, but as soon as he realized those were lies he went full savage + accustomed to lie since childhood + indulging in pleasures...all that turn him into a desensitized, non empathetic man that lost his life-affirmative self and just lies, kills and gets adrenaline rushes. The drinking blood thing sort of punishing himself compulsion...or maybe felt like a powerful devil himself? maybe tastes good?

@@Fatima-rk4wl uhm. Do you know how trauma can affect you especially if you aren't taught empathy or to value others? Murder usually isn't all that excusable but it's obvious that he turned out like that because of abuse. Saying ' so and so had it worse ' is comparing and generalizing that everyone should respond to it the same when that just doesn't happen. That leads to people feeling worse about what they went through and pushes them away from getting help. Thus they take it out in unhealthy manners. There's not a magical switch that fixes these things when you hit 18. So although it was wrong what he did, the reason he did was clear and if you think that was nothing others have killed because of traumatic experiences that were even less.

I don't even consider people like that as "Christians." They're so strict about it that they end up doing the opposite of what they intended to do. I know that sounds a bit strange but seriously, you stopped your child from making friends? There's nothing wrong about being strict about religion but there's still a certain limit to it. My parents are Christian but they don't try to make us fear God or anything. It's about forgiving yourself and accepting the fact that everybody sins. God helps us make the right decisions in life, and that's basically all there is to it. He doesn't want us to fear the consequences of our wrongdoings every second of our lives. Lying to a little kid saying that God gave him that scar for sinning? Seriously?

"theres nothing wrong about being strict about religion" how?
@user-bx8ic7us9g
@user-bx8ic7us9g 3 жыл бұрын
@@written-postcards777 Like I said, there's still a certain limit to it. Like, in this case, they weren't just strict parents. They were manipulative, unforgiving, and way too harsh on their child. But that's not always the case. Most of the "strict parents" I know, including mine, do it because they love us and want the best for us. Ya know, like giving us an early curfew, not letting us have sweets as often as other kids, and take away our phones from time to time so we're not on it too long. In terms of religion, no sex before marriage, no talking back to parents, and things like that. But even if I did those things, I know they'll eventually forgive me because they're my parents. That's what strict religious parents are from my point of view. Not whatever John's parents were going for, obviously.

In a modern society or enviroment of economic secuirity its tradition, laziness and an inability to parent in a way that builds mutual respect children will want to maintain. Fear is a shortcut that while a useful tool to keep 3 yr olds out of the woods at night, is used as a crutch for behavior modification beyond toddlerhood especially by those that are damaged themselves and/or are too poor to keep an eye on children properly while trying to make money to survive.

@@moonlighttiger5278 simply having access to information doesnt mean you see it digest it or talk about or act on it. There's many ways to change the way people precieve information in order control what information they take on as true and most of them are not simply eliminating the information itself but rather putting up strong us vs them stuctures that cause them to reject information even should they obtain access to it. Look into the BITE model for cults. It explains a lot more.
